this video portrays autism as a disease like cancer, it isnt, my son is autistic, he is the most wonderful child i could have wished for, i wouldn't change him for anything and firmly believe he was a gift to my husband and i.
If you use electricity, then you can thank Nikola tesla, inventor of Alternating current.
If you are using a computer, you can thank Bill Gates.
If your house is powered, it is likely partially powered by nuclear power, thanks to Einstein.
ALL of the people I have mentioned are believed to have been on the autistic spectrum, and if you really do appreciate what they they have discovered, you can start by not trying to cure us.
Maybe we aren't the broken ones, maybe those judging us are.
@natimaxx You are very disrespectful to those that have children with Autism. What if your parents aborted you because they didn't think you would be perfect? Obviously you are not perfect so don't jusge others.
With a diagnosis of autism you should be able to receive state intervention at no cost, not even based on income. At age 3 the school board should take over. Dont be stonewalled. Dont be put off or shut down. DEMAND the attention your child needs or you are going to the media. Ive been through a similar situation and you have to be your childs advocate. and in the meantime keep reading, doing puzzles, etc. Also, file for a disability check on her
My busy (500+ pv/week) chiropractic office has several parents who "KNOW" it was the vaccines that damaged their children. There is no doubt in their minds. It is a parents gut instinct to smell when somethings wrong and correctly tie it to the causal agent. We don't have time to wait for "Sham Medical Science" to catch up and realize something is wrong with the allopathic-pharma health system (more like "death system"). Don't vaccinate till it is proven "Vaccines do more harm than good".
Autism is a horrible disorder and i have a friend whos brother suffers from it and my best friend had it too. So you can shove your crap and respect this poor little girl.
@chiropractic47 I will never be convinced that vaccines cause autism. You want to know why I say this? My son is autistic and didn't get the vaccines that supposedly cause it until after the autistic characteristics were well documented in him. I will never be convinced that vaccines did this to him. I'm more prone to believe it's due to advanced parental age or spontaneous mutation. Until we know for sure, we need to keep an open mind. Let's not jump on the wagon too soon. Too much is at stake.
@TheRealVenna A child doesn't have to directly vaccinated to be brain damaged. Your son recieved both genetic information and toxic load from you and you from your mother and her toxic load. You passed both your mothers and your toxic load plus genetic mutation to your first born...your autistic son. What I described is the mystery breaker for those who became autistic without direct vaccination. G-d bless.
@chiropractic47 You are making a LOT of assumptions. my autistic son isn't my first born, he's my 6th and all my other 5 are developmentally normal. This 'toxic load' he supposedly got from me and me from my mother, etc., NON existent. My parents didn't immunize me or my siblings and my mother wasn't either growing up. Her mother was a child prior to immunizations, therefore your point it not valid with me. Again, nothing you say will convince me. Time to stop trying.
@TheRealVenna You lied! Your mother, you, and all your children were vaccinated! If you'de check your older posts you would have been smart enough to not deny thiis grizzly facts. Peace.
@chiropractic47 You are making assumptions again and putting words in my mouth. Yes, I had my other 5 children vaccinated, all of them are normal. I had one vaccine at age 16, that was it and it was only so I wouldn't get kicked out of school again. My mom was not vaccinated, her parents didn't believe in it (same as mine) and my grand parents were children well before vaccinations were routine. I don't appreciate you defaming my character. You should stop now, you're embarrassing yourself.
@TheRealVenna Thanks for clearing up the confusion. Your unvaccinated autistic child falls into the 5% of autistic children who recieved the heriditary trait for mitochondrial mutation. All others were injured by vaccines.
@chiropractic47 This point hasn't been proven in any way. I personally feel it's best to not automatically assume in situations like this. It can close the mind off to other possibilities. You aren't a child behavioral specialist or even a specialist in internal medicine. I would try really hard to keep from stating your opinions as fact. You are not the defining line here and you should stop acting like it.
@TheRealVenna The former head of the U.S. Institute of Health along with tens of thousands of MD's are certain there's a link between vaccinations and the majority of autistic cases...having that we all agree with this as a matter of fact, most childhood vaccinations should cease till a thorough investigation is conducted.
@chiropractic47 Vaccines do far more good then harm. I feel if vaccines were to blame, there would be more cases of autism then there already are. I don't feel vaccines are the culprit and Again, nothing you say can convince me. It's really convenient to blame it on something you disapprove of. How about you stop trying to hard to convince me and start looking for other potential possibilities? This is a pointless exercise and if you can't stop yourself, well I'll stop for you. I'm done.
@TheRealVenna In 2007 the director of the CDC and former head of the National Institute of Health went on the record that they felt there was strong link to vaccines and autism. You don't consider one out of 120 children becoming autistic following vaccination an insignifiacant ratio? Two years ago it was one out 150...Or is this just a coincidence? We must cease most vaccinations until a multinational "no" special interest consortium delves deep into this most disturbing and horrid situation.
