  • Thank you Vanilla Sky.

  • If there were to ever to one day be a person who sacrificed years of their life, their family, their ideals and the lives of many others around them to get humanity to reach the stars this song would so totally be playing in their minds. I've yet to find a song which captivates both the dreamily surreal and sublime and the very down-to-earth notions of sadness and regret in such a brilliant manner.

  • Waltzing slowly in the ballroom of a sinking ship

  • 25,000,000 stars if you listened 90 times to acid and spiritualized it up high for decades

  • Thank you, finally this song not in 240p.

  • This must be what dreams are made of.

  • my favorite song from vanilla sky its a beautiful song :)

  • i love the way this song makes me feel,

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • Vanilla Sky :)

  • why wasnt this blocked by Sony music? i uploaded a video with this song in the background and they blocked it like 5 minutes later :(

  • awesome song! x

  • This song should be considered obligatory wedding music. The melody mirrors Canon in D by Pachelbel if the lyrics aren't reason enough.

  • The vocals sound kind of like Pains of Being pure at heart.

  • @ymechaie i'm sure spiritualized influenced pains of being pure at heart in some way.

  • This scene from Vanilla Sky will stick with me, always. ♥❤♥ So heartbreakingly beautiful.

Definitely one of my personal most-favorite & most memorable film scenes of all time.

  • Same here. It was weird. It kinda broadened my imagination. lol. This movie has like the weirdest effect on me.

  • This song is part of the best movie soundtrack ever from my favorite movie Vanilla Sky!! :) Great song. There isn't a bad song on that soundtrack.

  • @spartyfan247 i heard this song for the first time when i watched that film, that ending scene, and this song had quite a profound effect on me, was on my mind for weeks afterwards, i even googled cryonics lol, i might stick it on now :)

  • @catcherinthesky1 Same here. It was weird. It kinda broadened my imagination. lol. This movie has like the weirdest effect on me.

  • My life just got a million times fucking better

  • vanilla sky!

  • I made a list of my most played songs and I am writing a little bit about them for a blog. I am not really a great writer, but with most songs I have been able to have enough to write about them. When it came to this song, I just couldn't find words to come close to doing the songs beauty and abiity to evoke feelings like a drug justice. Amazing. This isnt a post to get you to read my ramblings, I just needed to say that about the song, but if you are interested click my name. Love.

  • All I ever wanted in life's a little bit of dope to take the pain away.

Getting strong today, a giant step each day.

  • Apparently, my mum thinks this song has a "Christmasy Vibe" to it. Anyone else agree? Nah, me neither.

  • @22YearOldBoy well it does contain the good king wenceslas melody almost verbatim

  • Thumbs up if Vanilla sky sent you here

  • OMG, i have exam tomorrow yet my mind is full of this song..

  • it just is

  • Wow... and suddenly it's 4:00am. And from this I must conclude that "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" is very much like certain drugs.

  • All I want in life's a little bit of love

    To take the pain away

    Getting strong today

    A giant step each day

  • Like if you don't need drugs to see that this song is Jesus in the music world...

  • @Dannyrocksass Bwahahaha xD

  • This shrill noise has scratched my brain.

  • i mean spectrum is a better band but this song man, this fucking song

  • Powerful song. Simply classic.

  • Heroin

  • All hail "Jason Spaceman"

  • Comment removed

  • What they should have played tonight

  • We'll float in space ..it's beautiful...es preciosa.

  • Lol vanilla ice.

  • This tune takes me back to crashing out on a friend's couch (sofa, settee, whatever) after a hard days drinking using an empty lager can as an ashtray. VERY relaxing and NO hangover in the morning!

  • @minored360 obviously you do and i assume you heard the song when you saw the movie, it's okay and i'm sorry if i got sand in your vagina

  • one of the best songs ever written, just beautiful.

  • Vanilla Sky has the best soundtrack ever...so atmospheric.

