  • Damn like GUY LIKE HIS FRIEND jERRY jEE- LONG AGO WITH G/F

  • Also, "So he died."

  • One of the best lines ever: "and he lost the thread and his mind got cluttered and the words just rolled off down the gutter"

  • Please post instant coffee blues. :)

  • The melody reminds me much of Randall Knife

  • Texas singer/songwriter, Makes me think of the days the train would scream through town and not stop.

  • I've enjoyed Guy's music for years... he's one of the most incredible songwriters I've ever heard.

  • Guy is still laying it down....older and better

  • I SO love Guy Clarks music!!! His imagery transports......

  • Guy Clark is awesome, I love his music. What a talent!!!

  • it's all here love for them2 from us all here on Ireland...it is!... We all on Ireland love Alice!...and they's goin ta have many lovely Dallas nights together!!!

  • it is here on Ireland...it is!...

  • It's a shame country music has such a strong connection with the Republican redneck south.....they don't exactly have my political views over there.

    But this is awesome.

  • "Hurrah!" I joyfully exclaimed. "Hurrah for the man from Texas!" ...Mattie Ross

  • just let him roll

  • just let it roll

  • God Bless Guy Clark!

  • Thanks, loved this, the picture of Mr Natural made me smile.

  • Damn I do love this mans' music!

  • In 1976, High Fidelity Magazine gave this album a rave review, & since I was a big Jerry Jeff fan, I snapped it up(or rather, I ordered it, since Guy wasn't somebody that the Cheap Trick/BTO/Led Zep-loving record stores in my area would. Got to wonder if "Texas 1947" is about Monahans, Tx., where Clark is from. BTW, CS1953, I'll always remember a 60-something English brewery rep at a beer convention in San Francisco suddenly putting down his bev and saying "Oh, I say, that's Jerry Jeff Walker!!"

  • One of the finest albums ever made, thanks!

  • A great singer song writer this should be a country classic.

  • The new generation includes Adam Carroll. Ryan Bingham, Hayes Carll even Robert Earl Keen even though he is a little older. All of them are great

  • Guy clark, Townes Van Zandt, And Steve Earle are the best songwriters to ever live and all close friends. Each one of them changed my life in a different way and I salute them all with the respect they deserve..

  • The vocals from Emylou always help......5000 hits and so few comments.....thats the way

We dont have songs named after towns in the UK...well not many

  • my first experience with liking country... and i agree... one of my top 10 albums of all time...just wish i could find more guy clark on youtube

  • Thanks for posting this. I was listening to him this morning driving around El Paso and wanted to post this song on my Facebook page. This album IS a classic by one of the best Texas songwriters ever!

  • They're well-known to every songwriter down here in Texas, for sure. If you're interested in the next generation, you should check out Adam Carroll and Gordy Quist to name a few. Not much here on youtube, but you should be able to get their CD's somewhere.

  • it's a shame, townes, guy, n' the rest of the texas songwriters from that period aren't any more famous now than they were back n the day

    thanks for postin

  • Rabbitsfoot

THey are probably more well known in the UK than they were in the 70s due to several specialist radio shows on the BBC..like Bob Harris Country and his saturday night show
