seriously dude, you use the string they gave you and you can't lose the lens cap :P i've had it for a while and it has done a great job protecting the lens. you're right, the microphone placement was a bit too over zealously done, hard to vlog if you don't have a tripod, the audio is crap or you gotta hope you have yourself properly in the shot =/

@kevbutt1 It does have an S-Video port and and HDMI too... Also a Composite Video/Audio Out and on USB 2.0 port... Hope it helps ya enough! =)

Yep - I did however when I came to edit and upload videos via Windows Live Movie Maker, the videos are very jerky??? Spoke to Sanyo they told me to download VLC program - great but this is only a player and cant edit - pc world advised me to record in a lower res because i'm on vista - so whats the point in getting an HD camera - I'm pissed off - Any advice?????? What would be the best sdhc card for this camera that doesnt glitch the videos?

Tow problems: it cant stand on its own and the speakers are stupidly placed. Also the lens should have an automatic enclosure like the Sony one. If it would have that id buy it in an instant.

That Sanyo hasent fixed these problems yet is beyond me, why can almost no company no matter what they do, make something that dosent have idiotic stuff like this? I dont get it.

I have it and i can rekomend it i use it on my ps3 too watch my movies that i have filmed just plugg it in the usb and use it as un memorycardreader and there you have it. It is smal and light fits everyvhere bought it yesterday but what kind of sd cards are the best for it i am thinking about sandisc extreme lll 16gb is it kompatible whit it.

I bought the Xacti VPC-CG10 after watching this review. It takes great video, and decent photos. Because of the shape it's very easy to hold with 2 hands, making it easy to take stiller videos than you could with the Flip camcorders. The all black model is sexy as hell, and gets a lot of compliments. The battery life is good, and you can buy additional batteries for very cheap on eBay (I bought 3 batteries for like $15 USD, free shipping).

The mic is perfect on this camera no super high pitch. Its sounds great. Dont worry about flipping the screen so you can record yourself , the sound is still amazing!!! That was the biggest worry I had, but not anymore its sounds super good!!! Go buy this camera now you will not regret it!!!

You normally add the slow motion effect during the editing process in a program such as maybe Adobe Premiere (I haven't played around with it much, but I'm sure it's there). I don't think I've seen a camera that does slow-mo for you =\

@chingandchongseries needs a tripod... :( but they do sell this extremely mini tripod. its like a half inch plastic triangle that lets it sit up by itself for like a couple bucks

its very worth it. another tip is for low light situations you might have to set the ISO and Exposure manually to greatly reduce the noise from the camera. the auto function does this sometimes. but manually dialing it in makes it 100% times better

(cont...) Also, you have to take the battery out of the camera every time you want to charge it. You can't just plug in a cable and charge it that way. You have to remove it and put it in the separate charger unit and then plug THAT into the wall. There's no way to maintain a charge even when you're at home and have wall outlets available while shooting.

I wouldn't recommend this camera unless you could get it for less than $100. There are much better cameras on the market for much less money.

I was really disappointed with this camera. At $200 the video quality is noticeably worse and much more blurry than a $99 Aiptek camera. This is inexcusable.

Video in low-light settings is awful. No external mic option. The AV-out cable is WAY too close to the tripod screw hole, so you can only use one or the other at a time.

Sanyo, the zi8 has 1080p at 60 fps, but is still a point on shoot pocket hd camera, as this shoots 720p, but is a full manual which you can not find anything close in the 400-500 dollar price range, this is top dog, also when you shoot with the zi8, it kinda looks green.

Just got mine today from Radio Shack and I'm charging the battery right now. I can't wait to use it. I took back my Kodak Zi6 lastnight cause it couldn't handle moving objects to well. I have this camera, and a Sandisk video HD SDHC memory card, but when I put the card into my computer, my computer won't recognize the card, and when I try and use the card reader function on the camera, it only recognizes pictures. What I don't get about the Sanyo Xacti models are that the "handheld" ones like this one shoots really high quality high defenition pictures, but the Xacti TH1 which is more expensive and is supposed to be better, shoots "high defenition" video that isn't even high defenition. The white balance is way out, the colour calibration is terrible, it goes into soft focus too easily and the picture is so fuzzy as if the lens is dusty. Why are these ones better?
