Dude.. I'm not sure if you're being serious or just incredibly musically retarded, but most bass drum beaters on the market are reversible (and some 4 sided). That means you can play with the padded side (for a smoother warmer sound) or the hard rounded nylon side (for a sharper louder attack.. ie. for METAL).
agree... they give you a different sound depending on the materials and stuff, but it depends on your taste. i used to have a 3way beaters that came with a mapex double pedal.. felt, wood and plastic.
