  • how dare they do the review without using the dvi input.

  • thumbs up i wont suck yer guys dicks

  • I don't pretend to be a IT kind of guy, does anyone know if this monitor would work with an old Compaq Presario 3000 laptop

  • Ultrawidescreen = 16:10? This guy is a fool! 16:9 is wider than 16:10.

  • lØl_ï_sìgñed_ûp_åt_füll_tílt_pòkër

    _usìng_rêferrãl_côdë:_YOu600_ànd_gót_â_600_Ðóllar_bönûs

  • Ну эргономика типа крутая - вертеть, двигать вверх-вниз видимо действительно удобно, цвета у самсунгов вроде бы всегда были неплохие, но отчего то сомнительно что у конкурентов не окажется ничего лучше за те же деньги

  • my samsung monitor blacks out constantly

  • fuck samsung..go get dell 24 ips ;) or apple ips :> 27" :D

  • I've had this monitor for 2 years now and it is still awesome! I wouldn't buy anything but a Samsung LCD.

  • Im getting one in a few days

  • does this tv built in freeview?

  • He's not even running it at optimal resolution. No way is that running at 1920x1200. I know because I am looking at that resolution now.

  • Just get the Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM, this one is a little out-dated

  • should I get this or Samsung Touch of Color T240HD

  • or Samsung 2333HD? or any other monitor that is really good for the PS3 and my desktop computer?

  • 24 inch ultra wide, wtf, 24 wide, no, no, 24 ULTRA wide, it must be better. How many hrtz refresh rate, what are the ranges in resolution, what kind of aspect ratio options.........

  • he is promoting not reviewing the monitor

  • wouldnt be creepy if this video was playing on the moniter lol (i know its impossible) quick question is 24 inchs small like how far can u sit away and still see whats going on?

  • but its so good... :P

  • yeah i know, pass some over this way wahaha peace

  • wtf are u talking about theres no 16:11 in this vid lol

  • @madinsomania 16:10 is the aspect ratio

  • what a dumb ass...

he says that 16:10 is more "widescreen" then 16:9 wtf?

but at the same height 16:9 has a bigger width?!

  • 16:10 is larger then 16:9

its the same width, 16:10 has some extra room up at the top and bottom.

more of a square then a rectangle if you get what im saying.

    got a 28" 16:10 hanns-g 1920x1200 myself. lol with a 26000:1 contrast,3ms.

  • It was a great product and it was a great review and i feel this presenter is best of all other tiger tv presenters isn't?

  • multitask = alt+tab

  • LOOOGAAN!

  • what!!!!!!!!!!!

    hehe thats my name too.

  • Logan:X :))

  • Comment removed

  • Wow what a terrible review. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Probably has never heard of an IPS panel.

  • i have never seen a negative review from tigerdirect blog. they have no credibility because of it.

  • Looogaaan

  • Why, 6 minutes and 51 seconds of bullshit.

    Useless reviews.

  • THeyre selling the item, not a review for pros and cons.

  • lol yeah i was just wondering,....

  • LOGAN!!!! x)

  • tigerdirect needs to fix their typos....theres always at least one in every video!

  • dynamic contrast ratio is cop-out.

  • Yeah, Standard contrast ratio is like 10,000:1 these days.

  • Not on LCDs, they're usually around 1,000:1 true contrast ratio. Plasma is a different story..

  • yo dawg, we heard you like reviews, so we put a review in your review, so you can watch a review while you review ;p

  • haha thats a good one lol

  • In response to 'plmmoknijbuhvygc'

You never know, he may be from NewZeland..

  • LOOK! its a review in a review

  • these are only commercial bullshits talking only about paper parameters...real ones are far away...

  • Interesting South African turned American accent he has there.

  • he sounds kinda aussies as well

  • @plmmoknijbuhvygc American accent? He needs it to pays his bills.

  • wtf...samsung is not the world trusted brand. whats samsung meant to build anyways? they just make random bad/sometimes good electronics. i trust Sony, HP, DELL, Toshiba, Asus and other good ones that popular and good/awesome quality. i have sony laptop/TVS, HP printers, DELL desktop, toshiba laptops and othe electronic accessories by these brands

  • guess who makes most of the panels of the brands u just said... yes it sucks for u but its SAMSUNG.. They are one of the major companies hu make lcd panels.. another is LG.. :)

  • Dell is AAAAAAAAAAAAS

  • That's not to say TN panels don't have their place. Some of the newer ones (like the Samsung 245BW) offer pretty decent PQ for a very cheap price. Sadly though, price is the only advantage TN panels have nowadays. Yes, manufacturers will boast the 2ms response times but this is just marketing BS. PVA and IPS based monitors deliver much better PQ and 6ms and 5ms response times which is fast enough for ANY content.

