You're completely ignorant of the music business. Like everyone else, you don't seem to understand that the vast majority of musicians simply don't get paid that well.

Album sales are down 25% in the past 2 years. Live shows never really pay decently at all, not with venues charging increasing fees for use so that they can pay off insurance brokers.

If you think musicians make tons of cash, think again. Online thievery has forced many to give up recording entirely.

Recorded music is not public domain, is NOT FREE, and has to be paid for like everything else. I know of several very talented musicians who had to give up because they couldn't get any pay for their hard work.
