I knew Paul Peek when I was in high school in Greenville, SC. What a lot of people don't know is that Ray Stevens played the piano with Esquerita. Not the best of Ray Stevens.
I never saw Esquerita even though he was also from Greenville. My Dad worked for the
newspaper and he would see him from time to time wearing a dress.
Check out the video with Paul Peek the original guitar player for gene vincent, this video is 50 years later,He was so well respected in the guitar world that Paul Mccartney of the Beatles sent him a video of Paul, wishing Paul Peek a happy birthday, and Jeff Beck sent him a fender telecast and a fender amp for his last birthday,Paul passed away a few years ago, here is the link,we were doing a benifit for needy children.Go to my page and scan down to you see the video that says Paul Peek.
@Ezdduf4kuZ I had made a comment on "Gee, but I Miss That Girl", but my comment was blocked & because I can't understand why I chose to reject the video/song. It's was afair decision after spending 3 minuets making a positive comment that was inturn rejected by whomever. I didn't plan to listen to this one but I will tell you I like it much better!. Like in the previous case, I've never heard either these two r&r songs by Paul until this morning. Thx4 postin'
Esquerita was an Afro-American drag queen, maybe 6'5". Sort of Little Richard without the steroids. I played tenor sax on the track. We had SO much fun.
yes you are quite right..But it's probably because it's Esquerita on piano who plays an out of tune piano on purpose..so the others just joined him..don't worry it's not you....

Is it just me or does this song just sound off? I mean the lead guitar soundsl ike it's out of tune and then there's the random piano.