  • 6ms (G2G) if you want someone to mention that...s-pva panels are not for gaming and ofcourse has better color gamut than s-ips and tn panels...

  • This monitor uses a TN (twisted neumatic) based panel. TN panels are known for being low quality. Viewing angles and color accuracy are really poor, which is why TN panels are not even used for LCD HDTV's.

TN is tolerable for 20' or even 22' displays, but you'll want to go with a higher quality S-PVA or S-IPS based panel for 24' or larger displays. Check out the Samsung 245T or Dell 2408WFP. These two 24' displays are a little pricey but they justify their added cost by delivering excellent PQ.

  • tn panels are the best for gaming though

  • TN panels used to be obvious choice for gaming. However, any new modern PVA or IPS based LCD is plenty fast enough to run games at 60 fps with no visible ghosting at all.

I consider myself a hardcore PC gamer. I used to use a 20" TN LCD. However, after using the Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP now for almost a year I will never go back to a TN panel. The PQ and viewing angles are far superior on this S-PVA based monitor and there's no ghosting in any of the games I play.

  • Ghosting is not the problem anymore for IPS or PVA panels if used for gaming but imput lag is, especially for PVA panels. For the rest any PVA or TN panel will kick this monitors butt. The Dell 2209WA is a cheap 22" E-IPS monitor wich I can recommend to anyone.

  • i have a hannsg hg216d 22" HD LCD monitor with HDMI port on which i play my 360

  • can anyone tell me how many VGA inputs the average samsung 24" or smaller monitor has please? thanks.

  • just one VGA and one DVI input, thats it.

  • My Samsung 21.6 inch 2253LW monitor had 2ms responce and 8000: contrast ratio.

  • I have a Samsung Syncmast 226WB it has 2MS response time.

  • nope.

if you get a TV card in your PC

or if you get some kind of cable converter that will convert xbox cables into DVI or VGA

  • could you plug a ps3 in this bad boy?

  • You wouldn't get sound though. You can plug the PS3 with a DVI-HDMI adapter.

  • "If you watch movies that kind of widescreen is astonishing perfect! 16:10!"

    ha ha ha

I havent heard any movies with 16:10 resolution ever. For movies obviously 16:9 is better.

This guy actually is completeluy lost! :)

  • It's funny how he says that this 16:10 monitor is ultra-widescreen as compared to other monitors at 16:9. Actually, 16:10 is taller (more square) than 16:9.

1920 x 1200, is an industry-wide standard referred to as WUXGA; not unique. Maybe he works for Samsung.

The next step up from this is a whopping 2560x1600 resolution (WQXGA) on Apple's 30 inch monitor. There's a wiki about screen res at:

    en-dot-wikipedia-dot-org-slash-wiki-slash-File:Vector_Video_Standards2-dot-svg

  • This clip is so fun. pretty face!?? hmm dont think so but he is good in talking alot about things he doesnt know much about. :)

I especially like the thing he says about viewingangles (3:45-3:51). That is a complete lie and he knows it.

  • He has no fucking clue what he's talking about, just a pretty face and a good personality.

  • pretty face ? wtf , u must be used to fucking ugly rats or soemthing cuz this dude doesnt have a pretty face at all

  • i just realised i dont like tigertv. they dont review anything at all. everything they tells you is everything the manufacturer tells you on like the official product site. its like an advert more than a review.i dont hear any of the down sides abt this monitor.

  • Of course they don't mention any of the negatives. They're trying to sell you the damn product. You think you'd buy it if they told you "Oh, by the way, this monitor will explode after 2 months of use" or something similar?

  • in fps games ud still get ghosting at 5ms wouldnt you?

  • a little, but its not noticeable unless you stick your face near the screen and look for it...

  • my monitor is 5ms and i notice no ghosting. u'd have to be super man to notice it.

  • I can tell this guy takes it up the rear end.

  • lmfao.

  • I have this monitor, and you can use hdmi to dvi cable to hook up game consoles or whatever you want to use hdmi for.

  • it has no hdmi?

  • hate him

  • what asshole keeps giving thumbsdown to anyone with a question...

  • a retard.

  • i dont know about u all but i got dis monitor and it fuckin owns lol super nice 4 Gaming

  • Buy one with HDMI, comes in handy...

  • What's HDMI? And what does it do? Sorry I'm kinda new do these names.

  • HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface, it's like an advanced SCART socket.

You have HD Ready(720i/720p) and Full HD(1080i/1080p).

1080p is the best you can get, you'll need a screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 like this one. Only this screen has VGA and DVI, no HDMI.

The only thing I don't know if DVI is the same quality as HDMI but the HDMI comes in handy for connecting DVD players or consoles like a PS3.

  • Thanks!

  • @MugenRac1ng 1280X720 INTERLACED DOES NOT EXIST, 1080i is not full HD(soz bout caps, cba retyping, even though I've probably wasted more time tying this..............)

  • noob question, but are these monitors able to be mounted?

  • yes it is. It's called a vesa mount and you get all you need to mount it in the box as far as i know

  • sweet, thanks man

  • no HDMI?

  • Soon I will have its successor's service, the 245B+ with 8000:1 contrast ratio. Sweet. And nice review. Very captivating. Arno should be paid by Samsung for his excellence in promoting this LCD!

  • Will a dvi cable work with a dvi-d port on monitor? i'm getting a 9800gtx video card which only has two dvi ports, but it just says plain dvi, not dvi-d, but the monitor says dvi-d. will it work?

  • can u play 360 or ps3 on this?

  • yes you can..

  • I'm on this monitor right now lol

  • haha

  • lol LOGAN is betta ^^

  • What is the difference with the 245B/245B+ ? Is it only the TN panel with a bad vertical sight?

  • Both are TN panels. The 245B+ has an HDMI input too, and an attachable speaker bar.

  • I don't know why you idiots are so concerned about HDMI. It was created to best DVI from copyright infringement to eliminate the possibility o connecting to a DVI source what would record a 1080p Blue ray for example. HDMI this HDMI that...The latest isnt always the greatest. DVI gives you the same signal without the audio. But you would be connecting that to a seperate preferably high end receiver anyway so that point is moot. HDMI is for the blind masses.

  • yea this monitor ist very nice x3

  • 2693 is legit. Got one from Short Circuit(Circuit City) for $476.

  • im getting the 2493

  • I have the 245B and it is really good value. A high 1920x1200 resolution, good design and height adjustment for about 350 euros now. Not a bad deal :P

It works great for gaming and office use.

  • that monitors the shit.

  • No u

  • LOK AT THE DATE U MORON September 21, 2007

  • yeah i agree it's shit

  • And this guy on video talk too much. I wouldn't mind if it would be review for Samsung SyncMaster 245T. Too bad that price is still high.

  • Bottom line: If you take out all good options, you get 24'' lcd (245BW) for reasonable price. It's the ''cheapest'' 24'' lcd on market and cost as much as a good 22' lcd.

  • The guy is missing most important stuff, only 160 degrees viewing angle on a very cheap ''TN/TFT'' panel, that's why picture change horribly if you move your head for only half inch.

  • Further more; no cable managment, for a 24'' lcd which is full hd monitor (1080p) without HDMI in year 2007, so it's not perfect for connecting HD players (blu-ray), tv tuners or home cinemas. Also no usb ports, it's produce noise.

  • logan all the way man, i don't like this guy

  • logan needs a break don't overwork him or else he'll get angry... and green!

  • lol

  • its 16:9 ratio monitor...

1080p is Full HD. 2600p is Extended HD (which was developed for VR technologies)

i'v go tthis monitor its fantastic but, due to SLI's limitations, i cant dual monitor :P

  • Nope, it's 16:10 ratio. Guy on the vid said it right.

  • i dont l ike it whe nhe says its full HD , it isnt , its better than " fullHD" what is full HD ? i mean u can get 2600p monitors now

  • Always be aware when a review is THAT ecstatic! Apparantly this monitor is the reason to live.

  • The 5 ms killed it..

  • This guy doesn't know anything about monitors! Unbelievable how stupid his comments are. My favourites:

    1. "compare that to other widescreens which are 16:9" - ummm, 16:9 is standard for TVs, 16:10 is standard for PCs, everyone knows that.

    2. His comments regarding contrast ratio being related to colour 'tones' are almost hilarious. Read the wiki on contrast ratio dude.

    3. As adder80 pointed out, 5ms response time being related to text sharpness. lol

The guy was just crapping on with crap.

  • agreed , most computer monitors use a different native resolution to that of HDTV's

  • I'm looking for a pc monitor. You seem to know what your tlaking about. What monitors do you recomend?

  • This monitor really sucks. The viewing angles are horrible and there is also alot backlight bleeding. I bought it cause I thought it was good after reading reviews but I was chocked by the poor monitor when I opened the package.

