  • Does anyone know the name of the aire and the two reels?

  • The Queen of the whistle.

  • The Qeen of the whistle.

  • The use of grace notes and her use or slurs in that air is out of this world one can never rate this wee girl high enough god bless you

  • The Tin whistle is such a magical instrument. Probably the cheapest key to access heavenly music. Joanie is an Angel

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • Anyone know the name of the second reel here played after slow air please?

  • Hahahaha she is damn good...

  • You are a bloody beast, Joannie!

Spanish celtics and Irish celtics for ever!!

    Que viva cantabria y catalunya!

  • yes .. Magic Fingers ^_^

  • what language is that guy speaking in the beginning?

  • It's Irish or more accurately Gaeilge.

  • Gaelic, i would guess.

  • I get amazed by this always.

  • Magic Fingers!!!

  • Joannie--as they say down in west Clare--"you can't beat breeding." -----Lovely stuff!

  • So....So.... So.... beautiful =)

  • Blows me away man :)

  • Why do the Irish hate us yanks? What have we ever done to you?

  • Looks like an aluminium michael burke whistle in Eb mate

  • anyone know what tpe of whistle she is using? (hope this isnt a duplicate post - my last one didnt sem to get posted)

  • it's a bit late now to respond, but she's using a Michael Burke whistle. That one is about 100 euro now, i think.

  • In LOTR soundtrack was also used Burke brass

  • pity you're a butt pirate. Too bad this fucktard too stupid to realize that music is universal, apparently much like their stupidity. One thing about this yank, she is one of the best out there. So chew on that fact for a while, or do you have any teeth left to chew with? Damn prejudice hate mongering bastard!! Go read your beloved copy of Mein Kampf and shut up.

  • ahhhhhhhh, exactly the raging reaction I wanted. you yanks really get riled up sometimes dont you. over here in Ireland we don't like yanks. that will be all from me. bye.

  • Ahh, touche. I got what I wanted to see from you as well, your true self. Take your blind racism, and hate somewhere else. Blacks have the right to live as much as anyone else, reguardless of what you may say. Women SHOULD have the right to vote. And gays are NOT evil. We do not want to hear it anymore so please keep such thoughts confined within your doubtlessly unintellignet mind. have a nice day.

  • this guy's got some angst. dont worry it'll be ok. *give him a hug.

  • i love it - i'm a hate mongerer? look at your profile you big fanny.

  • She doesn't sound like a yank.

    Besides, yanks rule.

You wish you were a yank deep down inside.

  • You CAN be BOTH a "YANK" and "IRISH"

  • lol ive never heard people talking gealic, only in songs :p

i love the music and the language :D

  • Some interesting ornaments and vibrato you can get with that thumb hole. Personally, I prefer the six holes on a whistle instead. I've definitely gotta learn that air though.

  • Joanie doesn't use a thumb hole.

  • Oh, it looked like she was with her thumb moving off the whistle a lot. In that case, I've gotta figure out how to get vibrato like that out of my burke someday...

  • don't feel sorry, JSC. It is really looking like she is using a thumb hole. look at the video "Joannie Madden on Whistle", she is moving the thumb during the 3rd reel, and I guess she wouldn't do that unless it could serve some purpose... are you 100% sure of what you said, ctladies?

    Cheers!

  • well, seems like i am the one to blame...i tried the same fingerings with a thumb hole, and it doesn't work..squik! sorry.. :)

  • WOW!

  • Hey, Mary, capos are for wimps!

Just kidding, you have to do whatever it takes to keep up with Joanie.

    Anyway, great clip!

    Love,

    Jim

  • Thats lovely :)

  • The thing that always gets me about the flute is how a piece of what is essentially a hollow tube with holes in can make such beautiful music in the hands of the right person. Liked the reel at the end too

  • the ending reel is my favourite too... sounds like a bird, especially the second part, you can spot two notes that sound like detached from the melody and are like a bird call....as the question hasn't been asked yet: anybody knows the name of that little nice piece of music? :)

  • I don't think the guitar compliments it very well.

  • jejejejje yep. :$

  • perfect!!! the best woman player whistle, of course, after to Mary Bering :P

  • Mary Bergin you mean? :)
