I have this song on Kenny's wonderful album of the same name and always assumed it was about a former lover. Knowing it is about his dad makes it much more poignant. One can see in his face at the end of the song that it is not only his mom who is finding that everything's not fine. Very moving.
I had the good luck to see Kenny in Birkenhead yesterday. We too were given the full version of this lovely song. I was very moved by his whole programme, and wished it had been longer. In fact, I'd travel quite a distance to catch him 'live'.
Thank you, Kenny, for starting a great evening with such a piano and voicebox full of surprises. I wandered away from the 'interesting' venue - in spite of the night - warmed and replenished and consoled.
This one "solid" human being. Long may you run, KW.

What a shame the right channel isn't working.

Beautiful! We very much enjoyed Kenny White's performance at Easton PA's State Theatre last Friday.
