  • Look whats happened to me

I cant believe it in myself

suddenly I m upon top of the world

    Hero in somebody else

    Beleieve it or not

    I am walking on air

  • @rebelloc23

I believe it's "It should've been somebody else" not "hero in somebody else"

  • @borgqueen Oh Thanx dude, I didnt got it when I listened

  • Nice. My dad and I used to watch this when I was a kid.

  • This show was the best! This and Hardcastle and McCormic were good for their times. Oh and Fallguy too!

  • They don't make shows like these anymore. Wished they did though.

  • I used to watch this. I only remember he had trouble flying. lol

  • OMGoodness....i would sing the hell out of this as a kid when it originally aired! I love youtube.

  • wish i can go back to these days

  • @charles71a You can. They are called memories.

  • @charles71a ye i know ;)

  • why is his logo the chinese character for center

  • @sjconker64 The series creator said he got the idea for the logo from the shape of a scissor on his desk.

  • I use to like this show back in the day i was i think 7 back then. Im still not sure why it was taking off air so fast. My guess looking back the show never had a "target audience" Was it a kids show or was it for adults? Must of have been the question back then.

  • @bacardipr05 - William Katt explains what happened - although the show was very popular for a few seasons, there were some problems near the end as the show's creator, Stephen J. Cannell, wanted the episodes to be more character-driven, whereas ABC wanted to appeal more to kids and make it a "monster-of-the-week" show. Plus, SJC's son died while filming the "Captain Bellybuster" episode, and it kind of went downhill from there.

  • "I can fly about as straight as a bug hit by a can of Raid" 0:29-0:32

I always remember William Katt? gave that answer (or something close to it) to Robert Culp when he was coming up with a plan for our hero to fly right up to a group of villains and tackle them Superman style.

  • Takes me right back! It wasnt all that bad a show..for a 8y/o kid

  • cool

  • This is probably one of the best TV show theme songs there is. I myself didn't really care for the actual show though......Didn't watch it much. The song was played on the radio a lot and I believe was for a while a top 40 song back in the 80s

  • Such a feel good song!!

  • Love this show!!!!

  • Still a great show!

  • The aliens gave him a replacement manual in one episode, but he loses that one too. He finds out how to shrink, then places the manual on a "boulder", then he returns to normal size...the manual is still on the "boulder" which is really a tiny pebble.

  • @OrionSyndicate Don't forget they gave him another instructions book with alien language.

  • This was a very good show, and very unappreciated at the time. Connie Selecca was hot, Robert Culp was funny and William Katt was perfect in his role. The theme song was awesome too. Great show. The idea that he lost the instructions for the suit was great.

  • I loved this show as a kid. As I remember, the main character fell down a lot. Love the song.

  • Youtube is my time machine. Thanks youtube because when I need to see how good I had it when I was a child, I can just log on to you and you can show me the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This show was great

  • Connie Selleca is an all-time beauty!

  • i adore it !

  • lol @ Wesleech

  • yupntoo funny!i like it and remember it!love it!

  • I'm glad I grew up in the 80's, I was spoilt with great shows like this!

  • @magburner I know what you mean, they used to really put effort into the writing on these shows. The humor on GAH is spot on and the chemistry between the characters is so real. I only see this very rarely nowadays on TV.

  • LOL @ that scene with the cape in the restaurant - he had to pretend he was a thespian advertising a local play - "George Bernard Shaw's 'Man and Swooooooooperman!'"

  • @KiraJenLove That scene made me laugh because it's exactly the way a local theater thespian might act, lol.

  • @NeverDoubt1 - it was also funny because Ralph was intellectual enough to even come up with something like that off the top of his head - I mean how many people know that play? :)

  • @KiraJenLove Oh yeah definitely, there is a reason he fits the suit. ;)

  • You did a great job on this video! Some of the best and funniest scenes from the show! I love it! :)

  • Well, Lady.... You're part right. Except this is one of three best T.V. show intros. Don't forget The Fall Guy, and The A- Team. Oops, four. I forgot W.K.R.P.

  • I just recently ordered the 1st season of this, and to be honest, I'd much rather watch something like this then anything /anything/ on TV today.

