  • Im so in love with Marlee Matlin!!! :D

  • I LOVE Marlee Matlin

  • This woman is so brave. I have no eardrum in one ear and the other will soon be deteriorated. They say there is nothing they can do to rebuild it because the radiation just did a job on them. Soon I will not be able to hear at all. I only hope that through the grace of God i will have half of her strength. As far as her dancing, a lot of it is from the vibration. She's my lady.Such character and beauty from the inside out and from the outside in.

  • I want to learn sign language!!! She is a great person..

  • damn she was on DWTS TOO, I didn't know her until Celebrity Apprentice! she gets around!!

  • JODI FROM THE L WORD. ♥

  • @itsALLforHER13 That's ALWAYS what I think of when I see her!

  • marlee is awesome!

  • I am a professional deaf dancer and vibration on the floor is hard to feel if you are dance around and jump. It take a lot more than that. I mean shoot it take heart, keeping count and beat, know when to change tempo and etc- so Marlee Matlin kick butt!

  • I wanna be on her

  • the interviewer was a little rude.... he was talking to Fabien and didnt even look at Marlee when he is talking... first rule... face a deaf person when you talk to them

  • @semiltimo i couldn't agree more with you! he was very rude.

  • she s beautiful :) i just love her

  • how do u sign language somones name that quick? lmao

  • good for her ... thats all i have to say.

  • She's so beautiful! And such an amazing actress!

  • I always thought Marlee was hot. She looks better now than when she was on Seinfeld. Awesome woman inside and out!!!

  • I never knew she was on this show! If I had known, I would have watched it.

  • me too deaf ^^

  • must to say .... i am some of agree wit tis comment... like deaf can read the lip... it true.... for example... i am deaf... and hard of hearing.... i can read their lip and understand what they said unless if they speak so slow then i will understand .. she's best

  • Thats just amazing!

  • Damn, that interpreter is quick on the words! He signs ONE second behind the speaker! FAST!

  • Marlee is amazing, and not because she is deaf. She is just very talented

  • i admire that women soo much! shes deaf and she cant hear the music shes dancing under yet she dances so on key and good its amazing! i cant even imagin how it must feel but i really adore the fact that she didnt let the fact that she was deaf stop her from reaching goals that in some other cases would be undoable!

  • @leo8182008 I agree though she could feel the vibrations through the floor I'm sure so it probably isn't as much of a difference as you'd think since the beat is what you dance to anyway.

  • To all the other people who posted comments on this video, Especially the Deaf ones, do you find it easier to lip-read or just have an interpreter on hand?

  • Since most young deaf people can't lip read....

I would have to say interpeter...

Also note that i am talking about younger deaf people, those 25 and younger.

  • Well I am deaf. But i do hear through an implant cochlear for me its easier lip reading and trying to hear as well. I am 17 years old and I took signing classes for three years and its not easy for me at all.

  • I would think cause you can hear, may not be "normal" but you hear so yo can get by with that and lip reading, I live in austin texas and almost all young adults, teens and kids just sign, there is no implants done. Only older people have those.

  • interpreters are def the best way to go.. lip reading takes so much time.. and even at my best.. (or any deaf or hoh person's best) we are at a 30% understanding rate.. so we have to use context clues and other things to keep up.

  • I'm not deaf but I'll speak for my deaf friends and say it's far easier to have an interpreter, with lipreading you're always second guessing yourself and trying to keep up but with an interpreter it's just an easy language to understand.

  • there is a guy behind the reporter telling what the are talking about

  • That guy is Jack Jason, Marlee Matlin's sign language interpreter and business partner.

  • she constantly doesnt look at the dude...how does she know waht he's sayigng...

  • that's because she's looking at the interpreter.

  • but she cant hear...

  • Okay. Here is how it works for Deaf people. Some can hear while most can't. Most of those that can hear some, like myself, don't hear enough to actually function 100% in the hearing world. In order to function equally with hearing people, we need the services of an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. ASL is the native language of deaf people in America. Therefore, you do NOT need to HEAR to SEE sign language.

  • No i know about sign language i said it wrong im really sorry to piss u off.

I meant to say she doesnt look at her interpreter when he's translating for her...not the guy asking questions.

    Really sorry...

  • Ohh no worries :)

You didn't piss me off - I just got frustrated that you didn't understand but you DO understand so I'm happy now! ;)

SMILES ALL AROUND (ok that was corny)

I'm pretty sure Marlee does what I do.. I rather look at the person I'm talking to so I can have a more personal conversation, and have the interpreter in sight out of the corner of my eye so that I can look at them if i dont understand anything the guy says :)

  • No worries just glad to see you do understand what asl and deaf is all about :)

Marlee probably does what I do.. look at the person I'm talking to for a more personal and intimate conversation while keeping the interpreter as a secondary but still in visible sight so I can quickly look over to him/her if I don't understand anything the person I'm talking to says.. I shouldn't be assuming though but yeah L)

  • Hey just wanted to say great job in breaking it down for hearing folk. I am recently deaf and have struggled to explain it to people, learning ASL but didn't already know it, and for me it is really hard to describe what it is like for me. Just wanted to say thanks!

  • Yeah, it's definitely something that hearing people don't understand until they're faced with the situation themselves :P

    Keep on truckin!

  • that's amazing... she is very fabulous! Marlee and Fabian are awesome...

  • Marlee I love you

  • Marlee is awesome! My ASL teacher is always telling us to watch DWTT, but I never have the chance to. Glad to see she's doing well.

  • I just love it, love it. This show is off the hook, than you for sharing this video with me.

    John