My step mother gave birth to two autistic children. And let me tell you, they are AMAZING. Joseph just turned 7, he speaks almost full sentences despite some letters and pronunciation. He's my life, I spend every second with him, even if he gets into my things or does things he's not supposed to. Kenny is 11 and he's a grouch, but he's just as amazing. In my books, autism is a blessing from God that changed my life. At 14, I plan to become a special education teacher and spread awareness. <3
The Quakers don't get vaccinations, and they have ZERO Autism.
STOP GETTING VACCINES OF ALL KINDS, especially the FLU shot. This year the FLU shot has H1N1 in it. (see youtubes by Drs. Mercola, Blaylock, Leonard Horowitz)
STOP GIVING YOUR DAUGHTERS THE HPV SHOT -- at least search all the Youtubes of deaths, seizures, and other results from it.
@deckarx You would agree with that if you saw the state of funding resources for the mentally disabled once they hit 21. Uh....where do you htink the homeless come from??? a hell of a lot of them were mentally disabled to begin with, and this country falls way short of providing adequate money for housing and jobs.I go to these "adult day centers " all the time and they would make you cry....warehouses as depressing as dog kennels.
I'm the mother of an autistic daughter and I wouldn't have her personality any other way. She's an absolute joy to have around. I know they'll never be a cure and frankly I don't want one I don't believe she'd be the same if she was cured. I've worked very hard getting her to the little amount of speach that she has but her favourite thing to say is I love you. I love being a mum and proud of my girl.
@J01946 earth to mom, earth to mom!!!! you wouldnt want a cure??? wow...uh...how are you planning to support her for the next 60 years??? It doesnt bother you that she wont ever have a normal human existance??? what will happen when you are gone?? Havent thought that far off, have we???
@Hadeydeppio I have an autistic son and have been dealing with autistic people for 22 years. Its a spectrum disoreder, but no one seems to be able to admit how devastating autism really is. Come to my sons school, his summer camp, and his day care center. Ill show you all the autistics you want who are so helpless they cant function without 24/7 supervision. Theres 8000 of them waiting for placement in NJ now. Why no one woulod want a cure to help them is....hard to figure out.
@carol3hawks God bless you.Alex is 21 and we have never had a conversation.
But know that your son Does love you, he just cannot expess it. And if the idiots on this site would stop dissing a hope for research and a cure maybe someday our boys will live decent normal lives.
Two of my children, now 7 and 12, just got diagnosed with ASD. One talked at age 5 and we were told to wait and see. Despite repeated attempts to figure out what was wrong, she just got pushed aside until recently when she was diagnosed at age 12.
Doctors failed to look beyond his chromosomal disorder. I repeatedly asked for answers to his speech disorder, which we finally got overturned from *speech delay* to *full blown profound apraxia* when he was 5. At 7, we 're just discovering this ASD.
my daughter is autistic as well, considered moderate with severe sensory issues, while my son is autisim spectrum. Do you ever have people tell you theres nothing wrong with them? I get that all the time. The people who tell me these things don't exist need to back off, just be lucky you don't have reason to understand how real and troubling the issue really is.
@silverheartbullies thats because so MANY people dont know what REAL autism is, or what it entails. People think autism is an exotic cool way of thinking that makes you a twisted sort of genious. WRONG!!!! my son looks normal from a distance, but try to speak with him you will get no where.
Thanks to you, this video may help raise awareness. My son was diagnosed 30 years ago, autistic, and down syndrome at birth. He has no speech, but is capable of communicating his needs only. Imagine.... No internet, no books on autism, no understanding. Hopefully now, the needs of the ones with autism will be met, and they will have a better future.
@carol3hawks I think about women like you all the time. I think I would have jumped off the roof if I didnt have a VCR and video games for my son which blessedly took the place of what once would have been relentless self abuse and repetative poinless behaviour. I am sure you are one hell of a mother, and your boy is a lucky son.
the stats are wrong, i don't know whose are though. Autismspeaksvids says 1 in 150 children have autism, and American diabetes association statistics say 7.8% of the population has diabeties, which is 11.7 out of 150. So this video's stats are way off. I'm not saying autism isn't a big issue, which it is, but it's really out of proportions.
@RBASSMD8 many people confuse autism and aspergers. there is no epidemic, but many disorders, such as bipolar, ADHD and such are starting to come in. and down syndrome and fetal alcohol syndrome are now considered "distant relatives."
@ultradumbass The way I perceive it is that the criteria for autism are expanding to include more people, and Autism is similar to many other disorders in some aspects, so those other disorders have characteristics of autism as well. But they may not have autism. A lot of disorders have shared characteristics.
And Aspergers is a form of autism. High functioning autism and Aspergers are similar and are sometimes hard to distinguish.
@RBASSMD8 Yes yes. Also, back in the 90s, most school districts, suspecting a learning disorder would not label a child til kindergarten figuring most of them were "late bloomers". Then they realized IF a kid had autism he needed early intervention FAST!!! so it got to the point where anyone not being typical at age 3 was instantly labeled to get intervention.Obviously a lot of them grew out of it, making people htink autism is "curable"
@ultradumbass Absolutely correct. 30 years ago 90% of the people calling themselves autistic today would not have even made it to the charts...theyre lumping everyone in together cause the symptoms overlap.
