I'm Pentecostal Holiness, and I love this type of music. I play music at my church and its great. But us white folks just can't sing and play like this. A lot of people say I have soul. Maybe because when I play, I just try to play from my heart. This is just some sweet music.
My God my God Today!!!!! Make it talk, call the fire department and tell them to bring everything to put the fire out after that solo..........Lol Thx for posting this it blessed my heart......

Is anyone on here familiar with Michael Lavias Williams? He's an organist/vocalist from Jamaica, Queens who's style is so uniqely versitile and sometimes very reminiscent of Nicks. Lavias can go from baptist to COGIC Pentecostal in the blink of any eye and with master precision. Anyone who's ever heard him play and sing knows he's annointed and can definitely atest to what I'm saying.
Yes, I am familiar with Michael Lavias williams. He's a very talented and blessed indiviual. I agree 100% with you, he has a divine annointing on him! I know him to be one of God's definite chosen ones!
Nix could really make that Hammond talk. He's def my idol and who I try to play like. Today to many organist try to do too much and end up messing beautiful songs up. I thank God for Rev Nix and the blessings that we recieved through his recordings.
This is the method of playing by which I love to sing "Father, I Stretch My Hands To Thee" to.... Now in a real ol' school Baptist Church.... you can go slap in off this.....
Christian or not.. Musicians is what the world lacks now.. Not enough Hammond Organ and talent and to much computer generated pop.. Suberb work Rev.. May u rest in peace.. and dare I say it,, may the good lord shine upon u ;-)
My good friend on here, Bro. Rollins of Rev. Dewey Smith's church told me he bought a lot of Rev. Nix single songs on Amazon. com -I just checked it out and nothing popped up so I will get back with him on that. thx
Listening to this reminds me of when I used to listen on Sunday evenings to Gospel music from St. John Missionary Baptist Church on the radio while Grandma read her Bible. "Ma" has since passed on but this audio really reached inside of me and pierced my soul thinking about her. Thank you Brother!!
@godschild1991ful My talking chief title from the samoan Islands comes from an uncle of mines who would be the equivelant of a witch doctor. Voodoo was somthing that cames to mind as a youtube name. It's just a name....lol I am a son of a minister.
Tell them again Mr Bufford. This is the roots, the base, taking it back to the old times. Young people can't forget the basis of what gospel music is. There is an interesting story about the history of the song Amazing Grace, do some research and find out about it. It will bring u a whole new meaning to what Amazing Grace is all about.
I go to many shed sessions and these cats have thousands of runs a sick chords......oh but when it comes time to play the morning hymn, they are looking really crazy. Let's not talk about basic testimony service....Got many riffs in Have you tried Jesus, until you don't know hwat it is.....
Boy, boy, boy, y'all young musicians don't get it! This IS real gospel music in its place without the 100 jazz riffs and chords that y'all consider one can play or not. There's a time for all styles and y'all need to learn 'when and where' of it. -and its good money in it too' wake up y'all and learn these hymns and how to play them the right way -with God's anointing!
I asked Pastor An.Woods and others 'who has those old cass. tapes of him playing for reg. services? Any old St. James members out there who has some good old tapes of those great services please can I get some copies!!! lol'
I loved 'me some' good old Charles Nix organ playing! I much rather hold one note down and it be anointed of God then know all the jazz riffs and chords and people get nothing out but a 'he sounds good' but feel nothing on the inside! -now that takes some praying time!
Dr. Charles Nicks was a beast on the organ. One of Detroit's finest, you should check Dr. Edgar Vann at Second Ebenezer Baptist Church in Detroit if he's still playing these days.
it's amazing!!
