  • 58 mm good?

  • @AdroitNecromaner Hey there, not sure what you are referring to. Can you elaborate? Thanks, the Canon team.

  • so i just need to cut out any shape and those will make bokeh effect??

  • @sw33tbay yes put the cut-out shapes over the lens. Good luck!

  • If it was "Bo-ka" then it would've have been in Japanese "Bokaa", it's Bokeh, which is actually "Bokee" which should sound like "Bo-Keh". But great video :) Just thought I might correct people's Japanese.

  • @BrandonKingVloggin Thanks Brandon! Cheers, the Canon team.

  • BOKOEH !

    bokelicious ~ ~ ~

  • Great info,great presentation,great music,great mood.

  • @tirimut Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers, the Canon team.

  • Amazing videos. Great tutorials. I just subscribed.

  • Does it work on 18-55mm lens?

  • @orbitflock Yes

  • this is great! im trying it now,but i have a question, im using 18-55mm Lens. am i suppose to use a bigger shape or smaller. lets say if im using a long lens am i going to use smallers shape too?

  • @smasherb216 Experiment with differing shapes and see which one you like best. Cheers

  • I wish I could do this, but unfortunately I don't have the money to get a DSLR and I already tried and failed at doing bokeh shots with my Olympus SP-600UZ. The blur makes pictures look so much better, fully sharp pictures are boring.

  • @Synnergy08 Why not get a cheap SLR like the Olympus E-420? I bought mine second hand. It doesn't matter that its a low-end SLR, its still an SLR. Once you experience through-the-lens viewfinder, phase detect auto-focus and larger apertures, you'll wonder how you were ever satisfied with a compact / bridge camera.

  • Kai Wong is the best on saying BOKEH! Bokuh!

  • can you lease make tutorial video on how to make GOOD HD Quality video with 60D cuz I don;t seem to do so :(

  • Great tutorial but I was also really pleased with the look of this video itself. Really nicely lit and shot.

  • Really want to try the 'bokeh' style now!

  • @ChaosIntoComedy Great! :) Let us know when you do! :)

  • Hmmm. What can I say....

  • this is totally awesome and this tutor is super cute.

  • @denguexxx look out for next year's Photo5 competition! :)

  • @CanonAustralia That's if you can get it, 2 years in a row I have entered and not been sent the box :(

  • I like the retro background especially with the yellow tinted white but is the orange retro stereo in the background for real or is this some kind of Oz humor :P ?

  • Thanks so much for this tutorial, I spent ages trying to figure out how to take this certain type of photography!

  • Would a bokeh hood effect work on a 35mm lens?

  • thanks for this gr8 vid :) ur kinda cute too ;)

  • hey chris bray umm i just got 1 question , from where can we get bokeh? :o :$ :$

  • Thanks for the tips. I have a Sony DSC - H10. Would this work for mine since it's a point and shoot camera??

  • I pronounce it Boke Eh, Boke Ah just sounds weird.

  • Negative. It's "bokah".

I'm pretty sure the Japs know how to pronounce their own words.

  • @spacefaget Well, in saying that, the original word is Boke, which with what I know of Japanese, should be Bo and Ke.

From doing a quick google it seems as though the H was added for English readers when discussing it so that it would be pronounced correctly. As Bo-Keh.

Bo (As in Bob) and Ke (As in Ken)

I have no idea where the BoKa-Kah, pronunciation came from.

  • @mmmBax yah me too lol

  • Excellent. Easy to understand, thanks.

  • What's the song in the background?

I keep watching the video again and again Because of the song and Because the video is really awesome.

    I'll try this!

  • This was very helpful :)

    I plan on trying this!

  • What on earth is the Canon eos photo five 2009 box????????

  • What's the artist / song title for the background music? Thanks.

  • @typeincomedy If you ever find it, tell me please :3 I've been searching for it forever and can't find it anywhere.

  • It was all created specifically for this particular video series :) So unfortunately it doesn't exist anywhere else.

    Cheers,

    Canon

  • @CanonAustralia Thanks for the explanation.

Too bad it doesn't exist, it could be a hit, with appropiate vocals. :)

  • @Zooey105 looking for what

  • nice music!!!,and nice video!....

  • im going to try this tonight. does anyone know if it will work on a 24-70L? it's a 77mm filter.

  • thanks :)

  • this video is helpful, im going to try this! =]

  • Thank you for the video. I own two EOS SLR, one digital one 35mm. I have never tried this technique. Found video very informative

  • easier than it looks :) and getting that bloody bokeh cardboard thingy is a bloody challlenge in itself XD

  • Thanks Chris, looking forward to seeing some great submissions. I've had a play already and it is tricky, but once you have the hang of it, you can get some fantastic shots. Good luck all.