By the way, youre obviously a smart person with things to say...Change your screename!!!!!
@Hemitris Experts say that autism (the entire spectrum) has grown to a rate of 1 in 110 . I'm just assuming that it's true, but I don't know for sure.
@Hemitris It has been way overdiagnosed, thats for sure. Autism has become the new buzz word for anyone having trouble fitting in.It USED to define a specific disorder in which the person was a virtaua statue, incapable of any response whatsover....although with early diagnosis and interventiont thats changed a lot.But I run into people all the time, working, married, driving, etc and they all insist they are autistic.
@Hemitris I believe the stats here were speaking of children only. Many people develop type two diabetes which is completely preventable. Possibly it's type one in children they were talking about? I don't know and it doesn't really matter. I personally don't believe autism can be cured, but treatment can help an autie communicate and deal. That's all I want for my son. I believe more focus needs to be put on helping those already diagnosed then trying to find a cure for the future.
@TheRealVenna The viruses from vaccinations attack the pancreas causing Type 1 diabetes, plus infect the gut too= IBS, chrones, and ulcerative colitis.
@chiropractic47 And that has what to do with autism? It still doesn't explain how my son developed autism, nor convince me that vaccines caused autism in my son. I stand by what I said. Not enough information is available to declare unequivocally one thing over another is the cause of autism. Just saying we need to keep an open mind about this so as to not limit ourselves and potentially miss something more important.
@TheRealVenna I have too much info. but enough space to explain specific mechanism of vaccine-brain damage and vaccine-autism relationship. In simplest terms: Adjuvents in vaccines cause the brain cells to be much more permeable to water, allowing fluid to leak into the cells. The ensuing swelling (hydrocephalus) destroys/alters brain tissue. Adjuvents in vaccines cause mitochondrial damage; altering brain function. Aluminum, a neurotoxin, is now used in place of mercury (thimersarol.
Research has proven that low functioning autistics no congenital things like retardation present has shown that low functioning autistics posses average to above average IQ's. Yet they are ostracized and treated as stupid which is wrong.
I would like a world where autistics are treated with respect.
Yes Piper your 100% right & Blunt u need to go read more about Autism Speak's. when a "charity" spent $65 milloin on themselves & ONLY $1,674,000 miloin on Autism SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!!
There are retarded kids and not retarded kis. The really retarded autistic kids, that's good but I want to mention when it is an excuse for people to raise thier kids like fools. Or unknowingly raised to be transgender. Why are more BOYS autistic? Becuase most parents dont want the world to see they put the soul of a girl in a boys body. I hate when these parents use the name of Autism to cover their, you could say, failure as a parent.
@Amerifunk85 really retarded kids?! that so wrong to say that it's HIGH OR LOW FUNTIONING! RETARDED IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO SAY IT!! AND WHAT'S UR POINT ABOUT AUTISM WITH THAT COMMENT SURPOSE TO BE? THAT UR IGNORANT OK i GET IT!! UR A FLIPPING IDIOT!!!!
@Nikstarlin Retarded is not a dirty or bad word.It adequately describes a lot of autistic people and helps explains the difficulty they have in learning. "Intellectually disadvantaged" just doesnt sound as bad, and we want to sound bad, or you wont get any funding.
@Amerifunk85 female brains tend to have stronger verbal and communicative skills than male brains so they dont suffer the effects of autism as badly as males unless they are also very retarded.
@HeaIthyThinking US people are the worst patients, IMAGINE how much money to spend on real problems if people Didnt smoke, didnt drink to the point of alcoholism, didnt didnt screw around and get STDs every 5 minutes and didnt VOLUNTEER to pay for cancer producing tans.Play a agame with yourself today...count the number of people Over 100 pounds you see today {go to Walmart for a start}and then diss US healthcare.
@Taraterm2 i see your comment is 2 months old, but i just want to ask.... 100 pounds? really? i'm 100 pounds and i'm short and i'm very close to being underweight! i don't eat enough because i obsess and read wikipedia for hours on end and forget to eat (i have asperger's)
also i don't understand why you hate people with high-functioning autism so much. autism speaks is a disgrace. i'm not against therapy for the lower-functioning, however i am against autism speaks and their message of hate.
@torakokoneko I meant 100 pounds overweight, of course.
I dont hate Aspergers people. Never have I ever said I hated Aspergers people. Show me one place where I have said ONE thing against Aspergers. But I do want to see cures happen for people afflicted with serious autism, the ones that are helpless for life. Dont you??AS helps spread awareness for the people who cannot speak for themselves, and by that we mean seriously autistic people who absolutely dont communicate or have a future.
