  • i love this song

  • I can tell I'm going to really get into this band! :D

  • Why couldn't I find this earlier? <3

  • great song from a great band

  • @biizzyy why? did they not play well live?

  • Comment removed

  • I am so glad to come across this music. Music in my era sucks.

  • @insanitykilljoy FUCK YES

  • Lol this is fucking gold

  • How come whenever i'm trying to listen to anything... Trophy scars, La Dispute, Bayside, Brand New, At the drive-in, mewithoutYou, Saves the day, whatever... everyone is arguing about "emo," and whose termononolgy of emo is correct.

I just discovered this band thanks to my uncle and I must say this song is solid.

Who gives a fuck if they're emo, who gives a fuck if they're not. Grow up and appreciate these guys spilling their souls.

  • @TrophyScarred yeah guys just enjoy the music fuck your opinion. Music isnt supposed to be critized,it's meant to move you!

  • @DarkosGirl5 *criticize

  • You must have ripped the track from the actual 7" split single. Mine skips in the middle too. Badass...

  • oh the memories of spinning this record as a senior in highschool.... dang life is better these days.

  • I've seen this band a couple times back in the 90's and kind of loved hated them at the time. This was one of my favorite songs they did I remember it being on a 7" comp with Christie front drive and thought I'd never hear it again...thank you!!!

  • Music is great but cant feel the singing.

  • this song speaks of the will?

  • Every time I hear this song It reminds me of growing up in Texas in the 90s for obvious reasons of course...

  • I love ♥

  • i fucking love this song

  • Comment removed

  • this is the true emo music, nothing to compare whit all the sitty-wannabe-bands that we have today..

  • @abestrue i hope someday everyone will be able to enjoy the music he likes, without feeling the urge to insult other genres, or bands... its just pointless.. its not like it makes your experience listening more enjoyable.

  • Well i dig Madball and i dig this

  • EMO IS A STATE OF MIND

and why don't we just call all of this emo?

  • @VirginMaryAxe It's not a state of mind. it is a sterotype. Depression is all but a mood some feel more then others. People who say "Yeah I'm an emo kid." Is nothing but a joke. 1 Why would you want to be known as 'emo' It's plain sad. 2 everyone who say songs like these are 'emo' songs need to stop judging lovable lyrics. it's a good song with good lyrics. It doesn't make it 'emo' if it is about love nor being left.

  • @AaronBit7 i have no memory of writing this :P

  • @VirginMaryAxe HAHA maybe you had a phase and forgot about it ;O

  • @AaronBit7 apparently :/

  • @AaronBit7

    Post-hardcore, Mid-west emo.

It's the genre, not just the lyrics :/

  • warzone rules so fuck you agricola

  • these guys are the coolest (:

  • this is a guilty pleasure for me. i'm a grunge fan but i enjoy this :)

  • I think I've just fallen in love with post hardcore.

  • @sharkbandana be prepared to get the shit knocked out of you when you hear what 'post-hardcore' today is. Now-a-days this is just considered emo.

  • Sounds like Sunny Day Real Estate. I like.

  • memories.

  • those are some nice poles.

  • The music is so good. Why doesn't the dude shut up and let the band play?

  • Such a great song. I really like this band. :)

  • I love this song. I was somewhere in elementary school when this was out.

  • my favorite band ever. if only i knew about them sooner

  • Who cares what genre this falls under...TITR are the most underated band ever. Beautiful and timeless music!

  • Took me bloody ages to find this song... I have both the LP and the 7" and every TITR kept rhapsodising about how good a song called "Blue Boy" was - now I see why.

  • One of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Different. I love it.

  • wow.... no balls?

  • im listening to titr because i like em, I aint the ones rguing bout shyyyt that dont fuckin exsist....like "emo" or "post hardcore"

  • this was called post hardcore in the 90s when this stuff was everywhere.......even back then people were split on this band...some worshipped at their altar, some (mainly the overcaffinated wifebeater-and-camo shorts wearing fuckbags that listened to shit like warzone or madball) hated them for being "pussy faggots"............i dident like them much back then but with age, ive come around to digging this shit alot.

