We may just owe Quayle an apology. He was never as stupid as Bush's son, or Palin, or the doofuses (or should that be "doofii"?) running for the Republican nomination this time. The smartest of the bunch are Gingrich, who's unqualified on so many levels, and Huntsman, who's running at, what, 3 percent?
@UncleMikeNJ Hey Uncle Mike! I find it odd that you are making pronouncements regarding intelligence. You correctly note Gingrich, yet did not see the intelligence of GWB (can anyone that saw the shoe-throwing incident doubt it?), and somehow did not see the utter retardation of Dukakis and his followers. That shot of him in his little hat in the tank was priceless.
The candidates in 1988 were somewhat weak. One of the weakest pair of tickets in a long time. (1976 wasn't the best year either, though Ford may have proven to be a very good president had he had a full term away from the shadow of Nixon.)
@zazozung I don't think so, I think Ford was lucky to have lost. Whoever won in 1976 was going to get smacked over the next 4 years. If Reagan had won the nomination in 1976, Ted Kennedy would have slaughtered him in 1980.
In 2005 there was a riot on yard 3. Then Saturday morning there was another incident on that yard. And again on Saturday evening. It was pretty bad. 26 officers from yard 4 ran over to yard 3. All visits were cancelled. A Southern Hispanic was stabbed by a Northern Hispanic. So that riot was in retaliation to the incident. A large amount of inmates in Building 18 were involved riot so they had to convert 2 buildings into Ad/Seg because of the large number of inmates in the hole. Riots happen.
That first question is SO liberal media 101. Funny how they never compared George Bush to Dukakis in actual policy, experience and substance. All they did was lock on Quayle and Bush still crushed Dukakis. Btw, Dan Quaylle while not a smoothy was a loyal honrable VP. Certainly better than Joe Biden - who gaffes even more. Kudos to George Bush here for sticking up for him well. The public is smarter than these media elite a-holes.
@aitraining Biden gaffes more than Quayle? Biden would never say, "I wish I'd studied Latin more because of my visits to Latin America." Then again, being Catholic, Biden probably does know some Latin. Quayle was an idiot.

When Bush scolded people for making fun of Quayle's name, Dukakis should have responded "I'll bet that Pierre DuPont would appreciate your saying that !!"
@Illpol1 That's because the VP doesn't have too many duties, thank God. Yes, he has to be the President of the Senate, but they can handle their bickering on their own.

