The bill leaves out the biggest culprit that caused the crisis Fannie and Freddie and the same monetary policy that allowed people who could not afford a home buy a home with no equity. All this bill does is create more government bureaucracy that leads to more corruption and the next big crisis. Fannie and Freddie if not backed by government would never have been able to buy up subprime loans and Banks would never have issued them without the Government backed Fannie and Freddie.
Excuse me but the economy is much worse sense Obama took office. unemployment was 7.6% when Bush left. We have lost over 4 million jobs sense Obama took office. The budget deficit was $440 billion when Bush left. It est at $1.4 trillion now. The $800 billion dollar stimulus failed and what jobs it did create cost taxpayer $450 thousand per job. It did not keep unemployment under 8%. He has raised taxes and more to come with this huge healthcare bill that will raise cost on all. Open your eyes.

If you made 50k you would pay 5 times more at $5000, if you made 100k you would pay ten time more at $10,000. Now you want to tax the rich more who are already paying close to 40% and the middle income pays 25%. So to make it simple if you make 10k and pay 25% =$2500. If you make 100k and pay 40% that is $40,000 so you would pay 16 times more in taxes is that fair?

The bill leaves out the biggest culprit that caused the crisis Fannie and Freddie and the same monetary policy that allowed people who could not afford a home buy a home with no equity. All this bill does is create more government bureaucracy that leads to more corruption and the next big crisis. Fannie and Freddie if not backed by government would never have been able to buy up subprime loans and Banks would never have issued them without the Government backed Fannie and Freddie.

The budget deficit was $440 billion when Bush left. It est at $1.4 trillion now. The $800 billion dollar stimulus failed and what jobs it did create cost taxpayer $450 thousand per job. If you made 50k you would pay 5 times more at $5000, if you made 100k you would pay ten time more at $10,000. Now you want to tax the rich more who are already paying close to 40% and the middle income pays 25%. So to make it simple if you make 10k and pay 25% =$2500. If you make 100k and pay 40% that is $40,000 so you would pay 16 times more in taxes is that fair?

@2010GOP actually, the mandated recount is a state law, which was not followed. 2 of the 7 wanted the case sent back to florida but wanted the recounts to proceed. even at that, a 7-2 vote doesn't make it right. dred scott and plessy v ferguson, the 2 previous low-water marks for the court, were both 7-2 decisions. and yes, the military votes were illegal. the repubs didn't even really argue that pt. they just said they should be counted anyway. you are whiffing badly.

I agree, there is question on McCains status...exactly why he was a perfect candidate NOT to debate Obama on his ineligibility. A certificate of live birth is easy to come by .... and doesn't prove he was born in Hawaii, as Hawaii had laws on the books allowing a COLB to be issued to babies born outside Hawaii if the parent was an Hawaiian citizen.

@tishhead: When Bush took office with a Republican Congress, the nat'l debt was $5.7 Trillion. SIX years later, debt was $8.5 Trillion (after massive 9/11 expenditures, 2 wars, etc).
After Democrats took control under Bush, debt rose to $10.7 Trillion -- in only TWO years.
Since Obama / Democrats have controlled, the Nat'l debt is $13.1 Trillion & a Quadrupled Deficit -- all in a span of JUST 17 MONTHS.
Bush's Prescription Medicare bill? ROFL.. but ok to cover everyone for everything, huh?

as for drug bill, the problem wasn't having a drug bill. it was turning it into a giveaway to big pharm and not even attempting to pay for it. no corresponding cuts. no taxes. just add it straight to the deficit.

@2010GOP it specifically prohibited negotiating for lower prices. it was originally sold as costing 400 bill, when in fact it will cost over 1.2 trillion. and it left seniors on hook for big deductibles and the huge "donut hole" where they were uncovered. medicare actuary was threatened with being fired if he reported correct numbers. top congressional sponsor and top WH negotiator on bill immediately quit and became pharma lobbyists.

The poorest: 1. Mississippi, 2. W. Virginia, 3. Arkansas, 4. Kentucky, 5. Alabama.
Least educated: 1. Arkansas, 2. Louisiana, 3. N. Dakota, 4. W. Virginia, 5. Mississippi.

Illinois: "lowest standards" AND one w/"lowest scores" -- how'd that community organizing work out? SC had highest standards. TX w/best public schools.