  • @agricola Tottaly agree. I hated bands like this. Now I love them

  • @agricola What's wrong with Warzone and Madball?

  • @agricola the "overcaffinated wifebeater-and-camo shorts wearing fuckbags that listened to shit like warzone or madball" crowd is called "wiggercore"!

  • @AbridgedPause

...are you fucking retarded? i think you might be.

  • @agricola wifebeater??? go watch "to the threshold" clip by hatebreed, and if you say they are wifebeater, explain why they are about to beat the shit out the guy who beat his wife

  • @TheMetalheadfromhell a wifebeater refers to the type of white singlet - not necessarily that the person beats their wife (although that's how that type of singlet got its name)

  • @downundergroundman oh........ but you don't have to call them fuckbag

  • @TheMetalheadfromhell wifebeater=tanktop

  • @lostgeneration7 i know i know..... i almost learned english all by myself... give me a chance... -___-

  • actually emo doesnt exsist so all yall shut the fuck up cuz you all sound dumd as shit, theres only like 2 or 3 kinds of music....rap and rock aaaaaand I forget the other, but oh well those are the two good ones anyway

  • @samuelLjackson5 well arent you a veritable musical encyclopedia........

  • @samuelLjackson5

Okay, so why are you listening to Texas is the Reason? Stop being a douche.

  • @samuelLjackson5 Troll harder bro.

  • this isnt exactly emo.. its emo in the sense that its sad and emotional but this is like post emo indie.. still amazing band. so people who are saying this is real emo, yeah its alot more real than like mcr or afi but its still not the 80s shit that started the genre. but still i consider this emo just because its emoish lol. im rambling

  • @ixdor94 I would say Texas is The Reason and similar bands from the same time period, like Sunny Day, Get up Kids, etc. should be dubbed "proto-emo", since they were earlier than the short-lived "emo" movement and were significantly more complex musically and emotionally. As per the current meme, "'just sayin'".

  • @gavmazterj yeah i know. its pretty much emo its just not the emotive hardcore that started the genre. i consider it emo

  • @gavmazterj If you wanna call any band "proto-emo", I think it should be The Rites of Spring or Embrace.

  • @FS7able i think we should just call all these bands post-hardcore and emotional hardcore and let it rest

  • @yamon98 *Emotive Hardcore

  • I don't know what this is but it sounds good.

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI it's music

  • @GreasemonkeyCGI the lyrics are what you should appreciate about this song

  • I LOVE THIS SONG, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • Wow, 3 weeks ago my English still sucks (I still need Google Translate and a language course, oh yeah). I thought that guy was a scene trolling us. Epic fail. Well, I'm a teen that likes Real Emo too. And Real Emo (in 90's) was not just punk music, was and is Hardcore punk + Indie Rock. ._.

  • @LuisGuilhermePontes lol same name as me and same feeling for the same music

  • Not bad

  • well at least from a musical perspective. Emo fans back in the nineties didn't dress like weirdos or go on about cutting themselves which are my two main critiques of scene subculture

  • @alexmonro83 Yeah , man i like some sceney things too, and i agree about your two main critiques,

but i have to say 90's emo is really much better, I mean this i sgood musicand the lyrics are good, but scene music is usually catchy and that's it.

  • To be honest I like scene emo and 90s emo both equally

  • I diont know much of anything about emo music, but these guys are great.

  • @The9thstreet you don't need to because emo isn't a defined genre of music lol. This could fall under what "90's emo" was, but really there IS no really defined "emo" music genres. You can clearly see this is what in the 90's was considered post-hardcore/rock

  • From Wikipedia (legit..hahaha)....Texas Is the Reason was an American EMO band founded by former Shelter guitarist Norm Arenas and 108 drummer Chris Daly in 1994. They disbanded in 1997. They were highly influential to latter day emo bands such as Saves the Day.......then again..i could give a fuck what genre it is..who the fuck cares..either you like it...or you dont.

