  • i dont blame then when they hit the pylons they are horribly close together

  • lol, the pylons should have concrete blocks in them so their would be a little penalty for hitting them

  • That's stupid, it'd kill pilot's then because they would inevitably lose control.

  • I believe that was a "joke", son.

  • Ha! you think i was serous?

  • Ok there mr i like to play flight sim all day so i know everything there is to know about flying.

  • WTF Does that mean?

  • 0:37 0:44 0:50

Cutting through like butter lmao :)

  • well if a plane wing hit you at 350kmh in the arm there wouldnt be much left :]

  • lol

  • wie heisst das Lied

    i mean IT

  • what kind of money are these guys geting payed

  • You're supposed to hit em, right? I mean, more hits more points, eh? Erm..yea!

  • song here: rcsmu8GDzLE

  • What are the pylons made of?

  • Exactly my question! They shred like tissue paper.

  • well it looks like their made of paper

  • their made of a soft fabric and the pylons are constructed in seperate sections which is why if you look after a hit the top of the plyon ins a clean break, very easy to fix(only takes about 10min) cheap to repair, and dosnt effect the airplane too much. the most the pilot feels is a slight bump, and a bang from hitting it. thats it

  • thanks

  • the sections are zipped together, makes it easier and quicker

  • "they're," not their.

  • Theyre made out of a certain nylon called spinnaker. Same stuff that the sails are made from in racing sail boats. They fill them with compressed air so that they basically explode the second the plane hits them. Pretty cool.

  • Found the song name: Barely Legal by Cosmic Ballroom

  • Comment removed

  • Anybody knows the name of the song, its awesome

  • Most of the pylon hits are from london. Because the wind is very strong and abrupt

  • does anyone know the name of this song?

  • air race pilots do lots of little tweaks and mods to make there planes fasterr, for insatcee having laods of carbon fibre, aero dynamic cock pits, it all costs : /

  • INTENSEEEEEEEE

  • ME TOO I HAVE AIDGE 540 AIR ACE EPP!

    very nice plane!!!

  • How come my Edge 540 has pretty much meets the standards for everything for the airraces and yet I can only get it to two hundred

And the fastest speed I've ever done has been 270mph at a straight down dive.

Do you guys add something or take out something to improve the performance.

  • Maybe you should contact the factory and find out what kind of mods the racers use. Perhaps their lyc 540's are modified. to put out more power , probably at a much reduced tbo

  • i guess you can have too much red bull

  • im bored on cam

why cant i see the video V3

  • Does anyone know of any of these redbull air race videos where they let you see the action at it's actual 1:1 speed? Every one of them keeps changing the video speed: speeding-up, slowing-down, speeding-up, slowing-down - to make it seem all "edgy" and "cool" with the music. As someone who is interested for the planes more than the rock music, I find this really damned annoying. I can't get a feel for how impressive the pilots really are from the footage that shows faked speeds.

  • your stupid....i only saw them slowing down the speed. they are actually flying VERY fast and it looks like its sped up but its not. those pilots can handle some serious g forces. so the speeds arent "faked" just search for an actual uncut race.

  • II never said they moved the speed up faster than normal. I said they slowed it down and sped it up - which they did, to get it back up to normal speed again. If they only slowed it down like you claim, then that would mean that once it became slow it would stay slow and not speed back up to normal again. Before you insult my intelligence make sure you understood what I said. (And making a mistake like saying "your" for "you're" while trying to call someone stupid tends to backfire.)

  • I'd like to see them set it up where they have to hit pylons to score

  • what are the pylons made of? some sort of plastic?

  • They are made of spinnaker rip-stop nylon. The pylons burst immediately when hit by a plane because of the high internal air pressure.

  • @Redbullairrace How do they re-inflate them

  • @plane15man

its made of silicone fabric. There is a video explaining the pilon design and testing by Redbull.

  • There was a pilot who had to pull negative G's to control the plane, where's that pylon crash and who made it?

  • Paul Bonhomme in London 2008 'It's All Over! Pylon Crash Bonhomme, Red Bull Air Race London'. And to some extent also in Istanbul 2006 'INVERTED FLYING - Bonhomme's Pylon Crash In Red Bull Air Race Istanbul'..

  • i love the one where he hits the plyon dead-on and it obliterates into very small pieces :D.

  • why so they can die??? Ya, that would be really cool...

  • Anyone know what the music is - its great.

  • Cosmic Ballroom - track title: barely legal

  • sure?

    I dont find it xD

  • lol

"I guess Red Bull does give you wings..."

    so true...

  • I guess Red Bull does give you wings...

  • Those planes will destroy a mig at low speed maneuvering.

  • yeah but i doubt they carry missiles to fight back

  • this series of videos is clearly red bull advertising disguised as a flying competition.

  • If it is so clear, why do you feel the need to point it out to us?

  • If it is so clear, why do you feel the need to point it out to us?

  • oh really, i havent noticed that!

btw, why is that a problem?

  • thts sick!!

    looks kinda fun x]

  • if ur flying a mig in lets say the london race, by the time you turn to make your second gate youll already be in a whole other town lol...

  • G load is a combination of linear and angular velocity, you can get different combinations of both to bring on the G. If you're going 200 MPH and turning at 100 degrees per second you can make 10 g's. Fighters have a higher linear velocity but a vastly lower angular (at least in sustained turns).

  • how r the pylons constructed..... they riped so easily and they didnt ruin the plane..... is it just a cone with air pumped into it?

  • Yes, they're thin cloth pressurized with air.

  • It's still quite an impact, though. Most of these guys are flying in excess of 200 knots. POW!

  • The material used is spinnaker rip-stop nylon. Thanks to high air pressure within the pylon, this material bursts immediately when hit.

  • not very rip stop here lol XD

    GO PAUL BONHAMME!

  • what else is it used for???

  • Rip-stop nylon is used all over the place. Tents, kites, hot air balloons, parachutes, sails, ... you name it.

  • its like a cloth being pumped up with air.

  • Very cool I want more

  • You'll get more

  • ..."You must construct additional pylons."

    That'd be sooo fun!

  • wow, so cool
