  • i fish in WA for whiting and king george....not far from the coast in a special little spot we got our limit with 4 people in a few hours

    (120 whiting)

  • Why would you target whiting for catch and release? Target a game fish atleast.

  • "We are catch and release aren't we" five seconds later "yeah we already have the legal bag limit" Faaaarking wankerrrs

  • ive been catching 45cm whiting on poppers in 3 ft of water in narooma

  • fukn small ever get any big ones

  • good work

  • Pt Sir Isaacs maybe ? caught a shit load there a few years ago .....

  • i caught a whiting i thing about 35 to 38 cm and i was happy i caught it with a bait caster reel and 6-8kg line

  • Pt Sir Isaacs mate ? ha ha filled our dinghy up there.

  • I fish in port Phillip bay and they get up to bout 42 cm but geez I would love to get over to robe and get some thumpers many great times catching these fish over the past 9 or so yrs

  • Great vid guys but king george aint the best eating fish in Australia in my opinion. Westaustralian dewfish mate. Eat that and see if u still think whiteing is better.

  • The ScooterProz is clearly not a fisherman!! I know lot's of deep water where you'll catch nothing but a cold....IDIOT!!!! Stick to the jetty mate!! Plenty of weedy whiting there for you!!!

  • with water that deep your bound to catch fish

  • i believe the best eating fish in australian waters is the coral trout :) theres no comparison.

  • yeh mate there is a comparison in my opinion. West Australian dew fish is classified and priced to be the best eating fish in Australia.

  • dont you just love the fight of whiting.

bang bang bang and ur rods bent . better then snapper i reckon!

  • more whting dont fight at all.

i was fishing at grays point for whiting and i got a hit and every like 30 seconds my rod might bend a tiny bit. Turns out i had a whiting on and hadnt realised

  • did you have heavy gear?

  • i think a 2000 shimano reel and 1-3kg rod at the time

  • line weight>

  • err i think it was 10 or 8 pound maybe lower, no trace

  • what was the rig or trace yous where using?

  • Was this on the Yorkes?

  • yea man. the fishing can be pretty good over there.

  • Yeah i live on the Yorkes i dont fish but it is pretty good

  • no it wont kill the whiting you douche bizzilions of pro fishermen use their bear hands to hold fish and none die.

  • The oil in our hands is acidic, but not nearly acidic enough to harm fish, they have scales covered in a high tech anti-friction slime, maybe you were thinking of frogs? There was an Alaskan study that showed fish released quickly had a 100% survival rate. If they were held out of water for 30 seconds it went down to 68% survival and when they were held out of water for 1min their chance of survival was only 28%. If the fish was kissed they usually died on the spot or from horrible nightmares :)

  • u should come and catch whiting in the river mersey, much better than that and bigger fish

  • hi aussie006- ummm no we acctualy caught sand whiting but yes you can still catch king goerge in WA but i think you need to go south further e.g- bremer bay was where i caught 1

oh and 50 cm!!! thats a massive whiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no u dnt need to go further south just further of shore amoungest coral , weed and sand whilst using squid which has been tenderised.

  • i agree i live in perth and if you go into 30m of water you catch heaps in about 15 mins we caught 7! i caught 1 that was the same size as my 30 cm lure i caught it on it bit a lure a whiting!!!... oh and did the bird eat that whiting?lol

  • haha na the bird didn't get it.

so you can get King George in WA?

  • i agree tastiest fish in Australia

  • G'day do you fish for whiting in 15m of water? over in melbounr we fish for then in like 3m lol

  • yea mate mostly water deeper than 10 meters where we catch the whiting

  • And you use heavy rods way different than down here man, i gotta come up and try it up your way lol sweet thanks catch ya mate

  • The deeper the water, the bigger the fish. ;)

  • i have studdied these fish for over 15 years and find them bloody tasty!!! mmyea!! good video fellas

  • If you catch & release you need to use a wet (sea water) towel, when handling the fish. Otherwise they die....

  • hands were kept moist the whole time but yes a wet towel is also beneficial but King George whiting have a quite strong natural protective mucous layer.

  • As a marine biologist, who has down 5 yrs study on K.G.Whiting they will normally die with 48 hours even with wet hands. Cause; the acicidity in our skin affects their central nervous system causes micro fungi attack. Best outcomes are as I mentioned previously.

  • OMG! You're a marine biologist!!!!! I want to be one of those when I grow up (I'm 15). I'm so excited. What's it like to be a marine biologist? Is it fun? What sort of things do you do. I was thinking of being a marine biologist and then fishing in my spare time. Do think like a fish?

  • ive seen bigger in victoria. i thought yous guys got the bigger ones. i want to come to sa for the snapper at whyalla

  • yea that one wasnt one of the bigger ones. i've caught ones over 50cm at this same spot

  • leave our snapper alone victorian. :P :D

  • my biggest snapper was caught in Whyalla measuring 11.54kg according to the australian snapper champs scales!

  • Nice :) i live in south australia but ive never fished of a boat but looks like a lot of fun