  • I think the terms "emo, "real emo", "mainstream emo" is all nonsense. How about just saying this is good music altogether. I am pretty picky with this stuff but this sounds pleasant, I would degrade it by giving it a label, just enjoy it. I'd call it rock if anything ;D

  • i live in texas

  • i really like the drums in the beginning

  • I'm emo..I'm Italian and I love emo music......

  • @boh829 sure u are emo?? emo IS A FUCKING MUSIC GENRE NOT A CLOTHING STYLE, noob

  • this is SOCAL surf/longboard music

  • @drpddak99 It is?

  • @drpddak99 i skateboard to this

  • eargasim, Anyone>?

  • ear and heart porn

  • what album is this song on????

  • makes me happy i was born in 92 so i could experience the good age as a young one

  • @peanutboy2pro I wish i was a teenager in the 90s but i too was born in 1992 D; lol

  • I used to listen to this in the day...ah memories

  • this is my favourite song to cry to. happy tears.

  • thanks for posting. i also have this split 7-inch record with the promise ring. my favorite tracks from both bands.

  • I went to one of the reunion shows in 2006, probably the best concert I've ever been to.

  • @KnivesBatsNewTats

well you my friend are a lucky bastard.

  • @karimMezghani your face is a disgrace to males verywhere

  • Comment removed

  • @KarimMezghani you sir are a disgrace to males everywhere.

  • @KarimMezghani I'm proud to be a disgrace to males everywhere, i'd rather show my feelings than be an emotionless, homophobic, sexist waste of space robot like you

  • @KarimMezghani your a fucking faggot pussy

  • @KarimMezghani Hey man when your expressing angry like you are now, that's an emotion so I guess your a fag too.

  • ive only just fond this band and i think there realy good wich is abit strange coz my favourite singer is lady gaga im ashamed XD

  • it skips at the beginning

  • great song.. i can't find it anywhere though

  • @xlolehpop i know

  • Emo is music with emotion in it, which is rare to find these days. This, is emo, in the true sense of it's meaning.

  • @North0house doesn't all music have emotion?

  • @LogSNES

Eh, I wish it did. Most of the mainstream stuff lacks emotion in my opinion.

All music used to have emotion, but now it seems that a lot of bands are only in it for the money, and don't put a ton of heart into it. There are certainly still musicians that put emotion in their songs though, for sure.

  • @North0house Not that I disagree w/ what you said, but any feeling expressed is still an emotion

  • @LogSNES I guess, but deep emotion is what counts, not half-baked emotion.

  • Emotion can be expressed in different ways and to different depths. Often today the "emotion" expressed sounds terribly impersonal and chicle. Much emotion in songs today is just about sex and anger. Regardless, people do feel and relate in different ways, but some indie bands/ college bands and some emo have a way of expressing emotion in a unique personal and deep way, a way much different than most bands do. Thus I find music like this more relateable and interesting.

  • @LogSNES

No. Listen to BrokeNCYDE. Case closed.

  • @LivesUnderABridge I guess I'll have to agree w/ you there lol.....but all I'm saying is that most music that isn't classified as "emo" still has emotion

  • @LivesUnderABridge When did BrokenCYDE become mainstream?

  • @unpoppablebubble After they become indolent pubescents who make shitty music. It could be the other way, too, though.

  • @unpoppablebubble who gives a fuck about mainstream they still suck

  • @robisgangsta1 lol true xD

I wasn't standing up for them, i just didn't think they were mainstream lol

  • @LogSNES LOL that the way it should be at least.

  • This song is great.I absolutely love it...the guitar...vocals...everything about it is just simply amazing.

The 90s were a time of great music.

I wish that flow of musical ingenuity could've lasted until my generation(and longer than that too)...but at least I can listen to the great treasures of the past.