@Taraterm2 No, Autism Speaks spends the money it receives on propaganda in the same distorted vein as Hitler's depictions of the German Jewry. What's left pays their inflated, tax-free salaries (at least a dozen of which are in excess of 120,000) and to fund eugenics research which aims to identify autism with prenatal tests. Such a test, combined with such propaganda will lead to the same abortion rates that followed the prenatal test for Down Syndrome (90-93%: Prenatal Diagnosis Journal).
good video, keep up your strength, you're a great mom! I particularly liked the part where it said parents are the first to recognize... and that professionals say wait and see, oh how true, unfortunately.
What a beautiful video. Reduced me to tears. I wish you all the best with getting the help your daughter needs. I will be also more grateful that I live in Australia and receive Govt funding to help my 4 year autistic daughter. Although it is not near enough it is something.
@sharonwandin Hi, I am the father of a 3 year old autistic girl, and we live onthe Gold Coast, QLD. We have just started looking into therapies and found that it will cost around A$60,000 per year trying to help our girl out of her condition ($40,000 being the ABA therapy).
$12,000 funding only counts as pennies compared to what our kids have to go through, I wish we lived in a country where our government warned us against the vaccinations beforehand, rather than helping with a few dollars.
@IstanbulRider Its been proven that vaccinations are not the cause, and even if they were, you risk a much higher chance of retardation blindness and death to measles and scarlett fever, aside from speading it to other children and pregnant moms.
You are entitled to services for free and your school district should be paying for them.
my son has autism and luckily his insurance covers speech and OT but not ABA so Im going to go to workshops and study books look at videos to do what I can to give him ABA since I cant afford it. Im not going to wait 2 years which is a waiting list my son is on to recieve funds for therapy I will help him something is better than nothing
@Janpeeples Oh for goodness sake. They didn't say that. They said that about autism. Not their daughter! They obviously love their daughter to pieces. I have a child with this disorder and I love him so much it makes my heart burst but do I wish he didn't have autism? Absolutely!! But I definitely want HIM in our family.
my little sister has autism and she is very smart for her age shes 8 and she knows the whole spanish alphabet taught HERSELF how to play the piano and she is quiet good at it if I do say so myself she knows more then we think and I bet you're daughter dose to she very beautiful and I can say that people with autism are smarter then us my little sister know when i'm in the room even when shes turned around I think for her autisim is not a curse but like a gift
@BluntObject1234 Autism Speaks reaches out to parents of autistic kids who are so abnormal they cant have regular lives. They dont care about people who dont have problems. If you are a little weird, cool. But AS helps the kids who dont have a shot at a decent existance. They are robbed of family, friends, independence. Why would you diss an organization trying to help the severely disabled and get them the funding they need??
I know your comment is a year old but im sorry, would you like to have your child be nothing more than door knob polishers and bagging groceries in Fishers? An autistic child should receive services so they can interact with their typical peers and guess what? An higher education! In which only 3% of people that is within the Autism Spectrum Disorder has ever graduated college. Kinda speaks volumes if you ask me. People with Autism can do so much better than bagging groceries
@heyou2424 His point still stands. Autistic individuals still have no say in their organisation. This is wrong, considering that maybe some of us don't want to cure ourselves or others.
Early intervention and speech therapy can most certainly help, but Autism Speaks would rather forcibly "cure" us than get up help. There are other organisations out there. Do some research, and you'd be surprised.
Don't sit and say she will never be never do! That ios the WORST thing you can do help her learn to overcome her challanges! She needs love and support. the diffrence betweencancer aids and autism? aid and cancer kill! Autism isn't going to kill her. She isn't dead she just needs your love and support put not your faith in some cure to come from a corrupt organization and put that faith into your beuatyful child because with out it she wont overcome he challanges.
@Nikstarlin wow. just wow. you have no self respect. Maybe this will change your outlook. A young boy, about 13 years of age, has autism. 3 boys, took him to a graveyard, and Sexually abused him, because he was different. they left him there, by himself, alone, scared, and confused. The boy had 5 seizures while he was alone, and was in ICU for 182 hours. He couldnt give descriptions of the boys, because he was scared they'd hurt him again. They did that to him because he was different. THINK.
@PatriciaDandFriends thats precisely the kind of horror story we worry about, and everyone here yelling AUTISM IS COOL only contributes to the misery. They have no idea what we go through loving and protecting kids so vulnerable and helpless. They just keep yapping that Einstein was autistic. That doesnt help me get programming for my son or keep him safe.
@Taraterm2 Why would you want to program your son? Do you realize without autistic people, you would still be stuck in the DARK AGES. Democracy, the light bulb, the computer, the internet, the iPod, the assembly line, most mathematics, existentialism, the scientific method, quantum physics... all the brain children of Aspies and Autistics. It's not just Einstein. Aspies do and create for the doing and creating in and of themselves, not for greed or gain. Humans can't survive without us.
@SamBaker1991 Many of them are suspected of being autistic, but how many of them do you think actually are autistic? I'm willing to be it's only a small handful of them.
Einstein is a fine example, and we can verify that he was, well, eccentric, but autistic? Maybe, maybe not.
Not everything good in the world is of autistic origin.
Now, before you cry "CUREBIE!" you should know I'm diagnosed as a HFA. I'm just a realist.