I bet you regret having voted for Obama now after 12 days as President who is about to spend 1.2 trillion dollars on top of all the bull shit our last president dumped on top of us...
@AWE319 Its because the democrats have moved to the right. And the rights has moved in to a mental hospital. The policies of the democrats is pro life. pro gun. helping credit card companies. banks. Want to keep on with the wars in afghan, and iraq. The GOPs are now just a group of religious luntatics. whos worrying that Obama is a sosicalist. Sosicalist? he not even a liberal. I know he`s not, cause he s on tv. Where are the liberals?
@Kimmis1990 The Democrats have moved to the RIGHT? The Right of WHAT??? Honestly - that assertion is so bereft of intelligence or information that it's laughable. Orwell called it "doublespeak". For you, I'll just call it what it is - stupid. "I know he's not, cause (because) he's on tv"??? You actually WROTE that? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
@BBCater if you look at the political viewpoints of the democrats. Its pretty much equal to the Gops. There 2 parties who wants continue the war in Afghanistan. Both parties wants to keep the financial system and the Israeli support. To me much its just degrees of uncomfort here. Its like having to between taking a dildo and a real dick up the ass.
@AWE319 Ron Paul? Really? All he talks about is just problems with the government. He says nothing about gas prices, he does not say much about jobs, and his age will effect his chances of even becoming the Republican primary in 2012. It would be better if we had James Buchanan or Warren G. Harding as President again instead of Ron Paul, so I say Mitt Romney for President.
@Red45Dead Where do you think these problems begin? The government. They control the media which ostracizes Ron Paul, because he is critical of federal government. Romney will just continue expanding what Obama and Bush have done: stripping more freedoms from us
You know what the difference between Sarah Palin and Dan Quayle is? Lipstick, LOL! By the way, since 1976, the Republicans have only won the white house with a Bush on the Republican ticket as president or vice president. 1976: Ford/Dole, lost 1980 and 1984: Reagan/BUSH, won 1988 and 1992: BUSH/Quayle, won for one term, but it won at least. 1996: Dole/Kemp, lost. 2000 and 2004: BUSH/Cheney, won. 2008: McCain/Palin, lost. Is there any Republican out there who can explain this?
If Quayle wasn't qualified after 2 terms in the senate and 4 years in the House of Representatives, how is Obama qualified after only 2 years in the Senate and no accomplishments? Shouldn't americans be very worried about "President Obama"?
"If Quayle wasn't qualified after 2 terms in the senate and 4 years in the House of Representatives, how is Obama qualified after only 2 years in the Senate and no accomplishments? Shouldn't americans be very worried about "President Obama"?"
Because Obama is smart. Over the last three elections, I've come to the conclusion that intelligence is more important than experience since nearly six years of executive experience didn't make Bush a capable president.
Nixon was no doubt a smart man, but that didn't make him a good pres. Also I don't really think obama is that smart - he's a good speaker when he has a speech prepared, but he's not very strong on his feet. Also I think the main problem that we've had with all presidents isn't whether they're qualified or smart, but whether they have the right principles - and I don't think any of them have.
I think some assume that Obama is slow based on his very careful way of answering questions. However, I think that he is simply an introvert and proof-reads his thoughts accordingly. Because the vast majority of presidents (and the US population) have been extroverts, many think there is something wrong when they see an introverted president. Bush paused because he didn't know what he was doing. Obama pauses because he is consciously sorting his thoughts as introverts do.
Experience is more important than Intelligence! President Uhbama, has no clue what to say when there's no teleprompter! This Obamanation is making it manditory to have insurance and those who are not insured get to be turned away by hospitals now. Under the private run Healthcare, Insurance or no insurance, hospitals can't turn you away. Also Obama and his party shut off California farmland waters. Now there's 1000s of people out of work and demanding the water to be turned back on!
Emergency rooms can't turn you away, hospitals certainly can, especially if you do not have the money. You still have some growing up to do and much research about an election and a government you know little about. Good day.
So it's ok to arrest someone who doesn't have insurance and fine them? It's in the bill. Read the bill, and a Government run HealthCare will put millions more out of jobs. Hospitals cannot turn you away if you're sick, and under Government run healthcare will certainly deny edlerly citizens healthcare, and deny you healthcare if you have a life endangering illness or injury. They will also have you wait months to years to see a specialist. Plus I thought you Libs were for the Constitution.
Don't worry about that now - that shall never come to pass, certainly not next year, but neither will it come to pass in four years, eight years, or indeed ever, as long as Americans retain their beliefs in the power of faith, hope, liberty and justice.
I liked Dan Quayle, No he didnt have the experience in 1988. But he was a good guy. And lets remember, that Left Wing Loon Dukakis got his ass beat in 88. Bush/Quayle won over 400 electoral votes!!! It was a landslide!
In 1988 the notion of the republican vice presidential nominee being a heartbeat away from the presidency was a very troubling notion. In 2008 the notion of the republican vice presidential nominee being a heartbeat away from the presidency is a very troubling notion. What a difference 20 years makes.
I doubt Sarah Palin was the best qualified person for the vice presidency. The only difference between her and Dan quayle is that she won't be elected.
Republicans, your new Dan Quayle: Sarah Palin. Of course, Sarah Palin has even LESS experience than Dan Quayle. Quayle served in the House and Senate twice each. Palin's only been a governor for 2 years and a mayor for less than 10. What gives, McCain? Thought about making her resign and actually getting someone qualified, even though I'm not voting for you either way?
Bush ridiculed Pierre "Pete" DuPont's name in the primary debates in '88. He emphasized "Pierre" one time, when it was accepted that he be called "Pete." So FU GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH., hypocrite!! (And your son's name will always be one ripe for ridicule!!, l,ao!!)
You really don't know what a communist is, do you. Such a word shouldn't be bandied about. Calling OBAMA a commie is like calling Bush a fiscal conservative.
the funny part is that Quayle actually had more experience than Obama has now yet Dukakis felt he wasn't even qualified to be VP? What happened? Now it's okay to have hardly any experience to qualify for president?
I never liked Dan Quayle. Bob Dole absolutely deserved to be Bush's running mate in 1988. Nobody was more qualified for that position at the time. I would have taken his experience over Quayle's youth anytime.
There may be a worse speaker than Michael Dukakis, but I've never seen him. It's entirely possible he lost because Americans didn't want him in their living rooms for four years. I know I wouldn't.
There is. Herbert Walker's own son, Jorge Doble U. Bush is a worse speaker. He can be entertaining, and good to laugh at, so I have to agree with you, he's more tolerable than Dukakis.
George Bush the first, was a wonderful liberal.