  • im just 16, but damn this song, this band, is so great. now i know what true emo is.. can you give me some names of bands like this one? ty :)

  • @Fatkidsontheloose [Cap'n Jazz], The Promise Ring, The Get-Up Kids, Christie Front Drive, [Sunny Day Real Estate], American Football, [Beefeater], [Braid], [Drive Like Jehu], [Jawbreaker], Joan of Arc, Pop Unknown, [Rites of Spring]...

Hope that helped. They're some of my favorite original emo bands (Not the shitty emo you hear today). The one's in []'s are the ones I felt were more heavier like this song that you might like.

  • @CircusOfTheStars1 Awsome thanks. ive heard of some of these already acctually. ill check the rest out. :)

  • @CircusOfTheStars1 SDRE and Jawbreaker are not emo bands.

  • @MTVVH1sucks Sunny Day Real Estate is definitely an emo band; not sure about their later records, but Diary for sure is. And Jawbreaker's earlier stuff have emocore elements, but yes, they are more punk.

  • @CircusOfTheStars1 Do you have any mp3s of Joan of Arc and Rites of spring?

cant find any of it.or do you know any site where i can buy it? thanks! :)

  • Classic emo.

  • old school is always better

  • damn.

    what an awesome song

  • save for a few exception

    modern emo kinda sucks

    old school stuff it better

  • @Every1Rocks555 modern emo doesnt exist, this is the only emo, othr shiet is called scene...

  • What a crying shame that this is no longer what people thing of when they think emo. God damn it, why the hell wasn't I born just a few years earlier?

  • This is real good. Its too bad, now the labels "hardcore" and "emo" have turned into something so shitty and generic

  • WIKIPEDIA - the most hilarious thing ever =)

Love the song and band by the way =)

Gerard Way, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, stated in an interview "emo is a pile of shit", and that his "band was never emo". Panic! at the Disco also stated in an interview with NME: "emo is bullshit."

These two bands, however, tend to be classified as emo.

  • ehhh what

  • damn...this is emo to some people...they'd shoot themselves...i think this is faaaaaaaar from emo...more like alternative...it's some great music

  • This is actual emo music. The shit that you think of as "emo" is shitty pop music for faggot teens that wouldn't know sincere music if it raped them in the ear.

  • @wrarmatei I know. It pisses me off that the term emo is just thrown around every day at school by people who know nothing of what they're talking about. If I ask anybody at my school what pops up when they think of emo, they'll say something like "Fall out Boy" or "Brokencyde" or some stupid shit like that. If they asked ME what pops up if they say emo, I'd say "Sunny Day Real Estate, I Hate Myself" etc. Why the fuck did emo kids have to bastardize such a good genre of music?

  • @wrarmatei

    Damn straight motherfucker!!

  • @supershqipa <3

    lol

  • @wrarmatei examples of emo bands: texas is the reason saosin rites of spring mineral jawbreaker sunny day real estate hawthorne heights rise against crush 40 the summer set black veil brides flyleaf some of the best bands ever VS examples of fakemo bands: fall out boy my chemical romance dashboard confessional get up kids plain white ts lmfao if a band is mainstream, it cant be emo. for all the posers who want to argue with me look up its history and see their not emo
  • @nshill96 hawthorne heights and black veil brides suck! there mainstream trendy fucks. those other bands u mentioned where good though.

  • @robisgangsta1 haha ok. i wasnt trying to be an asshole i was just bored.

  • @nshill96 jawbreaker and SDRE are not emo or rise against.

  • @nshill96 ummm.. The get up kids are awesome... dont even put them on those category.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrpogi23 i put them there by accident. i didnt even realize that until you replied to my comment. ill make sure i fix it

  • @nshill96 sorry i didnt mean to put get up kids on the fakemo side

  • @nshill96 the get up kids should never be put in the "fakemo" category. especially if your saying that hawthorne heights is even slightly good, which they aren't.