@Piper227 You always have to have hope and try your best. But for many parents{like me} you also have to be realistic and understand that this is the great grandaddy of neurological disorders, and its silly not to plan for their future way in advance so the supports will be there.Statistically, yeah, most real autistics will require a life time of persoanl care and support. Why doesnt anybody know this??? Why do you think theres a 25 year wait for group homes???
I am autistic myselfand while there are the seemingly unsermontable challanges i truely feel it is a gift. It took years of aba therapey speach therapey and tones of love and support to get me where i am today. I would not support autism speaks! They tend to use offencive adverticing None of the money goes to helping indaviduals on the spectrum. see not your childs falts but her gifts. She is a bueatyful child.
@Piper227 Im happy for you, but in gratitude for how far you have come you should support all Autism organizations that seek cures and funding for autistic issues. A real autistic cant read, write, speak coherently or understand whats going on. THOSE are the ones we care about....not the ones who apparently can care for themselves.
I am a support worker in North Wales, around 75% of my service users have Autism and I agree there is not enough funding into research. It must be hard for a parent of a child with autism although I am sure there is a lot of support groups/clubs out there.
Just a small pint on the last post. Djdecker543, to say the little girl is not normal is a little insensitive, people with autism are just like you and I in terms of being normal so you shuld think about what you write b4 writing stuff.
@iaindyer1982 My son is autistic and HE is not normal. He is absolutely out of his mind, and so are most of the kids he goes to school with. They cant be left alone for a minute.That...is not normal.
It's not a "Mortality" issue like aids etc but there is miles more research and funding for other causes than Autism.
We know AIDS is an STD, We are developing cures for Cancer and We have treatments for diabetes, all highly accessible.
I can use a condom for sexual relations, I can stay away from cigarettes and carcinogens and I can watch my sugar intake to curb myself from all the diseases you mention.
How do I protect my unborn children from Autism if the cause is not known
Let me say this video made me cry. Let me also say, as a mother of a PDD little girl, I'm glad that my daughter will be able to have ABA treatment for free, paid by my own health insurance, thanks God. God bless people and politicians that can see that these can let our kids have a better way of life, and they need it NOW. There is no waiting list, THE TIME IS NOW.
Please check out a great Children's book about Autism, PDD and ADHD called 'Why Is He Different?' (Please spread the word about this unique book, tell your friends and tell me what you think about it. Big thanks!!). You can preview it on youtube profile called Monalisaknew. Just copy and paste the following sentence in youtube search window: 'Why Is He Different? (Autism Book)'
You can also buy this book on AthsePublishing(dot)com. Thank You !!
How dare you imply that being autistic is some how something bad that the AIDs, cancer and diabetes epidemics are not as bad as they are. You should be very ashamed of yourself for behaving in such as horrid manner.
Insurance companies are new in funding treatments for Autism and other Spectrum Disorders and unfortunately are still businesses. The problem is, the BEST treatment for Autism is Applied Behavior Analysis. Unfortunately, Behavior Analysts are not as highly regarded as MD's, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, etc. I am a Behavior Analyst in the State of Tennessee and there ARE other options. (I'm running out of room, so I'll continue in the next comment).
I've done my research and it seems as though the insurance companies are abandoning coverage for quack treatments. I studied psychology in High School. Jenny's only source of education is Google and her "Mommy Instinct." I am perhaps the only person on YouTube who has a video that criticizes Jenny and her ignorant followers.
Not true. Insurance companies are not looking for "quack treatments", as ABA is quickly becoming a highly recognized treatment for Autism.
I also disagree with you saying the only source of education is Google. That is just plain wrong. There are multiple resources available including Waiver funding through each individual's State program. Jenny would qualify for waiver services in all States that provide ABA treatments.
There are a number of resources if you know where to look.
You really misunderstood me. I never said that insurance companies are looking for quack treatments or that the only source of education is Google. I said the exact opposite. I said that Insurance companies are not covering quack treatments for autism. I also said that Jenny McCarthy's only source of information is Google. I took psychology in High School, so I have a good understanding on how the brain functions.
Fair enough. However, with all due respect, taking a psychology class in high school doesn't qualify you to understand how the brain functions.
If you understood Applied Behavior Analysis, you would understand behavior isn't shaped solely by chemical imbalances in the brain (that is why ABA is the most highly regarded treatment for Autism and other spectrum disorders).
I would encourage you to take a bit more schooling if you are looking to have a better understanding.
I know. ABA stimulates the areas of the brain that control communication and behavior functions. That's what makes it so effective. However, you really should see how many quack therapies are out there.
Yet again you speak of "cures" maybe I may make a suggestion. Try acceptance instead, Autism is hugely diverse, the eugenics involved in this cure for a genetic condition would involve the abortion prior to birth of an entire generation of children like your own. My apoloies but that seems an extremely high price to pay.
