  • hey nice vid but woude have been nice to seen how you took it apart as well

  • @incl2010 sorry, i have no disassembling vid from the stock cooler

  • it looked like some chips at 4:28 didnt get anything put on them to cool them off,the plate went around them, are those chips in danger of overheating and damage?i saw different vid for the 480 and the guy put small heatsinks on all the chips,is that a safer way to do the 285? luv this video, thanks for doing it?and thanks in advance if u reply.

  • @OO7angelo i hope we mean the same chips: the chips are cooled by a aluminiumplate which is fixed with pads. in the beginning of the next step you can see it, before i lay the card on the cooler.

  • very nice vid, rly like the way u have put the camera : )

  • do all those little memory healsinds and back plate come with the kit too?

  • @shizzel122 yes, that is all in the package

  • Thank you

  • @Cassandre1986 it is my pleasure if i could help

  • Does this give you instructions on how to do this?

  • @TearsOfWar1 the cooler has a instruction in his package

  • What the temp befor and after

  • @davidkerr7 reference cooler at 100% (3120rpm) and 30°C ambient: 71,7°C

    Arctic cooling at 100% (2040rpm) and 30°C ambient: 56.5°C

  • is this cooler compatible with the redeon 4890 (xfx)

  • @davidkerr7 please check the website of Arctic Cooling. they have a own version for AMD. this one is only for nVidia

  • And oh, another question, I have the Gtx 260 but it's not the Core 216, will it still mount on that card? The arctic cooling site says the cooler works for (and I quote):

    Application:

    nVIDIA GeForce GTX 260/216

But it should still work on the normal GTX260 right? o.O

  • @Luthicwoot if AC says that it works i have no reason to say anything else

  • @3fferman

Thanks for the quick answers mate! It's a buy then. :)

  • @Luthicwoot it is my pleasure if i could help

  • This is a great video, just what I was looking for. I'm going to be buying this cooler soon and while I doubt I'd have much problems following the instructions, it's always nice to have a video as backup. :)

About the last part, like PCGamer333, I'm just worried it would fall off since it's only glued, but you haven't had any problems with it yet have you (it's still stuck on the back of the card?)?. :)

  • @Luthicwoot forget the aluminium backplate. the risk of shortcuts is more trouble than it is worth.

  • I think u made a mistake in last part u are suppose to screw that metal...

  • i should have mount the aluminium plate with Screws? the installation instruction says it need only glued. the plate is imho to thin to be used as baqckplate for the maincooler.

  • all those things come in the package?

  • yes

  • sucks if you wanna do sli, I would have to get a classified to get correct spacing.

  • sadly, this doesn't fit on the 265 and 285 properly.

  • works for one gtx 260 65nm core 192 ??

  • i think it will works, but to be sure please look at the website of Arctic Cooling

  • Arctic Cooler Accelero Xtreme GTX 280 is supposed to work with GTX 260 - 265 - 280 - 285.

Supposedly, it fits better on the 55nm GPUs . . .

I have the GTX 285 and I'll be installing it tonight.

    Thanks for the vid 3fferman!

  • Excelent Man =)

  • Excellent presentation! Don't speak much German, but with a pictorial presntation like this, who really needs to? Many thanks. So I'll be all set for Tuesday, when mine arrives. ;o)

  • thanks

  • Accelero eXtreme GTX260

i good one too is'nt he?!!

  • Hey, maybe you could shed some light on this please?

Do you know if this cooler works for the 55nm cards? I've heard things are slightly differently placed.

  • Sorry, i dont have this information.

  • No problem, thanks for replying anyway. :)

  • Supposedly fits better on the 55nm ones like my GTX 285. Will find out tonight!

  • the larger heatsink goes on the smaller IC on the left and the two smaller heatsinks go on the memory modules right? and what are the blue tabs for that you put on the card

  • These ar Thermal Pads for the Ram and nvio chips. These chips have not the same height

  • air is more reliable

  • lol why not just go liquid?

  • The Accelero Xtreme Cools good enough.

  • yea maybe. I had to use clue to make them stick lol.

I hope I can get it installed tomorrov. I have to cut of 1mm of my enzotech BCC-9 ram coolers, where the area of the cooler is 9.97mm. Maybe that's why the cooler didnt had any contact with the GPU. DO you think it's a very quiet cooler?

  • the Cooler is extremely quiet.

  • hmm my xtreme GTX280 didnt came with anything to make those spacers stick like yours did :(

  • maybe a new revision to reduce the production costs

  • That is one super cool device...it looks like a must-buy to replace the stock fan on the 285 gtx...Someone please correct me if im wrong...

  • You're right! This is a monster cooler - my OC'd gtx260 went down to 38 idle and 52 load with accelero fans running at 50%. Also it's very silent.

  • Comment removed

  • when is the US release ?

    sick of waiting

  • my contact at Arctic Cooling says, the accelero xtreme GTX 280 must be available in the United States now. Perhaps it is sold out

  • Lol no way its sold out..its not even listed in newegg/amazon

  • it's out on sites other then newegg/amazon or you can import it from europe (like 20 bucks shipping though).

  • hey im planning to open my graphics card gtx 285 after my thout that thermal paste got melted off i did a stress test went to 108 degreesC in 300 secunds so i have a thout thermal paste got melted off so i need to reapply new any advice also nice video 5/5

  • Oh sweet.

It's about time the GTX200 series got aftermarket air cooling.

  • yeah, i got gtx 260. when i play games more than 3 hours. temps are 75c in room temp 32c. i open my case. so i want to buy this cooling

  • thats nothing after hours of crysis 80 degrees and when closing crysis constant 60 degrees celsius

  • thats nothing my hd4870x2 hits 98-100c !

  • its broken then

  • Nah I just like to use 39% speed because my fan annoys me (hence I want the accelero hd4870x2). The x2 can go up to 115c before any problems.

  • nvidia ftw :D

  • dont buy it for you 260 i have read on google somewhere it doesnt fit a 260 very well without modification!! there is another accelero cooler out for the 260 with atwin fan check out their website!!

  • It depends on which 260 you have, there could be minor issues with the new 55nm models, but nothing to be afraid of. There is no better cooler (except water) for gtx260 out there, so it's worth to get it. The only problem you can have is that the vrm and nvio heatsinks won't fit, but you can buy additional heatsinks any time (vrm's don't need a heatsink with the accelero anyhow..)
