  • Interesting, some parts sound like Peter's first solo album.

  • Cool track. Great lyrics.

  • Yes this is a very natural song not only is a great album but also like no other in its nature

  • If muscians can't embrace this and carry it on then they are lost.

  • are you into cellular automaton? Excellent vd.

  • this is one the best .. of the genesis.. yup i love it !!!

  • This whole album is great. I first listened to it in 1994 because my sister said it's like old Moody Blues.

  • Anthony Phillips was the unsung hero of Genesis. Unfortunately he ended up leaving the group due to health problems.

  • @funkster007 Actually, Anthony Phillips left Genesis because of his stage fright. It is a shame he did because he is an amazing musician.

  • @incubus442 You're exactly right. I forgot about that, thanks. I know he did have some recurring problem with glandular fever (or something like that) which took a toll on him physically as well. Maybe that's what I was thinking of.

  • @incubus442 You are both right, his stage fright was so intense that it began to effect his health.

  • Pre-Phil Collins Genisis < You

  • I remember lending this group an amp when theirs broke at the begginning of their career at a gig i was doing ...well done lads the wife loves you

  • This is better than most of the stuff on Foxtrot. I always liked their first album.

  • When was this jam released? It's way cool.

  • @mick50651 at least 68-69

  • @mick50651 It's kinda funny that you don't know the answer to that question because it tells you at the beginning of this video. This song was released on From Genesis To Revelations in 1969.

  • If only more songs on the first album were like this. Jonathan King made it too "sweet sounding" in some parts.

  • THANKS GOD FOR HAVING THE iNTERNET AND you tube

  • I never knew this band really kicked back then!

  • OMG I haven't heard this one for a long time. I loved this album. I used to listen to this album, and I still have it, just don't have a 'needle" to play the records I still have. Thanks for uploading

  • I never thought I'd ever hear this song again...youtube is wonderful ! It was also on a classic album called "The World of Progressive Music"....back in the late 60's, this was "progressive"..ha. Brilliant, thanks for posting this & bringing back floods of happy memories.

  • Mike, I hear your bass and it sounds great.

  • I've never been quite able to understand how being so young, 18 or so, they could write music like this. It's far far beyond their years.

  • They were younger than 18.

  • the only one was younger than 18 when the song was debuted was peter gabriel the rest were born before 1950. the band started in 1967 rutherford and banks were born in 1948 and silver and phillips were born somewhere in the 1940's

  • Actually, Gabriel, Banks, and Rutherford were born in '50. Phillips in '51. Don't know when Silver was born

  • sounds 60s....cool..

  • i use to listen to this album and the latest moody blues every single day ... loved this album

  • I love this shit more than there albums in the eighties.

  • Long live prog rock

  • Not a bad start to their career.

The best albums were yet to come though (1970 and after).

  • A new born World & the light from a curious sky : Genesis without Collins sounds blessing,

    indeed their best album

    Reminds me of VDGGenerator's debut

  • I'm sittin' here singing along to this! Can't believe I remember the words!!! Wow...I have to dig out my old albums and go out and buy a USB turntable/

  • thanks for the share rblwoclu - it is the best ever, love it.

  • this is the best Genesis album ever.best song.deeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

  • My b/f tuned me on to this song and I am so glad he did cause this song is great, it sounds like early Pink Floyd with Syd Barret.

  • Check out "The Serpant," from the same album if you think this sounds like early Floyd!

  • I like "the Conqueror".

  • It does sound like barret - like something from saucerful. Very distinctive vox from the gabster though. its unbelievable that they were school kids when they did this

  • God made religions to test our human brains. He use religion to test if we can think freely or just follow blindly others. It doesn't matter if you are Muslim, Christian, Jew etc.

At judgement day God will look at all religious people and tell them:

You guys failed in understanding my test. I brought religion to the earth to see who could think freely and not blindly follow others.

You religious people qualify to become eternal slaves.

And then God smiled to all the non-religious :-)

  • wow u are on my wavelength! great perception! i comend u for saying that :)

  • so cool very trippy!

  • Thanx for sharing, kraftneu. Aesthetics are timeless, as well as Genesis' music. Even masters should be wise enough to see that. 'Don't critize what you can't understand' - Dylan

Love 'n' light to all, by the way ;)

  • I would´nt pay to much attention to the things, that this criminal bootleg seller say.

  • One half dozen or the other Mr.Tommygun.

I think the video selection is cool for the music.