  • @ladyandatramp I saw all 3 seasons (The Complete Series) on DVD on walmart.com for like 16 dollars. Where, I live @... I don't see none of The Greatest American Hero DVDs no more, When I go shopping. I bought all 3 seasons when they first came out, I preorder them. I think the set @ that time was selling for around $100 and now it's $16 but the $16 one is made by another company. If u want to read my comments look @ the others I typed on here. Have a good day :)

  • We all need pair of them jammies

  • When I'm havin a bad day I can watch this vid and feel better....takes me to a happy place...gotta love the old days full of good clean fun ...

  • @1Manhattangold def. takes me to a better place as well..and i see sooo many other people do the same thing...its like an escape ...to something normal..that should tell us something...the world is a mess...

  • His special power was being somehow memorable after a very short run on TV

  • Dunno why this show wasn't a bigger hit..................it was unique, creative and held this then-11 year old kid's attention. Maybe it was too ahead of its time..........................

  • Sadly, as a 1990's person, I missed this piece of art. For those of you younger than fifteen, though, you should be familiar with a cartoon named Danny Phantom, a show with a similar premise. It was great, but what it lacked was this song. THAT would have completed the show. A song this great can make the Twilight movies good.

  • So loved this show as a kid and I still do. I know if they gave me a super suit I'd lose the instruction book too!

  • lol, sooo loved this show. would really enjoy a quality remake, maybe a couple of cameos from the survivinng cast??

  • LOL!! Some of those scenes look pretty funny. I'm watching the series on Netflix, but I haven't seen some of those yet. Probably in the 2-hour pilot episode?

This is definitely one of the most popular TV theme songs of all time. I think it made it to #2 on the top 40 in 1981.

  • Believe it or not, this is a showtune.

Even then, its better than half of what we hear on the radio.

  • This show need a comeback something fierce.

  • This was a very good show that wasn't appreciated as much as it should have been. Robert Culp was a riot.

  • He never really got that "flying" thing down, innit?

  • Used to love this as a kid, I can't believe one of the crap channels in the UK hasn't rerun it.

  • thanks for posting this. i remember this show as a kid. it was like superman but funnier.

  • dear hollywood:

please make TGAH the movie starring will farrell

  • @27dcx Please don't ever become a casting agent in Hollywood. Your taste in actors is disgusting and probably a reflection of your intelligence.

  • @OzPublic I disagree. And um prittee smartt, 2.

  • @27dcx for real ...lol.lol...lol.....

  • memories...

  • this is THEEE best tv show intro song!!! when is this show coming out on DVD??

  • @ladyandatramp The show is already out on dvd. But this video isn't the original intro to the show.

  • @borgqueen I wish there would be a new TGAH on a network or even cable and hold off on a movie series. RIP, Stephen J. Cannell. You are missed!

  • @ladyandatramp

    LOl

So he sees a UFO, and the Aliens drop a suitcase with a spandex hero suit to give him superpowers. WOW! I'm getting myself some Spandex. I loved that girl in this series. She was hot. What was her name, Connie?

  • @ladyandatramp IT HAS BEEN OUT WE HAVE SEASON 1.

  • @ladyandatramp ive got this song on 45 vinyl record

  • @ladyandatramp

its already on DVD. for a while now. check amazon. i got it at my local walmart.

  • @ladyandatramp its already out on video all 3 seasons BUT some of the songs that were in the series such as rocket man have been replaced by original music I guess they didnt want to pay licensing its too bad

  • Dang, the Cinema Snob got me addicted to this song xD

Never got to watch this show as I was born way after it ended, but it DOES look like an interesting show. Now here's hoping that Hollywood doesn't ruin the memories of the show by "updating" it with a poorly-made movie cash-in!

  • I never saw this in England, only the Irish republic when i lived there, even had the theme tune on a single, what good memories it was

  • Greatest American Hero, the accidental superhero.

  • oh my god i loved this show when i was a kid. Thank you for posting this!

  • robert culp!! lol...

  • I liked it as one of the best at the time, and now after not seeing anything about this show for many years, it is immensely more special - especially comparing it to the mostly filthy stuff out today.

  • No Doubt - one of, if not the BEST show ever -- so many quality aspects: clever, funny, warm, different, dramatic, loveable - - - beautiful. At the time, many people dismissed it as too goofy for them - their intellectual (arrogant) selves, but, they were not even catching many of the suttle jokes & idiosyncrocies of the relationships and situations. People who do not catch the beauty in this program are just stuffy, old, stiff and/or bitter ugly sad souls.