My son is autistic and just graduated with his bachelor's degree from college! He has made so many leaps from that first diagnosis 22 years ago. I thank God for putting the wonderful people in our path that helped get him where he is today. We found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, as the dean put the diploma in his hand at graduation. God bless all of you parents that are beginning this road to find new reachable goals. Precious friends, there is hope..don't give up..stand strong!!!!!
Awesome! Congrats to your son and everyone who contributed to his life. Autism isn't a crutch, and your son is living proof of that. You must be a happy parent.
What a beautiful little girl! My son was severely autistic -- no language, no eye contact, no social skills, no play skills at age 2. He didn't talk until he was 5. Now at 8, he is in a regular 2nd grade classroom all day. Don't get me wrong...he still has a long way to go and still has language and social skills deficits. Just don't give up hope!
we are the dreamers and the innovaters. The songwriters and the ones that tech you tolerance and acceptance. We are not sick do not heal us. The one with the problem is the one that thinks we are the ones that need healing. My son came up with his own language before he could speak english. We all have hi IQ's in my home and wish that our Youngest has it as well so that he is as gifted as the rest of us
@nagaempress Goody for you!!! want to donate to my sons trust fund so he has a place to live for the next 60 years??? because he is too autistic to know whats going on. Be anyone you want to be, but dont get in the way of people wiht real problems.
@Taraterm2 Don't assume you know anything about my family. I have FOUR autistic kids. Don't get in the way of people with real problems? I take care of mine, I am sure you take care of yours.
@nagaempress My son is not a dreamer nor an innovator. He is 22 and carries a teddy bear.He cant speak read or write and spends most of his time pretending to be a Canadian goose. If youre thrilled with your brand of autism, cool, I personally think it sucks, and Autism Speaks speaks for the kids like mine who wind up in locked rooms with no life because services are SO expensive and funding so inadequate. And theres TONS of kids like mine, cause theyre all on the waiting list in front of me.
@Taraterm2 I pray for you and your son. We need to band together as parents and not tear each other apart. I don't believe there should be a waiting list for services. I really believe that the money that goes for paying the heads of the "Non profits" should go to children like your son. God Bless
@nagaempress Well you are right there, and the real villains arent AS as much as your local DDD. They LIVE to create bureaucracies and waste tons of money hiring way too many people and creating all sorts of bogus reasons for existing. They also refuse to help in guardainship issues forcing parents in NJ to spend 5 grand to get guardianship of their loved ones. And they deny services all the time citing the fact that autism is a mild disorder that makes you a bit weird. That kinda hurts!
@Taraterm2 You bet that does. Ignorance isn't bliss...These people need to wake up. My son was looked at by our local school and they said there was nothing wrong with him. Even thought they were helping our Dr with a diagnosis. OT looked at him..nothing wrong again.... privately diagnosed with Aspergers/ADHD and had to see an OT for hand weakness. These people just don't want to pay for it even though it isn't their money so we get no help. You bet that hurts. I homeschool my son I am his para.
you are the most non sensative little piece of shit, they are not retarded, that is a cruel and judgemental word only to be used to describe yourself mikeyboiskater, their is no god you dick sucking piece of shit, this video was made inspite of shit faces like you and it shows people that we need to work on this problem
@poopsnose Many of them Are retarded, or suffer from developmental delays so severe they never catch up. How DARE you refute the existance of these people and get in the way of their getting funding and services!!! if I met you on the street a Id rip you to shreds. Its bad enough living with an autistic person without people like you denying their problems!!! Real Autism is a real, honest to God tragedy and we parents are doing the best we can!!!
this video portrays autism as a disease like cancer, it isnt, my son is autistic, he is the most wonderful child i could have wished for, i wouldn't change him for anything and firmly believe he was a gift to my husband and i.

Autistic individuals become cross wired due to vaccinations injuring the brain.
chiropractic47 1 year ago
@chiropractic47 I will never be convinced that vaccines cause autism. You want to know why I say this? My son is autistic and didn't get the vaccines that supposedly cause it until after the autistic characteristics were well documented in him. I will never be convinced that vaccines did this to him. I'm more prone to believe it's due to advanced parental age or spontaneous mutation. Until we know for sure, we need to keep an open mind. Let's not jump on the wagon too soon. Too much is at stake.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna A child doesn't have to directly vaccinated to be brain damaged. Your son recieved both genetic information and toxic load from you and you from your mother and her toxic load. You passed both your mothers and your toxic load plus genetic mutation to your first born...your autistic son. What I described is the mystery breaker for those who became autistic without direct vaccination. G-d bless.
chiropractic47 11 months ago
@chiropractic47 You are making a LOT of assumptions. my autistic son isn't my first born, he's my 6th and all my other 5 are developmentally normal. This 'toxic load' he supposedly got from me and me from my mother, etc., NON existent. My parents didn't immunize me or my siblings and my mother wasn't either growing up. Her mother was a child prior to immunizations, therefore your point it not valid with me. Again, nothing you say will convince me. Time to stop trying.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna You lied! Your mother, you, and all your children were vaccinated! If you'de check your older posts you would have been smart enough to not deny thiis grizzly facts. Peace.
