@nilradem You're totally right...I wasn't doing my math. I just knew that JTE played keys for his dad at some point, and that looked an awful lot like him. My mistake.
Easy mistake to make. I don't think Justin toured with him until the Transcendental Blues tour, though I would have to look it up. I have a bootleg from that time, and Justin did a couple of his own songs... good, but nowhere near the confidence and stage presence he has now. Have you heard Justin's "Time You Waste"? Steve put it on his "Just an American Boy" live album, and I know it has been uploaded here on youtube.
That awesome alot of young people need to love more classic good music I'm 19 and I live Hank williams Dwight yokam, Charlie Robinson, Bruce Robison and so many other great artist.
@engelsliebe100 good for you, my friend! yeah,i'm one of the moms, 54 yrs old, grew up within spittin' distance of STeve Earle in Texas and have been a fan for years and years. He's one of the best singer/songwriters to ever live, i believe, and speaks the truth in so many ways. you hang around 20 more yrs, he will still be here. take care.
oh, yeah, i don't know where i was when this was around, moving fromTX to MN and not really all that aware of this precious soul then...what an incredible artist and so many years of gifts fo us all....yeah...joanna
They all look young and excited) Little did they know the dark days that were to follow for Steve Earle. He survived it all and became even better once he was sober.
That would be guitarist, not "giyartis" - how the hell that happened I don't know!

The giyartis is an incredibly young looking Richard Bennett

Pretty sure it is Mike McAdam, who was Steve's guitarist at the time.

JTE was 5 years old in 1987. He is talented (and tall), but that is not him. Ken Moore was Earle's keyboard player at the time.

Hey pretty baby are you ready for me
It's your good rockin' daddy down from Tennessee
I'm just out of Austin bound for San Antone
With the radio blastin' and the bird dog on
There's a speed trap up ahead in Selma Town
But no local yokel gonna shut me down
'Cause me and my boys got this rig unwound
And we've come a thousand miles from a Guitar Town
