My grandpa had the worlds largest spinal tumor removed which covered his entire spine and rapped around it 2 times over... I say had because he died back in 2006 from being paralyzed after the surgery... Luckily it had no cancer in it but He passed on from just being old... Now I kno wat it was like to have it removed... My family loves him very much....
Im scheduled to have the same surgery....well, almost the same ?? I'm not sure whether mine is benign or malignant yet - Doc says well find that out after he takes this little bastard outta me - I dont thin that mine is as big as the one on this video ? Doc says its about the size of a baby jergens pickle - or a little smokie sausage - lmao Mine is located at the T2 - T3 of the thoracic spine - it overlaps them in the middle I guess - I was able to view my MRI on my own computer...
They have skills. I had one of these from T6-T12, two operations to fix it, 9 hours for the first and 6 for the second. I can still ski at intermediate level, play sport, run etc. Dont know how they did it :)
wow...that was the best surgery vid for the day...i wonder how long that surgery took and how much time did the pt have to recover for...the tumor was pretty big to be located in the spinal cord...anyone know what part of the spine this was done to.
I was having great difficulty walking at times and felt as if my legs were made of cement. It took about 3 years to diagnose what what was wrong with me. Although learning to walk has been extremely painful and scary at times, I'm so grateful to be alive and to be able to walk, even though I'm slow. It will take 2 years, give or take, to get back to where I was before surgery.
how could doctors of figured out how to do this? I would hate to have been the first patients. Although I'm sure it's because of them we can do this today.
In 2004, I was 23, I discovered I had a spinal cord meningioma after 4years trying to discover the origin of my symptoms, that affected me from the waist down, organs and limbs. I was almost paralysed. Luckily the doctors removed the whole tumor and I can walk! and most of the symptoms passed. I don't wish anyone the pain after the surgery! It was a long recovery.
Hello, I have had spinal problems since I was young and had a failed spinal fusion 12 years ago. However, have been getting severe symptoms, really bad pain in my upper back. headaches, muscle and joint pain. arm and fingers go numb. Pain in my stomach and ribs. Getting really fed up with the pain as its so bad. What sort of symptoms did you have and what happened to you. Any advice would be very welcome thanks jas