chiropractic47 11 months ago
@chiropractic47 You are making assumptions again and putting words in my mouth. Yes, I had my other 5 children vaccinated, all of them are normal. I had one vaccine at age 16, that was it and it was only so I wouldn't get kicked out of school again. My mom was not vaccinated, her parents didn't believe in it (same as mine) and my grand parents were children well before vaccinations were routine. I don't appreciate you defaming my character. You should stop now, you're embarrassing yourself.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna Thanks for clearing up the confusion. Your unvaccinated autistic child falls into the 5% of autistic children who recieved the heriditary trait for mitochondrial mutation. All others were injured by vaccines.
chiropractic47 11 months ago
@chiropractic47 This point hasn't been proven in any way. I personally feel it's best to not automatically assume in situations like this. It can close the mind off to other possibilities. You aren't a child behavioral specialist or even a specialist in internal medicine. I would try really hard to keep from stating your opinions as fact. You are not the defining line here and you should stop acting like it.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna The former head of the U.S. Institute of Health along with tens of thousands of MD's are certain there's a link between vaccinations and the majority of autistic cases...having that we all agree with this as a matter of fact, most childhood vaccinations should cease till a thorough investigation is conducted.
chiropractic47 11 months ago
@chiropractic47 Vaccines do far more good then harm. I feel if vaccines were to blame, there would be more cases of autism then there already are. I don't feel vaccines are the culprit and Again, nothing you say can convince me. It's really convenient to blame it on something you disapprove of. How about you stop trying to hard to convince me and start looking for other potential possibilities? This is a pointless exercise and if you can't stop yourself, well I'll stop for you. I'm done.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna In 2007 the director of the CDC and former head of the National Institute of Health went on the record that they felt there was strong link to vaccines and autism. You don't consider one out of 120 children becoming autistic following vaccination an insignifiacant ratio? Two years ago it was one out 150...Or is this just a coincidence? We must cease most vaccinations until a multinational "no" special interest consortium delves deep into this most disturbing and horrid situation.

He's my life, I spend every second with him, even if he gets into my things or does things he's not supposed to. Kenny is 11 and he's a grouch, but he's just as amazing. In my books, autism is a blessing from God that changed my life. At 14, I plan to become a special education teacher and spread awareness. <3

At 7, we 're just discovering this ASD.

the stats are wrong, i don't know whose are though. Autismspeaksvids says 1 in 150 children have autism, and American diabetes association statistics say 7.8% of the population has diabeties, which is 11.7 out of 150. So this video's stats are way off. I'm not saying autism isn't a big issue, which it is, but it's really out of proportions.

RBASSMD8 1 year ago
@RBASSMD8 many people confuse autism and aspergers. there is no epidemic, but many disorders, such as bipolar, ADHD and such are starting to come in. and down syndrome and fetal alcohol syndrome are now considered "distant relatives."
ultradumbass 1 year ago
@ultradumbass The way I perceive it is that the criteria for autism are expanding to include more people, and Autism is similar to many other disorders in some aspects, so those other disorders have characteristics of autism as well. But they may not have autism. A lot of disorders have shared characteristics.
And Aspergers is a form of autism. High functioning autism and Aspergers are similar and are sometimes hard to distinguish.
RBASSMD8 1 year ago
@RBASSMD8 Yes yes. Also, back in the 90s, most school districts, suspecting a learning disorder would not label a child til kindergarten figuring most of them were "late bloomers". Then they realized IF a kid had autism he needed early intervention FAST!!! so it got to the point where anyone not being typical at age 3 was instantly labeled to get intervention.Obviously a lot of them grew out of it, making people htink autism is "curable"
Taraterm2 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@ultradumbass Absolutely correct. 30 years ago 90% of the people calling themselves autistic today would not have even made it to the charts...theyre lumping everyone in together cause the symptoms overlap.
By the way, youre obviously a smart person with things to say...Change your screename!!!!!

Taraterm2 1 year ago
@Hemitris Maybe, but autism is far more devastating, costs more to deal with and pays a much higher human price.
Taraterm2 1 year ago
@Hemitris It has been way overdiagnosed, thats for sure. Autism has become the new buzz word for anyone having trouble fitting in.It USED to define a specific disorder in which the person was a virtaua statue, incapable of any response whatsover....although with early diagnosis and interventiont thats changed a lot.But I run into people all the time, working, married, driving, etc and they all insist they are autistic.
Taraterm2 1 year ago
@Hemitris I believe the stats here were speaking of children only. Many people develop type two diabetes which is completely preventable. Possibly it's type one in children they were talking about? I don't know and it doesn't really matter. I personally don't believe autism can be cured, but treatment can help an autie communicate and deal. That's all I want for my son. I believe more focus needs to be put on helping those already diagnosed then trying to find a cure for the future.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna The viruses from vaccinations attack the pancreas causing Type 1 diabetes, plus infect the gut too= IBS, chrones, and ulcerative colitis.
chiropractic47 11 months ago
@chiropractic47 And that has what to do with autism? It still doesn't explain how my son developed autism, nor convince me that vaccines caused autism in my son. I stand by what I said. Not enough information is available to declare unequivocally one thing over another is the cause of autism. Just saying we need to keep an open mind about this so as to not limit ourselves and potentially miss something more important.
