Excellent video with close ups of the muscles in Robin Zander's neck and around his throat which just further demonstrates the power of his voice. Not many vocalists would have reached for that high note on the final chorus and if they did, few would have the ability to sustain it for as long as Zander does on this song. Very under rated vocalist who has maintained much of his ability to reach the notes even as he has gotten older.
Robin just KILLED on this version. Amazing. When he sings the last high chorus and hits the "Snap your fingers, and I'll come a'running..." that was just.... magic.
Outstanding live version from Hard Rock Acapulco '88, wow I'd love to have been there for that gig as it certainly has got great atmosphere listening and watching this vid. For me in '88 I was on my big O.E. (overseas experience) from little ol' New Zealand to the big U.K. I was 24. I'll never forget going to see Pink Floyd live at Wembly on August 6th '88. WOW what a show and I was straight and sober! I also saw The Screaming Blue Messiahs live at The Mean Fiddler in North Acton. Wow too!
Just when I thought there was no other way to say it, CT came out with this one. Saw them a couple times back in the 80's. Great live band. Just love Robin, he is so freakin adorable. Brings back memories maybe better left in the past.
Wonderful song! Wonderful singer! If its true he didn't like singing this song, he has fooled me. Alot of emotion is put in The Flame. Very special song.
Hands down without a doubt the BEST version of this CLASSIC ever. WOW!! Love the 'snap your fingers and I ......" wonder where that came from?? I have seen Robin says he sings this for the fans cause it was a number 1 hit for the band. Never saw him say he didnt like it or wouldnt play it. Check out the various videos of it on the net. It sure doesnt look like he dislikes playing it. He gives it his all every time.
I read an interview once that quoted the lead singer stating that this was his least favorite song and he often refused to play it live. Anybody else remember reading that?