I know he`s not, cause he s on tv. Where are the liberals?
Kimmis1990 1 year ago
@Kimmis1990 The Democrats have moved to the RIGHT? The Right of WHAT??? Honestly - that assertion is so bereft of intelligence or information that it's laughable. Orwell called it "doublespeak". For you, I'll just call it what it is - stupid. "I know he's not, cause (because) he's on tv"??? You actually WROTE that? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
BBCater 1 year ago
@BBCater if you look at the political viewpoints of the democrats. Its pretty much equal to the Gops. There 2 parties who wants continue the war in Afghanistan. Both parties wants to keep the financial system and the Israeli support. To me much its just degrees of uncomfort here. Its like having to between taking a dildo and a real dick up the ass.

Have you changed your mind yet? the democrat party has changed all right but not for the better
superman93994 1 year ago
@AWE319 Ron Paul? Really? All he talks about is just problems with the government. He says nothing about gas prices, he does not say much about jobs, and his age will effect his chances of even becoming the Republican primary in 2012. It would be better if we had James Buchanan or Warren G. Harding as President again instead of Ron Paul, so I say Mitt Romney for President.
Red45Dead 8 months ago 2

This was probably the best Dukakis did in the entire election. Bush seemed to have him topped on every other issue and won easily.
One thing's for sure watching this clip, Bush Sr. is about a thousand times smarter than his son.
zenmachinefilms 3 years ago 2
The only reason Bush won is because he had Lee Atwater spreading lies and rumors. Bush Sr. even recognizes today how racist his 1988 campaign was.

If Quayle wasn't qualified after 2 terms in the senate and 4 years in the House of Representatives, how is Obama qualified after only 2 years in the Senate and no accomplishments? Shouldn't americans be very worried about "President Obama"?

Because Obama is smart. Over the last three elections, I've come to the conclusion that intelligence is more important than experience since nearly six years of executive experience didn't make Bush a capable president.
TheSomberlain 2 years ago
To clarify my previous comment, I meant GW Bush with his stint as the governor of Texas.
TheSomberlain 2 years ago
Nixon was no doubt a smart man, but that didn't make him a good pres. Also I don't really think obama is that smart - he's a good speaker when he has a speech prepared, but he's not very strong on his feet. Also I think the main problem that we've had with all presidents isn't whether they're qualified or smart, but whether they have the right principles - and I don't think any of them have.
dbmcmillan 2 years ago
I think some assume that Obama is slow based on his very careful way of answering questions. However, I think that he is simply an introvert and proof-reads his thoughts accordingly. Because the vast majority of presidents (and the US population) have been extroverts, many think there is something wrong when they see an introverted president. Bush paused because he didn't know what he was doing. Obama pauses because he is consciously sorting his thoughts as introverts do.
TheSomberlain 2 years ago
Riigghhhht, because president Um has said such profound things.

Mage13246 2 years ago
Emergency rooms can't turn you away, hospitals certainly can, especially if you do not have the money. You still have some growing up to do and much research about an election and a government you know little about. Good day.
Forguneif 2 years ago
So it's ok to arrest someone who doesn't have insurance and fine them? It's in the bill. Read the bill, and a Government run HealthCare will put millions more out of jobs. Hospitals cannot turn you away if you're sick, and under Government run healthcare will certainly deny edlerly citizens healthcare, and deny you healthcare if you have a life endangering illness or injury. They will also have you wait months to years to see a specialist. Plus I thought you Libs were for the Constitution.

The notion of President Palin is a very troubling notion.
daniel9991237 3 years ago 6
Don't worry about that now - that shall never come to pass, certainly not next year, but neither will it come to pass in four years, eight years, or indeed ever, as long as Americans retain their beliefs in the power of faith, hope, liberty and justice.

Dan Quayle was far more qualified than Obama. Bush was a very tough debater in 1988, a horrible one in 1992
gaguy1967 3 years ago
I liked Dan Quayle, No he didnt have the experience in 1988. But he was a good guy. And lets remember, that Left Wing Loon Dukakis got his ass beat in 88. Bush/Quayle won over 400 electoral votes!!! It was a landslide!
raiders4life2010 3 years ago