TheRealVenna 11 months ago
@TheRealVenna I have too much info. but enough space to explain specific mechanism of vaccine-brain damage and vaccine-autism relationship. In simplest terms: Adjuvents in vaccines cause the brain cells to be much more permeable to water, allowing fluid to leak into the cells. The ensuing swelling (hydrocephalus) destroys/alters brain tissue. Adjuvents in vaccines cause mitochondrial damage; altering brain function. Aluminum, a neurotoxin, is now used in place of mercury (thimersarol.

$12,000 funding only counts as pennies compared to what our kids have to go through, I wish we lived in a country where our government warned us against the vaccinations beforehand, rather than helping with a few dollars.

Taraterm2 1 year ago
@Taraterm2 Why would you want to program your son? Do you realize without autistic people, you would still be stuck in the DARK AGES. Democracy, the light bulb, the computer, the internet, the iPod, the assembly line, most mathematics, existentialism, the scientific method, quantum physics... all the brain children of Aspies and Autistics. It's not just Einstein. Aspies do and create for the doing and creating in and of themselves, not for greed or gain. Humans can't survive without us.

@SamBaker1991 Oh yeh...keep justifying...OMG
circusmaximus10 1 year ago
@SamBaker1991 Many of them are suspected of being autistic, but how many of them do you think actually are autistic? I'm willing to be it's only a small handful of them.
Einstein is a fine example, and we can verify that he was, well, eccentric, but autistic? Maybe, maybe not.
Not everything good in the world is of autistic origin.
Now, before you cry "CUREBIE!" you should know I'm diagnosed as a HFA. I'm just a realist.
kmgcatcousin 1 year ago
@Piper227 You always have to have hope and try your best. But for many parents{like me} you also have to be realistic and understand that this is the great grandaddy of neurological disorders, and its silly not to plan for their future way in advance so the supports will be there.Statistically, yeah, most real autistics will require a life time of persoanl care and support. Why doesnt anybody know this??? Why do you think theres a 25 year wait for group homes???
Taraterm2 1 year ago

@Blackstarzero
TheJahNix 2 years ago
U can use a condom. Its quite effective.
Or you can accept that life has variations. There are millions of factos you cannot control about your unborn child. autism is one of those factors.
spend the money educating parents and give them the assistence they might need.

(I'm running out of room, so I'll continue in the next comment).
mptn1245 2 years ago
I've done my research and it seems as though the insurance companies are abandoning coverage for quack treatments. I studied psychology in High School. Jenny's only source of education is Google and her "Mommy Instinct." I am perhaps the only person on YouTube who has a video that criticizes Jenny and her ignorant followers.
aspie101 2 years ago
There are a number of resources if you know where to look.
mptn1245 2 years ago
You really misunderstood me. I never said that insurance companies are looking for quack treatments or that the only source of education is Google. I said the exact opposite. I said that Insurance companies are not covering quack treatments for autism. I also said that Jenny McCarthy's only source of information is Google. I took psychology in High School, so I have a good understanding on how the brain functions.
aspie101 2 years ago
Fair enough. However, with all due respect, taking a psychology class in high school doesn't qualify you to understand how the brain functions.
If you understood Applied Behavior Analysis, you would understand behavior isn't shaped solely by chemical imbalances in the brain (that is why ABA is the most highly regarded treatment for Autism and other spectrum disorders).
I would encourage you to take a bit more schooling if you are looking to have a better understanding.
mptn1245 2 years ago
I know. ABA stimulates the areas of the brain that control communication and behavior functions. That's what makes it so effective. However, you really should see how many quack therapies are out there.
aspie101 2 years ago

Taraterm2 1 year ago
@Taraterm2 I pray for you and your son. We need to band together as parents and not tear each other apart. I don't believe there should be a waiting list for services. I really believe that the money that goes for paying the heads of the "Non profits" should go to children like your son. God Bless
nagaempress 1 year ago
@nagaempress Well you are right there, and the real villains arent AS as much as your local DDD. They LIVE to create bureaucracies and waste tons of money hiring way too many people and creating all sorts of bogus reasons for existing. They also refuse to help in guardainship issues forcing parents in NJ to spend 5 grand to get guardianship of their loved ones. And they deny services all the time citing the fact that autism is a mild disorder that makes you a bit weird. That kinda hurts!
Taraterm2 1 year ago
@Taraterm2 You bet that does. Ignorance isn't bliss...These people need to wake up. My son was looked at by our local school and they said there was nothing wrong with him. Even thought they were helping our Dr with a diagnosis. OT looked at him..nothing wrong again.... privately diagnosed with Aspergers/ADHD and had to see an OT for hand weakness. These people just don't want to pay for it even though it isn't their money so we get no help. You bet that hurts. I homeschool my son I am his para.
