@lukerobin01 Yeah but you can hardly compare a modern Ford Ka (or any Ford Ka rival) to a Mini. The Mini is now an exclusive supermini thats kinda in a class of its own :-)
@Genius83 Yeah. The main reason i'd have the mini now is the exclusivity but it would always be the old Mini for me. BMW have done a good job with the new one but I think it's lost it's heritage. It just isn't Mini... in fact it's huge.
I was just reading the 2010 JD Survey and was gobsmacked to read that the old Ka was Britian's most disatisfying car! People complained that the insurance and repair cost were high? This seems really unlikely with an insurance group 2 figure and mk4 Fiesta mechanicals underneath, and, in pre-2003 models, an engine from the 1960s. Similary weird was the fact the Toyota Aygo was the top city car, but the Peugeot 107 (the same car) was second last (in front of the Ka for the city car group)???
@Olthiver2601t I thought the JD survey worked that way anyway - i.e. 1 to 10. The Aygo and 107 are identical inside, identical to drive, and very similarly priced. In theory, both cars should have come in side by side. The possible difference is that Peugeot delearships are VERY unlikely to be as good as Toyota dealerships and if people were given poorer service at the Peugeot dealer, they would probably have marked every aspect of the car lower than it perhaps deserved.
The only car of this lot I've driven is the Ka (2 of them) and it was like a wee Go Kart. Really good fun to drive for what it was. The engines, both the 1.3 HCS (or Endura E as Ford cleverly badged it to make it sound new) and the 1.3 Duratec, were fairly rubbish though, but tough at least.
incorrect the power to weight ratio of modern cars actually makes them under perform to older models.
e.g. old KA 1.3 is faster than the old Fiesta 1.25
Now the old KA 1.3 & new KA 1.2 are most certainly faster than the new Fiesta 1.25 80bhp
power to weight ratio is everything.
In standard road cars all a bigger engine with slightly more torque and bhp does is compensate for additonal weight.... and it does not fully compensate as the 0-60's are slower than the older models!
e.g. if you are going for a new Fiesta you need a minimum of a 1.4 petrol, but preferably the 1.6 to comfortably accelerate away from e.g. old/new KA or Mini.
@678jasper678 If we're talking about the latest Fiesta, I would disagree. The 1.25 engine isn't actually that bad. The old Fiesta (2002 - 2008 shape) is gutless with the 1.25 though basically because the car is heavier (the new Fiesta is lighter) and has 6hp less power. Don't me wrong though, ideally I'd want the 1.6 (Zetec S) as well :-)
The Ford Ka is the BEST!

@Genius83 Those surveys are people's opinions. The aygo is much nices inside, therefore nobody would vote for the 107 over the aygo woud they?
What they should have done is make people give a score of 1-10.

@FelipeCO95 Me too, I have one of the old Wolseley Hornets.
The original Minis are the best small cars in my opinion.
G1NZOU 1 year ago
@G1NZOU Those are magnificent, they were the same as Minis but in a 'saloon' look and with the chrome-grille, correct? Congratulations!
FelipeCO95 1 year ago
@FelipeCO95 The bigger boot comes in handy. (^_^)
Some people say it ruins the simple design of the Mini and I can see why they would but I think it looks great.
G1NZOU 1 year ago
@G1NZOU I think the Mini has one of the greatest looks ever, but the bigger boot doesn't spoil it at all.
What year is yours?
FelipeCO95 1 year ago
@FelipeCO95 1967, It's the Mk.III model with the internal door hinges.
G1NZOU 1 year ago
One of the deaths of the supermini's seems to be that modern ones are easily 400 pounds heavier because of.. safety equipment.
Meaning they more powerfull engines. Meaning usually that they make a small 1l even more winey..ugh.
No I definitely see why people like well big saloons, the engine is powerful enough to ride..in utter enjoyment.
