well it's as their name implies, orbital drop shock trooper. They are launched from a ship in orbit and hit the ground behind enemy lines. It's basically the futuristic version of airborne units.

Yes, spartans are apart of a different group. ODST is a Marine Special Forces Unit. Spartans are kidnapped children that spent the majority of their childhood being tested on and geneticly altered, and they are a Navy Special Forces group.

yeah they are taken when they are 6, and trained. and put into battle when they are 11 or 12 i think.. and they gradually progress into walking tanks. but mostly all Spartans died on reach, master chief was the only one left, but i had herd somewhere that there were two more Spartans left somewhere else.

i think a movie about the marines and odsts perspective and view of the war would be more interesting then, hi im a spartan,boom boom headshot your all dead, if it were that it would just be a cheesy action movie, Chief already has a personality but its very bland. In the movie they would have to make that character have a bland personality and there would be no character development in the movie so it would suck. If you use a marine or ODST there countless things you can do with him.