  • @kimbeepoop you probably didnt see it, but i had another comment about that i accidently put them there and i wouldve fixed it if i could

  • @kimbeepoop TGUK FTW lol

  • @wrarmatei i know how the hell did dashboard get labeled emo

  • @wrarmatei Agreed my friend. But I have also thought of them, as well as Sunny Day, Shudder, Sense Field, and others were all Indie Bands as well. The shit out now is just awful. Actually, for at least 15 years the mainstream music is fucking ridiculous. I miss this group.

  • @wrarmatei Every fucking youtube video i go to some pretentious asshole like you has to state the obvious. I AM not saying you are wrong, I am saying you are a dumb piece of shit for being one of those obscure hipster fucks who clarifies pointless shit every time these topics are brought up. Fuck you, you don't even know what music is or what it is meant to stand for. Genre labels are as worthless as assholes like you who abide to them like they are law.

  • @paniccat

Look at you, using the ultimate hipster diss: pretentious.

Did you beat your dog after making that post?

Genrification, alone, isn't much of an issue, but when it leads to the mainstream representations deviating from all of MY favorite elements of that music, then I take issue. I personally, would like it if I heard stuff like SDRE or CapnJazz on the radio instead of vapid interpretations that are only connected to whatever band because the singer said that they were an influence.

  • @wrarmatei You just put the word pretentious into a genre, that being hipster. Fuck you. You are just trying to start a double sided internet arguement where both of us think we are winning. I actually had a point and your only purpose of commenting back was to disprove the point I made. You are a generic youtube elitist.

  • @paniccat

For a troll, you sure type a lot.

  • @wrarmatei I'm also a teen but i'm one of the few that know what '' real emo'' is.

    scene music can never compare to this (;

  • @djangobaby

Nice. Emo was just a response to the vapidness of a lot of punk music. The distinct sound of a lot of the early nineties bands is misleading, imo. If you look at a band like Rites of Spring, they are still considered "emo", but they have a distinct punk sound. It all started with replacing the brutishness found in a lot of punk with introspection etc. It is kind of interesting how a specific emo sound started to develop: trying to think of an answer is food for thought for sure imo.

  • @wrarmatei i totally agree dude, this is real emo. but theres still some pretty good emo music alive today, just not the crap thats all whiny and poppy.

  • @LProck4everGD1 Yea, My Chemical Romance isn shit. Ok ok, TITR > MCR, bu c'mon ppl... I like Saosin & Dashboard Confessional too. Not necessarily "emo" is bad, this is just an idiot tag.

@djangobaby, ppl like you show how scene people EVER can be cocky, shallow, alienated, futile, empty and egocentric. Simply get a life, brat. Cause of you, I seem such poser ppl being as myself with my fringe which I use since 2000, prejudice facing all these years, now to be a "crappy fadder". You sucks!

  • @LuisGuilhermePontes yeah i agree, i dont really listen to my chemical romance though, but thats ok. i do like saosin and dashboard confessional as well as a bunch of other similar bands, i think of emo as a genre of music, in stead of a stereotypical label.

  • @LProck4everGD1 Yeah, I agree with the Emo genre, I love the Emo genre (Screamo and early Post-hardcore too), but "emo" is a name for the Fake Emo tagged bands [and people] (well, MCR and others aren't self-tagged as Emo, so Fake is an improper term). MCR, DBC and Saosin aren't Real Emo bands, but they not sucks, that's what I meant.

  • @LProck4everGD1 There's newer stuff, like Mineral, but all that I can really find is European Emotive Hardcore or whatever it is being called now. Not a bad thing though. I like La Quiete, Kaospilot, Apoplexy Twist Orchestra and so on. Good bands. If you got some bands to suggest, feel free, sir :3

  • @wrarmatei hah ok ill mention some if i think of any

  • Comment removed

  • such a beautiful song <3!!

  • This band reminds me alot of Sunny Day Real Estate.

  • I agree.

  • @laceykastern it's listed in related artists on last fm, that's why I'm watching this video now xD

  • This is a great song. It's not on their EP or their full length. What release is this recording on?

  • it's on a split they did with the promise ring.
