  • This Millicent character on this show reminds me of the Wicked Stepmother from Cinderella from Disney, in appearance, that is. This show cracks me up.

  • @Dan97LHS You know the woman playing her voiced the Stepmother, right? And Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty?

  • Used to watch these all the time as a kid.

Of course back them, we never knew they would be classic comedies or classic TV.

Glad we have these oldies to watch, today's shows totally and I mean totally suck.

  • I am too young to remember the original broadcasts of these early episodes, but during the eighties I seem to recall watching the early reruns in syndication with this intro music. Is annyone shure that this is not the original? I thought the more familiar "Listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed..." opening came out in the second or third season. I could, of course, be quite wrong!

  • @Rod1837 nope, the familiar tune was there since season 1, and is even credited in the end credits. This public domain music was also used on Petticoat Junction when it's earlier seasons became public domain.

  • I'm from the hills of Tennessee, and I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • justChiminin. You are right the acting and the jokes, and the way they play it deadpan is

outstanding, what a good cast they were. The remake couldn't get near as good as this.

  • Great screen writing and acting . . those old comedy shows are priceless . .

  • Great American humour at it's very very best.

    Fucking briliant .

  • Jethro in drag! Love it!

  • Funny. And wasn't Donna Douglas a babe

    back then?

  • Isn't Jethro's age always a secret?

  • We-e-e-ell doggy! A classic.

  • best tv show of all time no doubt too funny

  • Three teachers, must be an awful big school, all classics.

  • Thanks a bunch from all us double knaut spies!

  • Don't forget street car conductors, knights, 5 star generals, astronaughts, chef's, actors, and talent agents (all of Jethro's other prfessions throughout the run of the show).

  • The intro DOES say "Taking shortcuts to save our country" at the bottom :O..Didn't they broadcast episodes 3 through 7?

  • Great one...never saw this before...super...miss the reruns of this show! Please post more - thanks!

  • loveeeeeeeee jethro he's a hunk

  • Jethro is wearing a yarmulke.

  • Without the the song it just feels strange and cold.

  • know what's word, I have a play called mountin maddness and the charchter I play in it is Jethro, weird but it's kinda like this but diffrent.Oh I'm 13 thats why im in the play.

  • They removed the theme music because it was still

under copyright. Still, don't blame the copyright law,

but the packagers who are too cheap to spring for the

    royalties on the theme songs.

  • more!

  • thank you!! I just joined up 'officially' just so I could thank you for posting these classic episodes!