  • @Daaoouu - I totally agree! You know, when I was watching this show in prime-time, I was about 13 years old, and pretty immature. I was recently afraid that if I went back and watched the show again, it would be too "campy/cheesy", and that I would weep with embarrassment. However, I started watching it on Netflix, and I was pleasantly surprised! I found the show entertaining and funny, with some poignant scenes I loved the sniping between Bill and Pam (or Bill and Ralph). (cont'd)

  • @Daaoouu - (cont'd) I found nothing "embarrassing" about it at all! In fact, I can't wait to see the next episode! (Even though I know I watched them all 30 years ago - I've just forgotten).

  • If this was made into a movie today, who do you think would make a good Mr. Hinkley?

  • This is one of my all time favourite shows, the premise is so original, I mean, imagine getting a superhero suit and losing the manual??? Brilliant. This has all the marks of a great movie! Jonathan Ross's wife should write it. Where can i get the bluray of this? Love it.

  • This was William Katt's best work but now he wants nothing to do with this show

and is trying to forget he ever starred in this show.

  • @Immortal1000 That is not true he does picture signings and comic con about the show. He even said himself he did not realize what a special show it was back then, but realizes it now. He is very cool about it all.

  • awesome what a superhero drama.it is been long time.ya why not make it into movies in 3D its gonna be amazing&funny.one of it i like the songs believe it or not.

  • the song is what I like believe it or not!!!!

  • why not a movie allready? its got such a great story line.. oh but yeah lets remake Piranha.. bastards.

  • @Wesleech You are 100% correct! Please petition TGAH or Cannell or somebody to get this party started.

  • @Wesleech , thats funny, watching this intro, i was thinking with all the remakes like halloween, true grit, etc. why in the world have they not made this one & air wolf, six million dollar man, fall guy, the flash ( as in barry allen's tv flash verion), (a better) he-man movie, flash gordon, hunter, simon & simon, wonder woman, a tango & cash sequel, another ghostbusters movie, another back to the future movie & a mr. brooks sequel. and lastly knight rider movie (not the shitty new tv remake)

  • @riddickvonsayian There suppose to start shooting ghostbusters 3 in may. but who knows if it will actually happen. Im totally with you on Mr. Brooks, sequel or prequel.. i dont care, i just want to see that character again.

  • I think Anchor Bay done a awesome job on all 3 seasons of this show on DVD. I liked it so much, I bought it again by the same company... It was a tin case with all 3 season the instructions book, cape and logo for a t-shirt. This was my first favorite tv show back in the 80's. I always wonder, What would it been like if they continue the story line and would they finished it after season 3. I know there was a spin off on season 3 but.... They ended the story.

  • ... memories...

  • awesome

  • La canción y la serie me recuerdan los últimos años del colegio. Genial!

  • i love the theme song--brings back so many memories...long live the 80s!

  • this was a cool serie :)

  • cinema snob intro

  • Actually I would argue that this is more of a 70s show than an 80s show. Its the beginning of the 80s and has a lot of leftover 70s stuff in its sensibility.

  • When I was a kid, I wanted to be an FBI agent just like Bill Maxwell... Wound up being a special ed teacher like Ralph Hinkley. just wish I had a "super suit" from the "little green guys" LOL.

  • dont bash rap cause u dont like it.every style of music has its flaws.u should think b4 u speak.every music artist can make or break their music style! this is a beautiful theme&song by the way.thanx 4 making it

  • Why isn't this on the radio more often? I have to hear some rap monstrosity coming from every other car on the road, but this is never played? Also a screen should pop out when it comes on that shows the iconic shot of the UFO hovering over that old car, plus William Katt and Connie Sellecca rockin' their early '80's wardrobes.

  • @chainbluelightning1 - if you were to hear this song at all, it would most likely be on an Adult Contemporary station (that plays older pop rock). But even now, I'm still not hearing it there. Not something you'd hear on a rap station.

  • SYFY has a marathon on today of this show

  • i got this tv series. so wonderful. man, the new generation gotta watch it.

  • This was an awesome video! You rule for taking the time to put it together.

  • The funniest thing about this show is that guy's hair. lol

  • @DeepDeepSpace - LOL! I know, it strikes you as weird at first (not many guys have hair like that, except maybe Christopher Atkins), but it grows on you after a while. Makes me want to run my fingers through it - among other things. ;)

  • Hey, anyone who loves this show, listen! The SyFy Channel is airing a 20-hour marathon of the Greatest American Hero on July 4th (starts at 8 a.m.). This is the FIRST TIME it has aired on television since its cancellation back in '83.

