It all works well, but FRAPS says i have to install latest soundcard driver, and i don't have sound in my recordings, i install the latest driver for my soundcard, and it still says i need to install the latest soundcard :( why, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Go to "Filters" - "Add" - Look for&Select "Resize" filter - OK. In the new width field type 640 and in the new height field type 480 - Click Ok. Also make sure that you click multiples of 4.
i got the full version of fraps and i tried to record bits from league of legends but daaaaaaaamn it was slow, the movement was about 1 second after and it was irritating cuz i couldnt play.. guess its cuz i play on a laptop

@gamergrafix dw about why it does it but basically you have to make the the part where you change it to 720p and stuff like that change it to a higher one ... like 1080p.
@gamergrafix change the filter from home theatre -> 1080p. That is because home theatre is on default to a specific resolution allowing a specific framerate. Changing to 1080p allows 60 FPS conversion

@asdfgoogle Basically the same question. I'm able to fraps videos with audio and using my mic, but I'd rather fraps a video, then go back to try and commentate on it over the movie. I make a lot of mistakes starting out and would like to to back and cut them out in the audio. would also be nice to be able to not have the constant fan noise of my computers running while my mic is constantly on :P
@jeffzahnd What I ended up doing was recording the footage as it happens, then going back and watching it in say WMP (VLC wasn't working with fraps...) and as you're watching the video on your comp, turn down the volume (prob close to 15-20%), then start talking as the video is playing and as you're then recording WMP but with your audio too. Not at all perfect, but it was the easiest thing I got.
@asdfgoogle but re recording a recording won't work for me. The problem with my audio is my Mic also. it sounds terrible, I think i might just fraps a video then watch the video muted and talk in an audio recording program and syncing it up.
@jeffzahnd Do you have any free programs that will allow you to throw in another audio file? I would prefer to do it that way as well (freedom in customization), but I don't have a program that will allow me to drop in the video file (whether it be rendered or raw) and also let me throw in a separate audio file to play with the video.
@asdfgoogle well i'm thinking that adobe premier should and windows movie maker allow you to put a wav or mp3 file and movie file together. I'm going to try something tonight. I'm going to fraps a sc video, then watch it and us audacity (free download) to record myself. then try and put that audio with the videofile? just seems like a lot of work. Fraps allows me to do it just fine, it's just I can't cut out mistakes, and the audioquality from this mic sucks.
@jeffzahnd Adobe Premier is just a trial =\ WMM doesn't allow free modification to resolution. Since I have a 16:10 monitor, all my stuff will be skewed and look like crap. Plus to get HD, you have to download a couple files (irritating, but works... so no big deal).
Audacity looks cool. I just downloaded it, so I'll check it out soon!
After putting all the clips together into a full length video can't I just take 10min. chunks and save it that way instead of spending 15mins saving the whole thing+more time saving each chunk?
@dookerized yes, once you've saved the full video make sure to open that video again in VirtualDub, change the Video settings to Streaming Mode and then save the chunks, because you aren't encoding your already encoded video it'll take seconds.
If it takes longer and generates a huge file, you're still streaming your Fraps recording, I made that mistake a couple of times
@dookerized glad to help, you can also do it without encoding the whole file and splitting it into chunks and encoding them separately. I prefer doing it this way because if anything happens you already have the videos already arranged in order.
Also Youtube supports up to 15 minute videos now (I'd lop it off at 14:59 to be certain you aren't miliseconds over and upload the whole video to find out it's too long like I did)
@protosoul03 64 bit Windows? Download the 64bit k-lite codec pack and use ffdshow codec I'm using them with 4192 kb/s for youtube and I seem to be getting reasonable quality
I am running Windows 7 64bit and I can't get DivX to show up for compression (It seems 64 bit Windows doesn't like 32 bit drivers and I can't find any 64bit DivX codecs) So you might want to add in the description this only works for 32 bit Windows
@diggitySC 64 bit Operating Systems have issues with using 32 bit drivers. I got around this by installed the 64 bit K-lite codec pack and using the ffsdhow codec.
Also I halved the file size from 800 mb to 400 mb by also encoding the Audio (I'm using the AC-3 ACM codec). You didn't show encoding your audio in this video so if you don't do it I highly reccomend it. you'll need to set Audio to "Full Processing Mode" before you can compress it though

when i use fraps it record for no more than 30 seconds and then sotps. Why is this?

