FYI I got a Chinese brush painting set at joanns and it comes with 3 brushes and 6 tubes Chinese watercolor and an instruction book. Thought I would let you know
Look around/call art stores- I found mine at a local art store and most art stores carry it (Not sure if there's a Dick Blicks or a Utrecht in you're area, but they both carry the materials needed :] )
I tried that before, western watercolors is lacking of transparency on the rice paper comparing to the Chinese watercolors, it wouldn't look as good if you use western watercolors on Chinese style paintings~
i just got a chinese brush painting kit your videos were very helpful :)

Wow! Great tutorial! 5 stars. One question : can you use Western watercolors for coloring chinese brush paintings? Or colored ink?

Do you ever actually go through the paper? That would be frustrating to be almost finished the painting and get a tear in the paper.

Yes, I will fix it with mounting. BTW, dry mounting make it very easy.

Do you ever use both brushes at the same time? Like stick the harder one within the softer one? I wonder how that would look.
OckGal 4 years ago
Yes, go to webshot and search under blueheronarts. Hope you will find it.
