@yone875 They lost Gary Thain to an overdose in late 1974 (could have been early '75, but either way, well before this album and Return to Fantasy), so I'm pretty sure it's John Wetton playing on this one.

I don't understand why people compare John Wetton to Gary Thain when they're IMO both talented bassists, I thought John Wetton was a great replacement for Gary Thain and I often wish he would've lasted longer than he did with Uriah Heep
God, what a demotion for Wetton. '74 Crimson was probably the pinnacle of 70s progressive rock; the work Wetton was doing just prior to joining Heep was truly classic, world-class.
Still, his contribution here is very, very welcome. Heep rarely sounded this good.
Well, it's probably cuz "High & Mighty" was their first merely weak album (2 compare it with wut they released before it!). Thu this 1 is fuckin' cool!
Wetton is indeed brilliant, and lifts this track into the stratosphere. I don't generally like Heep, but I like this album. I feel Wetton was a positive addition to the lineup and could have done alot more for them if he'd been given the chance.
The songwriting on the first half of this album is an order of magnitude higher than what I expect from this group. Maybe the band felt like they had to really push themselves to keep up with the former Crimson bassist in their ranks!
@Jelperman You are right, at around 2:15 is where he comes in. John Wetton does the lead singing on this tune also. I saw them perform it live in July of '76.
Gracias

@Meibukan Demotion? I think Uriah Heep were a lot more successful worldwide than King Crimson in the 1970s.