@dylsta007 You have the free trial version. To record more than 30 seconds you actually need to buy fraps.

How would you add another (or multiple) other audio files on top of the video, such as seen in a commentary?

@asdfgoogle Basically the same question. I'm able to fraps videos with audio and using my mic, but I'd rather fraps a video, then go back to try and commentate on it over the movie. I make a lot of mistakes starting out and would like to to back and cut them out in the audio. would also be nice to be able to not have the constant fan noise of my computers running while my mic is constantly on :P

@jeffzahnd What I ended up doing was recording the footage as it happens, then going back and watching it in say WMP (VLC wasn't working with fraps...) and as you're watching the video on your comp, turn down the volume (prob close to 15-20%), then start talking as the video is playing and as you're then recording WMP but with your audio too. Not at all perfect, but it was the easiest thing I got.

@asdfgoogle but re recording a recording won't work for me. The problem with my audio is my Mic also. it sounds terrible, I think i might just fraps a video then watch the video muted and talk in an audio recording program and syncing it up.

@jeffzahnd Do you have any free programs that will allow you to throw in another audio file? I would prefer to do it that way as well (freedom in customization), but I don't have a program that will allow me to drop in the video file (whether it be rendered or raw) and also let me throw in a separate audio file to play with the video.

@asdfgoogle well i'm thinking that adobe premier should and windows movie maker allow you to put a wav or mp3 file and movie file together. I'm going to try something tonight. I'm going to fraps a sc video, then watch it and us audacity (free download) to record myself. then try and put that audio with the videofile? just seems like a lot of work. Fraps allows me to do it just fine, it's just I can't cut out mistakes, and the audioquality from this mic sucks.

@jeffzahnd Adobe Premier is just a trial =\ WMM doesn't allow free modification to resolution. Since I have a 16:10 monitor, all my stuff will be skewed and look like crap. Plus to get HD, you have to download a couple files (irritating, but works... so no big deal).
Audacity looks cool. I just downloaded it, so I'll check it out soon!

Awesome video!! This got my videos online, after honestly looking for well over 5hrs over a 2-day period for a solution.
I got a couple Beat Hazard videos up. Working on a Borderlands one and possibly some HoN in the next couple days. Borderlands, hopefully tonight!

After putting all the clips together into a full length video can't I just take 10min. chunks and save it that way instead of spending 15mins saving the whole thing+more time saving each chunk?

@dookerized yes, once you've saved the full video make sure to open that video again in VirtualDub, change the Video settings to Streaming Mode and then save the chunks, because you aren't encoding your already encoded video it'll take seconds.
If it takes longer and generates a huge file, you're still streaming your Fraps recording, I made that mistake a couple of times

@dookerized glad to help, you can also do it without encoding the whole file and splitting it into chunks and encoding them separately. I prefer doing it this way because if anything happens you already have the videos already arranged in order.
Also Youtube supports up to 15 minute videos now (I'd lop it off at 14:59 to be certain you aren't miliseconds over and upload the whole video to find out it's too long like I did)

@protosoul03 64 bit Windows? Download the 64bit k-lite codec pack and use ffdshow codec I'm using them with 4192 kb/s for youtube and I seem to be getting reasonable quality

Diggity is the reason why u have the key for F6 because u have a dell inspiron and whenever u want to press the f keys, u need to press Fn? xD

I am running Windows 7 64bit and I can't get DivX to show up for compression (It seems 64 bit Windows doesn't like 32 bit drivers and I can't find any 64bit DivX codecs) So you might want to add in the description this only works for 32 bit Windows

@diggitySC 64 bit Operating Systems have issues with using 32 bit drivers. I got around this by installed the 64 bit K-lite codec pack and using the ffsdhow codec.
Also I halved the file size from 800 mb to 400 mb by also encoding the Audio (I'm using the AC-3 ACM codec). You didn't show encoding your audio in this video so if you don't do it I highly reccomend it. you'll need to set Audio to "Full Processing Mode" before you can compress it though

@Daemeous Use 32bit version of VDub... there's not really any difference and it SHOULD recognize the 32 bit codecs.. :)