  • this song + Vanilla Sky = match made in heaven

  • 3 persons couldn't float in space with music

  • :' )

  • 5 stars if you ate acid and listened to this in the 90s

  • @TommyAppleseedS i know what you mean, mate.

  • @TommyAppleseedS oh man i wish i wasnt 5 during the 90s and i would

  • @mrkjamlin You would've been too young at 5. I'm not gonna do the math because I'm feeling old all of the sudden, but I would guess you are of prime partying age right about now..

  • You were 5 for 10 years! you were the same age for a whole decade! HOLY SHAAAT!

  • @yomama12password yep :)

  • ¡Magnifico!

  • @chomondleywarner To see if i would appreciate it more now i am older with somewhat more sophisticated tastes

  • Vanilla has such a great soundtrack. Great taste. This is an amazing song and an amazing album.

  • This album was a huge disappointment for me when i was 14. I'm still not enamoured...like a proto-Snow Patrol

  • @pfive Well if this song was a huge disappointment for you, you are a huge disappointment to the world.

  • @StrangerToEarth lol, it's just a bit rubbish. I think i was expecting it to compare with OK Computer. Cop Shoot Cop is still a good song though

  • @pfive Not his best album, if I'm fair. Listen to Do It All OVer Again and that will cure any disappointment.

  • @StrangerToEarth Or he just doesn't like it. What a horridly smug comment.

  • @Aniland

So you think taste is subjective, right? You think that people who appreciate eclectic music are snobs, self-elected music police? You think that if someone likes Selena Gomez as much as I like Spiritualized, they have just as much taste because of the fact they enjoy ANY music intensely? You think that music is just a matter of taste?

Wrong. Music is a skill. Music is a craft. Music is a religion. Music is a complex, visceral pleasure, like sex, and you can be bad at it.

  • @StrangerToEarth Life is too short for me to want to talk to you.

  • @Aniland ie I'm right, and your musical aesthetic isn't the only thing suffering.

    :)

  • @StrangerToEarth and how can you measure a musician's skill?

  • @AndrehFelipe By whether they can make music that appeals on both a sensual, emotional level - where you feel both your mood and your body affected by what you've just listened to, making you want to dance or cry or smile or run or fuck - but also an intellectual level, where you can relish the balance between the rhythm, the melody, the lyrics and the vocals and their sublime harmony. Whether they can make at least one song that makes you feel something you don't understand, don't want to.

  • @StrangerToEarth

    "Wrong"

How do we objectively measure music then? How do we define taste? Do we define taste by the amount of utility that it produces? How do you explain two people experiencing the same action yet getting different amounts of utility? How do you measure utility?

  • @DerrEinzige Your baffling use of the word 'utility' might explain your German-sounding username, but setting that aside, there are universal standards for sounds which are good and bad - rainfall is good and fingernails scraping chalkboard is always bad - so I think that proves that our sense of sound is sensitive enough to make music subject to some universality. People who are expert at music - who have critical appreciation - always agree on what music is bad, and often on what is good.

  • @StrangerToEarth

" Your baffling use of the word 'utility' "

    Haha, what?

First off, tendencies =/= universal. For example rainfall is most certainly not a universal sound that is liked by all, I for one don't care for it. Experts have opinions, whether music is good or not is subjective. Take your favorite modern music, go back in time and play it for a so called "expert" and see if they like it as much as you do. You also have yet to answer my previous questions.

  • I saw this group at the Paradise on Comm av in Boston in 1995. I only showed up originally to see Polara. A psyshadelic, guitar rock Minneapolis band that was opening. Polaras set finished and roadies began to set Spir'ized up. I had planned to leave at that point but I saw the fog machine, the lasers, the projector, the saxophone!! A real music lover could never leave then. I was too curious to see this act and WOW! That was the best club show that I have seen to date.

  • @marcusup23

Yeah. I saw them on their Roller Coaster Tour at GWU. Sorry it was in such a "strict" environment but still a great ride. Hoped to see them play the 9:30 in DC.

