Hmmm, the bass is at the top of the "key board"? Interesting... This kind of reminds me of tuned bird whistles used as an effect on some theater organs.
In them each whistle contains its own supply of liquid, usually glycerin or some light oil so it won't evaporate, and the level of liquid determines the "fine tuning" of each whistle.
You probably could do something like that with this and avoid the common tank of water in the bottom. :)
All very good suggestions. As to the treble and bass ends being reversed, in future versions of this device it would be best to get that right. It could be problematic since ALL keyboard instruments throughout history are treble on the right and bass on the left.
