Just got back this past Sat. I MISS PARIS! No wonder most Parisian women are slim, running up and down those Metro stairs and running to catch the trains, all the walking..I loved Paris!
yeah this is one of the older trains where you manually open it so if you hold the handle open it'll open before the train stops, i've jumped of when it's still moving onto the platform, it's not that fast
as far as sound goes, you really only hear the whisping of the tires. Can be loud esp with windows open but i find it less harsh on the ears than steel wheels. Montreal metro has all tires, ive lived there and in new york...prefer the rubber tires...but for some reason in paris i prefer the steel...go figure
I live in New York and the steel is horrible on the old subway cars but the above ground passenger trains that we have for commuters are very comfortable and very, very quiet with steel wheels.
this kind of subway is same as Mexico city that trais a MP-73 the Mexican models are NM-02 Nm-79 well even france have a lot of models there are only 4 countrys in all the world that uses that kind of tecnology France the creator Mexico Santiago Chile nd Canada Montreal
Pour tous eux qui sentent pris en otage, prenez des jours de repos, déplacer vous en vélo, habiter près de votre lieu de travail,.... vous verrez çà ira lieux. Puis si ya pas d'autre solution offrez-vous un scooter.
Metro trains were fitted with tires for good reasons: it provides better acceleration (though steel's catching up), and less noise (esp. in curves). Also, parts of this line are above the ground.
This technology is over 50 years old, but steel is catching up. The new MF-2000 rolling stock doesn't "squeak" in curves anymore and has decent acceleration, yet it runs on steel wheels, not on tires.
and the tires are filled with nitrogen to avoid get hot. there are only 4 countries aroun the world that uses this tecnology in subways originally created in France Mexico City santiago chile and montral canada
I live in mexico and the travel on those terains feel great smooth like a bus je je

They must serve for a purpose since when I was there, you can hear the tyres.

Yey :D It has tires!
LUCIALOVESMCR 4 years ago
it also has normal railway steel wheels behind the tyres, so what purpose the tyres serve is anyones guess!
olympian2174 4 years ago
@ olympian2174 , its in case the tires burst. They run on tires normally.
leninspapillon 4 years ago
really? I thought it was for a sound reason. Though, the tires are just as loud as rails xD