    Dang!

  • I guarantee you without doubt I was one of the first to hear this track in the UK on the BBC John Peel show.......I even have the recording on old cassette tape and it sounds different too. I simply have the original and it sounds better....soz

  • is there any way I can hear it.

  • This song is absolutely incredible. Although, it is extremely depressing but it adds a great feel to it. I've been singing this song in school for 3 days straight now, its constantly in my head. Amazing!

  • @Alwaystuned. here's one from Ashcroft's wife, Kate Radley.

  • Only fools rush in...

  • after all those years still my fav song

  • Single best song in modern music

  • 2 people don't know what it feels to love

  • @bendrinkin19

I don't love man, and this song still breaks me down.

Those two don't have souls. This goes beyond love or not, they aren't human.

They're reptilian monsters, feasting on the flesh of men to take their form another day.

    Obviously.

  • I have no idea what Vanilla Sky is

  • @frankisrad777 its a movie that used this song as the main character realised all along he was living a dream... Watch it, it'll leave you in tears!

  • @lickchick14 I WATCHED IT AND IT WAS RAD reminded me of eyes wide shut

  • @frankisrad777 yeahh its amaing

  • @frankisrad777 wait did u go and see it after seeing my comment?

  • @lickchick14 Nope right after I posted that comment I on demanded it

  • @lickchick14 shhh don't spoil it for people who havn't seen it

  • Amazing!!! Amazing!!! A few friends and I were just talking about Vanilla Sky the other day and I just so happened to stroll across it this evening while channel surfing. This song was something I used to listen to in High School and hearing it again tonight did nothing but bring smiles to my face : ) It just gives me a feeling inside like nothing else!

  • Whoever disliked this needs a good punch in the nuts!

  • Aw. Brings back QAF fanvid memories.

  • shit, I actually did just miss the like butten! D:

  • One person needs a soul transplant!

  • i have never seen vanilla sky but i have seen a very awesome skate video called modus operandi which im sure is infinitely better than vanilla sky. the song is played during the "almosts/falls" section. one of my favorite skate vids ever

  • songs like this make me think a lot about life, about people ive met. we all have to face our "inner demons" or else there will always be these things we hate about ourselves reflected by those around us. the alternative is supression and denial. we cant handle the fact that there are things we hate about ourselves, so we project our inner frustrations onto others. i have seen it personally and so overtly blatantly that it is almost laughable. but as ironic as it is, at the same time its tragic.

  • thumbs up if Modus brought you here !

  • LOL, this song was brought to me by a 411 skate video!!

  • Transworld's "Modus Operandi" (the falls section) brought me here.

I don't know if Transworld still makes films, but they were putting together some of the greatest skate footage when I was 18.

  • the intertwining of vocals is awesome

  • i am proud to say i didn't hear this song thru vanilla ice or sky or whatever the fuck. nobody told me to hear this song, i actually checked it out cause i liked the name spiritualized and the the song title is so intriguing and promising

  • @darksider7140

i just bought the vinyl from this record, not having the best moments in my life right now but i truly think this music can comfort people all over the world.

  • @dinasouradventure3d so true, i love music and believe it can comfort people, some people like watching movies or like reading books to kill the time. i have a lame ass sister in law that loves movies but they are not the same as songs or albums. with music u can hum the tune or sing the lyrics when no one is looking or whatever. a book or movie is only so good, you cannot carry it with you like you can carry a song you love, and its so cool you got the album on vinyl.

  • @darksider7140 I rarely check my yutube account, but thanks for replying to my comment, usually people on youtube just do it to give crap or trash comments from people who actually love music.

  • @dinasouradventure3d i used to be the one talking smack but then i realized i can do more good than bad and so i do now. i like youtube to see what others have to say about their love for music

  • @darksider7140

    dude...... who cares ?

  • @darksider7140 Sure dude...

  • @niloc87 i am guessing you heard it from the movie as well... it's okay, i understand that some people are just kinda slow when it comes to good music... slow is also another word for retarded LOL

  • @darksider7140 alright reynolds mcHipster...

