i think it was josh in the basement. he was posessed by the witch's spirit and killed his friends, making mike face the corner as he killed heather.

@noah2k1 I'll explain. In the beginning of the film one of the townsfolk says a part of the myth of the blair witch is she'd face one of her child victims towards the corner, then make the other child she'd captured watch as she killed the corner facing one.

Hence the creepy as fuck ending :)
