Never even knew this was made! The grpahics looks shit! Conrad looks to have been taken directly out of Flashback and the rest done seperately. In fact... Conrad's graphics look better than the rest! Dear me!
This looks shit compared to the original, Conrad does not seem to fit in, that was the beauty with the first one. Conrad seemed to fit in with every background, the first one is just legendary. Spent hours on that game, his movement was never beaten, the less said about Fade To Black the better
I recordet the game up to level 9 and upload it right now... but there is no exit in level 9.. So this means the game ends at level 9.. But on the other side you say all 16 levels are intact. What means you have played it through? But honestly.. how to exit level 9.. there must be a way to use cheats or whatever to continue to play
I suppose that depends on the keyboard - I think only some keys block each other out when pressed simulataniously. If that's the case, you could remap them just for skipping levels. Try some combinations, like only pressing START, SELECT and the triggers, until you find one that works. When I have a bit more time, I'll fire up the rom myself and let you know.
Okay, got it. Press START and move the cursor up, so you don't exit the menu. Then press L, R, SELECT and START again. Don't stop holding any of the buttons when you press the next one.
I tried it again with my wifes computer and a better keyboard and it worked. Its amazing to see that level 12 is a demo and the door switches for level 15 dont work and that level 16 is complete empty and you cant leave the first room right at the start. But it was a really cool time playing through. I saw someone could hack the rom to enable english captions except of french ones.
I meet the commando guy, he gives me a keycard. I then go to the door below him, I press the button and the menu comes up for me to select the keycard - only it's not visible. then the game freezes.
Hello! I think you have to select the card in your inventory, before you go to the door (the card will be visible then), and after that, you can open the door by using the card. Good luck!
i downloaded this today and it's actually very decent. conrad controls exactly the same as in flashback : qfi, and the movement / pace of the game is similar to the original. the graphics are cartoony and simplified, but remember this was being developed for a small screen.
i highly recommend playing before you judge if you're a fan of the original
You whiners are such fools. This is a BETA, it was never finished. Games often look like shit when the gameplay hasn't even been nailed down. It's clear that this whole thing is early stages.
Obviously fake. This is a straight rip-off of Conrad's sprite from the snes version (remember the pink shirt that was supposed to be white ?) thrown into some random game level.
can you tell me where to download this game? i´ve visited a couple of rom - sites and found one, but it doesn´t work, it´s just a black screen on the vba when i start... thanks for help
If they changed the stupid cartoony graphics to made the old style conrad model fit in and changed the gun sfx and music in general this game would actually look pretty apealing to me
I love flashback i wish this actually came out. Though it does look like they were trying to change the look a bit much, it still would have been fun I think
It looks fake.. Conrad moves just like he did in Flashback The Quest for Identity. Seems like someone just made the background, and put conrad in it. The first Flashback had such potential. The world that was created was a fine basic for much more!! Too bad,. id wish that a game-developer took the idea and made a project with Paul Cuisset. Just like we all want. Ive just finished Flashback on my DS with an SNES-Emulator. Still love it. One of my favourate games of all time.
Looks shit. Glad it never got made, why the fuck didnt they just do what everyone wanted them to do for all these years. MAKE A PROPER DECENT SEQUEL TO FLASHBACK AND ANOTHER WORLD, and for fucks sake involve eric chachi and paul cuissett hmmm...but whoops too late now huh. You know there was a time when delphine were the best game developers in the world. Shame they went and flushed it all down the toilet.
Background is too busy. Too bad the company went bankrupt. Kind of sad. You'd think they would be able to turn a profit from the Flashback and Fadeto Black, which were a success.
The art style is very strange. Conrad looks identical to how he did in Flashback, yet everything else is Saturday morning cartoon style :/ Conrad moves about too fast too, like they simply sped up his existing animations to make the game more action oriented.
I miss the late 80's-early 90's Cyberpunk phase, filled with the very timely male charactures and women with big hair. There's something about that, when combined with pixels, seems to epitomize the "cyber-" part of the whole subgenre.
While I won't declare 'Legends' to be trash, I will say that it isn't worthy to be an installment in the 'Flashback' franchise. Why is there background music playing throughout the level? We didn't have such nonsense in 'Quest for Identity'!
This looks shit compared to the original, Conrad does not seem to fit in, that was the beauty with the first one. Conrad seemed to fit in with every background, the first one is just legendary. Spent hours on that game, his movement was never beaten, the less said about Fade To Black the better!
this is actually an insult to the original flashback. I used to play it on the old sega megedrive and its such an addictive game. truely amazing for its time.
I never heard of this sequel. Actually, the Fade to Black game was shameful, to me. Even the CD version of Flashback. There is no other as the original 16 bit of Flashback... I found this demo interesting, but that's all. I think it killed the spirit and the great atmosfere of this game.
Ah flashback,I still have the cd version somewhere lol but I never knew about this one.Fade To black was my 2nd game for the PC in 95' and then some friend gave me the cd version of flashback too.Well this one looks nice. But the alpha version is far from complete. The enemies don't even attack you and the music is just...So annoying lol.I hope they will release something like that for the DS.
My god, I love Flashback! I had no idea this game existed until five minutes ago.
It looks like they used the same rotoscoping technique for Conrad from the original version. It makes him look out of place when compared to the rest of the games graphics.
mm, Played Flasback alot as a kid but never got past the final "atomic charge" part so I never saw the ending. Since then I´ve seen a version of it for the super nintendo, though the sounds and music was greatly inferior to the Amiga version. I would´nt mind a follow up, or even a remake for that matter.
Sixteen? Really? I thought the thing was only an engine demo. Can you proceed through and finish each level, or did you use a code of some kind? (I got to a dead end on the first level, although I might just be ignorant)
Interesting. While the prototype isn't very polished, its evident that the old Flashback mechanics still worked quite well on the GBA. It would have been great to see what this wound up like if it had reached a completed state.

If I remember correctly, you need to press all buttons at once. Let me know if it works.

Yeah, it looks much different than the old Flashback. This is a beta, though, so they could've improved a ton before releasing it(too late now).
I do like the music playing this, though.

It's actually more like Flashback than these videos suggest. I highly recommend downloading the rom and Visual Boy Advance to play it.
