The blues scale is overrated and is not a terribly good device for improvisation. It is not actually a scale, just a collection of notes. It leaves out some nice notes like the the 3rd and the 6th.
Hi do you have any cool pieces of jazz music that would be good for a jazz festival? We were thinking that the piano could start up with a solo and then bring in the horn section and build a whole song around it. You seem to be a person who knows what they are talking about so I would appreciate any advice. Thankyou
I have a Jazz Concert, and my teacher wants me to do a solo in Fblues, and I have no idea what he's talking about, since I grew up with Classical Music.
You're welcome! Good luck with the solo. You might start with a basic riff (e.g. F Ab Eb F) -- then some space, then repeat the riff 2 more times. Then the 3rd time make the riff different. :-) Happy improving!
