  • I had 2 male hermanni. as they were kids, they got along pretty well. then they started to ram each other for most of the time. thats why I had to give away one of the guys...T_T

  • @TheTortlord Sad to say, males can become quite violent. On the other hand they are really active and love to climb, whilst females are calmer.

  • @TamaTheTortoise Do you have a male tort too?

  • @TheTortlord I did, he died of an infection at the age of 25.

  • @TamaTheTortoise Oh, interesting...I didn't know that females were calmer.

  • @11wormbig

In general they are calmer, except if they want to oviposit. Then most females leave their territory so that their offspring get their own playground. Oviposition behaviour is one main reason why some females try hard to escape even very large enclosures.

  • Oh cooool haha yeah I feed mine greens that are left over from us haha like lettuce ( not iceberg) spinach parsley etc he loves dandelions too. I'm building an outdoor enclosure right now and I'm gonna put up a video of it when I'm done!!

  • I'm looking forward to watch that video. Please, keep in mind that 2 tortoises will need a really large enclosure. Especially if there are 2 males or 1 male and 1 female. Adult males show territorial behavior and bite females during mating season. The inferior/female animal needs the space to escape. Just build the enclosure as large as possible. All the best!

  • @TamaTheTortoise i most likely wont get another tortoise :((( the enclosures big tho its like 6 feet by 4

  • @AwesomeDudes14 Yeah, big enough for Edward. But imho, even 2 adult (and friendly) females would need a larger one. Tortoises aren't gregarious animals. Edward won't feel lonely without a fellow. So, don't be too sad if you won't get another tort.

  • @TamaTheTortoise oh wow! thats weird... haha whatever

  • @AwesomeDudes14 I'm not kidding. Tortoises and (sea)turtles are solitary. In their natural habitat, they often meet each other in mating season only.

  • @TamaTheTortoise Cool, well if i ever think about breeding ill get a female.... but i love edward haha

  • haha love tama! my tortoise is edward.... and im thinking about getting another tortoise...also, what are you feeding her? looks nasssty haha

  • @AwesomeDudes14 Thanks for subscribing.

lol, that's a mixture of grasses, herbs and weed. Looks nasty but smells good. And it's almost equal to the natural diet. From time to time I add finely crushed eggshells to provide calcium.

All the best to you and edward of course.