  • @darksider7140 oh boy, are you cool.

  • @zombieferoxmovie thanks:)

  • @darksider7140 I was being sarcastic.

  • Good night,,,

  • yes Vanilla sky Brought me up here !! :)

  • I love this song..I picked it for my friends first waltz as a married couple. I don't suggest listening to it though if you're drunk and crushing:)

  • Vanilla Sky... the best movie of all time.

  • 5 stars if vanilla sky brought you here!!!!

  • @MrMotocross675 right here

  • @MrMotocross675 it sure did!!!

  • @MrMotocross675 It was my father's musical knowledge what brought me here

  • @MrMotocross675 that film sucks!

  • @MrMotocross675 :D !

  • @MrMotocross675 Greatest movie ever! Open your eyes! Gahh what a fucked up long ass dream haha

  • @bendrinkin19 Precisely

  • @MrMotocross675 I'll see you in another life, when we are both cats!

  • @MrMotocross675 Abslolutely^^

  • @MrMotocross675 the most unrated movie ever

  • @MrMotocross675

haha vanilla sky is exactly why i am here!

  • This song makes me feel like im floating in space...

  • If you listen closely an about 2.27 he changes the word "love" to dope two times in the line "all i want in lifes a little bit of love to take the pain away".

  • best album ever made

  • This song makes me so, so happy.

  • anyone else first hear this in Transworld skateboarding: modus operandi?

  • @texaswhatitdo Yes! Today I was doing homework in a coffee shop and this came on. This song has so many memories attached to it through Modus Operandi and skateboarding. I honestly don't think i'd remember living if it wasn't for music. No clue what the song was called, but i remembered it being in the Transword vid.

  • @Johanthegnarler ha i remember looking the song up during the credits then downloading it on napster. this was in 1999. everyone else knows it from vanilla sky.

  • @Johanthegnarler Out of interest.. what Transworld video was it in?

  • @dom252 Modus Operandi, during a montage. Going off of memory though.. i used to watch skate videos religiously.

  • @Johanthegnarler

Hell yeah man! I couldn't get enough Transworld.

I also like another one... "purpose" or "meaning of life".. or something like that.

  • @dom252 modus operandi fuck you atiba you are suck a genius

  • @texaswhatitdo lol yes sir! good times

  • The cd packaging was a giant pill foil packet, the cd being the pill under the foil while the inlay was in the form of precription insttuctions, same paper, font and folding.

I think I listened to it 3 times a day and vowed never to try smack :-)

  • I was pissed that this was not in the Vanilla Sky soundtrack!

  • @Steanu

Thats the reason it took me so damn long to find it LOL!!!! I listened to every track on the damn soundtrack and none sounded like it. Couldn't believes that the would leave off the best track.

  • @Steanu Mee too.

The soundtrack is great, anyway. However, when I noticed this track along with "Njosnavlin" by Sigur Ros and "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys didn't appear in the album I just thought:"Where the fuck are the tracks?"

This song could be the greates one ever.

  • this song is amazing

  • Prefer this version to the "Falling in Love with you" ending. Great song. Works so well in Vanilla Sky. Thanks for posting!

  • I CAN'T STOP LISTENING. This has been out for over a decade and I'm finding out about it now. I'm mental.

  • @hitdevil long live pitchfork

  • @kadgi nooooo my comment was posted before their list was posted! I swear! Long live Sirius XMU.

  • Sounds like heaven

  • I'm having this song played at my wedding. It embodies beauty <3

  • I really feel like I'm floating in space when I listen to this - I get swept up in all the different layers. So evocative.

  • Comment removed

  • This is probably one of the prettiest songs every written

  • Took me to another dimension.....

  • The lesson of this album is

Don't do drugs. Instead, let others do drugs for you :3

  • euphoric, magical, greatness.

  • genius, well ahead of its time..!!
