I remember when it was new only maybe was built around 1987-88 so not really that old saw a lot Heat games there and Panthers game what a home ice advantage, the new AAA is only a few blocks away within walking distance I would not recommend it
I remembered when my dad and I went to the arena and saw our first WWF House Show during the Attitude Era 1999. Semi-Main Event was Mankind vs. British Bulldog, in which Mankind won. Main Event was The Rock vs. Triple H w/Chyna for the title. Rock won by DQ and after the match, he sang his "Smackdown Hotel" song. Not to mention, my first ever wrestling PPV on tv was Royal Rumble 1991, held at the same arena 8 years ago when I was 4 and still living in Florida. Good times. Great memories.
What a nice shot... its too bad they had to go and tear down the arena it could have been used for other uses. So long Miami arena you left good and bad memories!
Its to bad, I always enjoyed Miami Arena. Too bad it was built at the wrong time, just when the club seat fad was coming in, Miami Arena had non, this lead to it only having a major teams for 10 years.. so short of a time. The econmic changes in sports really hurt this nicely built arena.. hopefully future arenas can learn to build for the future and not leave everyone with left over debt from an arena no longer there.
not a waste at all, the land will be used for residential development, adding to the city's already ENOURMOUS building boom ranking 1st in the nation and 2nd worldwide. Expected to overtake Dubai soon.
what a waste. this building was only 18 years old. the charlotte coliseum was older than this. it still had plenty of time as an arena before obscelescence, didn't it?
Actually, not really. The Heat left two months into its 12th season, in January 2000. The Panthers were there 1993-98. Then, the University of Miami men's basketball team left there at the start of the 2002-03 or 2003-04 season.

The thing is though...The so-called "downtown" Miami is filled with unfinished skyscrapers, and skyscrapers with a ton of unsold units in them.

What a waste, only 20 years old... gotta admit though it was a pretty ugly construction.

The best period of my life occured in that building, between April and June of 1996.
God I'll miss that place. I still dream of those wild games and the sea of rats.