Luckily I could send it back within the 14 days and recieve my money back according to the law.

  • really this monitor is suck?

  • "5ms response time for ultra sharp text"... Ok bud, if you say so.

  • hahahahaha response time is for gaming, and even then you'd need it for 60+ frames.LOL XD

  • im used to logan

  • What kind of accent does this guy have? It sounds sort of German to me?

  • his accent sounds australian to me

  • I'm from Australia and this guy is no Aussie.

  • alright not tryin to offend anyone i just thought he was australian

  • South African.

  • who the hell gives a crap??

  • I'm getting the 22" 226CW. Bit smaller but awesome too, also it's 2ms response time and quite a bit cheaper.

  • has it got the same contrast ratio and res?

  • It's a 22" With 3000:1 Contrast ratio and 2ms response time. Good enough?

  • but what is the res?

  • 1680x1050

  • But for gaming to be honest 1920x1200 is unnecessary.

  • yeah but I use photoshop :p

  • The screen reads 1920 x 1200.

  • I'm getting one next month!!!!! YE!!!!!

  • Jesus Christ, this guy is a complete idiot...either that or he is LYING, because what he is saying is untrue. '3000:1 gives you 3000 tones' - wtf?? This panel, same as all 8-bit panels (which is anything you can buy under £2000) has 256 tones i.e. levels of brightness. No more, no less. Next lie: '5ms response time gives you sharp text' - wtf x 2? Response time is only important for moving images, it has no importance at all for stationary text. He is the sort of dodgy salescock I despise! GRR

  • TRUE!! "sharp text" lol! but it does have 3000:1 dcr

  • i liked his sales pitch so much that i bought three of them!

  • i'm looking for a good 24'' monitor.shall i go for it??or you guys would recommend something else.thanks:)

  • this is probably one of the best bang for your buck monitors at that price at the moment ($450)

  • I have found that since the xbox 360 only supports up to 1920x1080, and the native resolution for this particular monitor is 1920x1200, there is a bit of quality loss, but not very noticeable.

  • you can just set it to 1:1 pixel scaling and get black bars on the top and bottom- the image is much more crisp and isnt stretched

  • Are you talking about the 1280x1024 Widescreen display option on the 360 console?

  • Nevermind, I had a noob moment.

  • I just got this very product shipped in today. Absolutely loving it!

  • you can hook up 360 or ps3 to this all you need dvi to hdmi convert

  • my LG 19" LCD widescreen has 5000:1 contrast. This true?

  • can u plug a 360 into this? what cables/ports do you need?

  • all you need is the xbox 360 VGA cable

  • acer

  • PEOPLE, what do you recommend for LCD monitor, LG or ACER

  • Nah, the focus of even the best CRTs can't touch the crispness of an LCD at its native resolution. I have a high end viewsonic CRT and it is good as far as CRTs go, but LCDs kick its ass.

  • Why is it then that no one in the professional design world uses LCDs, opting instead for CRTs? Because the best LCDs in the world are still producing worthless colors.

  • Because professional design requires as accurate color reproduction as is possible?

If you do hardware calibration, then you can get excellent color reproduction out of LCDs. Something that no one ever mentions is that CRTs don't produce a perfect color gamut either. The red phosphor is particularly troublesome. I'm not saying CRTs don't still have uses, but for 99% of people, LCDs are better. Just because SOME professionals still shun LCD doesn't mean the general public should.

  • well aren't you a ssssssmart one... I prefer an LCD as a designer because everybody is moving to it and the LCD's colours are getting more accurate every day...

  • are you even listening to urself? "CRT better than LCD" come on man!

  • CRT stands for Cathode Ray tube, that means theres a huge frickin tube in the back of the monitor, meaning that its impossible to make it anywhere near the size of LCD

  • this guy has no clue about what dynamic contrast ratio means... seems like everyone on tigerdirect don´t know a shit of what they r talking about

  • i second that

  • Is that guy on steroids? Sure, it's a nice TFT screen but this guy sounds like he wants to take it with him to bed or something.

  • It's TN, not TFT

  • I think these guys got a bit muddled up with the the ratios on this monitor. 16:9 is actually wider than 16:10.

And yeah, like renegadefury said below, this monitor is a bit dated. Unfortunatly Samsung don't have a 24" equivalent of the 226bw out yet. However the bezel/stand on this one is top of the line, even if the panel ain't.

  • I would always prefer 16:10 then 16:9. my LG 19" LCD is 16:9 and I think its too wide. :(
