@zhongjinshu1 democracy and protection of free speech, unfortunately these things are not as available as they should be. its one thing the USA has gotten right, let people speak and have a little fun, as much as GWB would like to castrate Colbert, he can't do it.
Colbert's got some grade A jokes and he's got some grade B jokes, and he's got some jokes that are really only the least bit tasteful if he's right. That little sketch of his at the end was one of those only tasteful when right ones.
And with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, and of course Afghanistan, I think it is a fair bet to assume that if we HADN'T invaded Iraq, this Taliban goose chase would have been 1 more uncooperative country larger.
And after all that, after lambasting nearly everyone in the entire room as well as some of those that weren't, after destroying them in every way possible...he fucking shook the hand of George Bush, the Great Pinhead himself.
This is the most awesome thing i have ever seen in my entire life. Absolutely beautiful.
Oh, for fff's sake, the first lady did not call Stephen an asshole. I can read lips, and she said "Bye now...Thank you." She may have THOUGHT that, but she's mannered enough to not SAY it. xD This moment in comedy/satire/truthiness history is epic enough on its own; no need to imagine a crude insult to make it more "scandalous".
lol everytime colbert moves his lips bush cringes like his getting rape in the butt.... must have been such a relief after colbert finish everyone he mentioned left a benge smell in their sits when they got up. as for the bush family they got bukkake from start to finish...

Colbert is brilliant but he is from Comedy Central, you can't call him a correspondent. I recently saw a poll and most people believe he is really 'news.' Boy, these people are NOT happy!
@muse54 Actually if you think about it he's probably one of our better sources of news (along with Jon Stewart) because they call out the politicians on their spin and flip-flops, with a twist that's entertaining. Give me a Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert on a "real" news channel without the comedy twist yet the truth and unspinning of today's news stations and you got yourself one of the best correspondents ever.
@SSgtParmer Have you ever tried to stand up in front of that many people, many of whom are the most important people in the word, and, instead of giving the "understood" gentle jokefest, actually lay into one of the most important men in the world with non-stop razor sharp satire? No, thought not; neither have I! I'm nervous enough giving a speech to ten people lol.

@Evilstewie831 if you listen to all the videos it's just plain satire on all republicans there. if he was direct he would be kicked out or stopped, plus George w. bush would understand what colbert was going on about.
Surely, one of the most Herculean Satchelistic Feats of the modern era. It's sad and ironic that the only way that any of this subject matter could even be touched upon in front of these malfeasant miscreants and/ or their minions would come in an all too familiar pseudo-subliminal slap in the face master work of s-wordsmanship such as this. Just as blatant, but humorous TO Varlets, such as myself for a change. Colbert FTW! (Two thumbs up Joe Wilsons' wife (0:31) Know what I mean?X2 wink wink)

Brilliant! We have a public debate on freedom of speech in Norway right now. One of the cornerstones in an open pluralistic democracy. This performance would be the best contribution yet. There are many issues about the US society I question, but how you practice the freedom of speech is far from one of them
What exactly are you debating about freedom of speech in Norway? I thought you already had it. I always think of you guys as one of the most advanced countries in the world (what with your universal health-care, subsidized education etc). Are you trying to work out whether there should be stronger limits on freedom of speech? Or am I wrong and you don't already have it?
I apologize for being vague, you are correct - we got it. There has been a public debate of the limits regarding freedom of speech in Norway. Some segments of the society find it disturbing and have been brought out of their comfort zone by some of the resent statements from some radical fractions. They do not see the benefit of a transparent society where also the most radical groups are seen through the freedom of speech, and want to close their eyes and minds by forcing restrictions
This is easily the most brave thing I have ever seen a comedian do. It's one thing to insult the president, it's another to do it when he is answering questions but to be invited to a prestigious dinner and be the last speaker and insult him when he is 3 feet from you takes balls. He not only insulted him, he pretty much called him a moron to his face. You sir are a brave man, funniest thing i have seen Colbert do.

If the Earth had two moons they'd only be half the size of Colbert's balls.

Brilliant! We have a public debate on freedom of speech in Norway right now. One of the cornerstones in an open pluralistic democracy. This performance would be the best contribution yet. There are many issues about the US society I question, but how you practice the freedom of speech is far from one of them

4naturban:
What exactly are you debating about freedom of speech in Norway? I thought you already had it. I always think of you guys as one of the most advanced countries in the world (what with your universal health-care, subsidized education etc). Are you trying to work out whether there should be stronger limits on freedom of speech? Or am I wrong and you don't already have it?
This Canadian's interested to know more!
(Also, bravo Colbert!!)

I agree Stephen Colbert prolly has the most balls in the world

This is easily the most brave thing I have ever seen a comedian do. It's one thing to insult the president, it's another to do it when he is answering questions but to be invited to a prestigious dinner and be the last speaker and insult him when he is 3 feet from you takes balls. He not only insulted him, he pretty much called him a moron to his face. You sir are a brave man, funniest thing i have seen Colbert do.