  • one of the greatest show theme songs EVER! The actress that played Pam his wife was so beautiful back then too!!

  • this is one of the most 80's comicTV series i ever saw, a guy who gave his powers from "who knows" to serve some greed FBI agent, powers by the way not works 100%

  • YOU ROCK!!!! OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THIS SHOW!!! I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!!THE 80'S RULE 4-EVER!!!!!!!!!!1

  • what is the song's tittle ??

  • @ronaykeren 'Believe It Or Not" by Joey Scarbury

  • The entire series of the gratest american hero is on dvd for all of the seasons the show was produced and you can get them at any Best Buy or Walmart type stores...

  • To bad this show didn't last to many seasons. It was classic.

  • What always cracked me up was how he didn't know how to stop when flying so he always had to hit something like a wall or a tree to stop! LOL

  • This could make a good tune for an answering machine to tell people you're not home when in reality you're just avoiding someone and you're screening all incoming calls. "Believe it or not, I'm not home". Constanza was a genius of our time. Haha!

  • i so LOVED THIS SERIES WHEN I WAS A KID..:) i WANTED THAT sUITE!!

  • I love this song, it works so well with the show. Also William Katt does a great job, his performance reminds me a lot of Buster Keaton (Also I'm 20 so that says a lot about the show and its lasting effect)

  • This was awesome. My brothers and I never missed it. It entertained us for an hour and made us forget our problems. Sad to hear about Robert Culp.

  • Take 3 steps and leap you idiot! Love these days!

  • that darn sure is a rock solid american hero, alright

  • Another Retro favorite..too funny. yeah and for you little ones..this was a true show..A little kid taught him how to fly...

  • que recuerdos tan vacanos, me acuerdo de esa serie como si fuese ayer, en los 80s debieran rencaucharla con la misma banda sonora, no me la perdía por nada del mundo todos los sabados por la tarde.

  • Is that the girl who played in the movie Zapped w/ Scott Baio ?

  • Those were the good ol days! I grew up watching this show religiously.

  • I used to love this show!

  • @lastmiles Not sure about the "whole DVD set", but I do know the 1st and 2nd seasons are on DVD as I have both (I haven't bought many TV Show DVDs in the last few years).

  • If someone were to say the whole DVD set was available and it was $200 or so .. I'd buy it. I could sit down and watch this with my kids and not be concerned about violence, curseing, or anything but plain old good entertainment. That seems to be something you can't even buy anymore.

  • you guys know he was close to being Luke Skywalker? and Kurt Russell might have been Han Solo- that actually wouldn't be bad but it's hard to imagine now

  • R.I.p. Robert Culp.Thanx for posting this,brings me back :-) the 80's rule !

  • believe it or not. i'm not hoooome!

  • I wish they would hurry up and put this on Blu-ray.

    RIP Robert Culp.

  • PLease remember Robert Culp today as he passed away at the age of 79 after he fell and hit his head outside his home this morning... Ole Flat Top Maxwell will never be forgotten... RIP Robert... We all love and miss you...

  • I just rediscovered this series 2 days ago. I watched when I was a kid. How sad that Mr. Culp passed away just this morning.

  • 3d wud be gud just for ralph flying.but no wires or mirrors ho ho

  • this series was broadcasted in italy in the mids 80s and in early 90s. Very popular. I think the main actor was a geek, but it was quite funny.

  • I'm watching this show on Netflix right now and it completely reminds me of "Chuck" which is on NBC. Same type of characters and situations...Chuck is excellent!!!! However, I am enjoying GAH.

  • wacked on the head with a gulf club, constructon tractor falls on me, broken bones, stiches, I'm just glad to still be healthy and live some fond memories.

  • Oh yeah! Those memories when I was a Child!!!

  • one of my favorite tv shows from the 80s. The theme song was actually a hit that got into heavy rotation on the radio.

  • @initotaysubay4 I Agree with u, ABSOLUTELLY!

  • It's the best one I've found on YouTube, borgqueen. Thanks for uploading it.

  • "Believe it or not It's just meeee"

This program was on TV at midnight of Sunday in 1981 or 2..

Maybe, the Japanese audience rating was low. But the classmate in my school had popularity. And everyone flew over the sky the next morning of broadcasting!!

  • wonderul pity i cant get the dvd in england because only available as ntsc and im lucky if my dvd player plays standard discs, thank you for posting this
