I doubt this was meant to be a permanent group. It was merely this single. It's the super group of H!P; four of the biggest stars of H!P. The three most popular soloists and Rika, who was immensely popular and was leader of her own group. It wasn't meant to be a permanent thing at all.

And Rika's never been chosen for anything based solely on her looks; she got into her groups because she deserves it. There's a clip out there where Goto and Aya say Rika was what kept the group together.

I love this song and all four girls, but I must say that this was back in the time where Rika wasn't exactly vocally talented...

She HAS improved quite a bit lately, though. Hangry&Angry she sounds great and also in later Biyuuden stuff like Koisuru Angel Heart. But she definitely doesn't fit in with the group here. xD;; It's like 3 aces and then Rika. Should have been another strong vocal.

I don't know why this comment is negative, it's true! Rika is popular, and I do like her sometimes, but she is definitely the weakest vocalist here, and probably the weakest MM has ever had.

She is a great dancer though.

I don't know about the weakest in MM, but certainly the weakest in this unit.

Rika has improved a lot. Her voice is generally accurate at reaching notes, it's just the color of her voice that isn't "good." I find her voice pretty fascinating to listen to, and it is a very distinctive voice, haha. You know it is Charmy the moment you hear it.

Her voice has no power whatsoever, and the things I've heard more recently, from V-u-den, this, Hangry & Angry haven't changed my mind.  Just because it's distinct doesn't make it good(I've never liked that argument), everyone in MM had/has a distinct voice. And yes, the ones you mentioned are weak vocally too, and Rika is right down at the bottom with them. Which is why none of them ever got/get any lines really haha, besides KonKon for some reason(she seemed to get quite a bit of lines).

listen to SHABONDAMA. her voice has a hell of lot of power/anger in this song. she's no way at the bottom. she's gotten a lot of solo lines in momusu because vocally her voice is on point. she's in no way a weak singer. but everyone has their own opinions. lol yes asami got quite a bit, but she's come a long way with her vocals.

I've heard Shabondama, and besides her talking part, she only has one solo line in the whole song. It was just okay though. The way the song is sang by everyone using deeper voices makes it sound more powerful, but that's just an illusion of power, it doesn't mean she really is.

And no, she hasn't gotten a lot of solo lines though. She probably got like 1-2 tops in most songs(right on par with everyone, besides leads). I really can't think of any where she got a good number of solo lines.

The reason that Rika might have the power backing her voice is because she has very low lung capacity (2300 whereas most humans have 3000) and asthma. However, while she has a weaker voice, she really can sing well. Listen to her solo performance of this, or her solo of 100Kai no Kiss. She's not a bad singer at all, and has improved so much over the years.
