I think the Bruce was just really excited to play with one of his favorite musicians. Joe is what Bruce would sound like if he was born in Amarillo. Bruce is what Joe would sound like if he was born in Freehold!
Over theatrical performance on the part of "the Boss" ruined a potentially great video.
Bruce needs to just shut up and sing...His voice all twanged out like a hillbilly ruined a great song. Joe sounds great and the Boss certainly has the potential to do justice to this great song but he blew it big time with his corny antics.
They are the same guy. If he had been born in Jersey Joe would have been the Boss. If the Boss had been born in Lubbock he would have been Joe. Could you imagine the Flat Landers with Bruce?
@john9944 Thank you, John. I've said the same thing for years. Each man is a fantastic talent infused to the core with their home state. But the similarity of the energy of their respective live performances cannot be denied. Having spent my life in Texas and considerable time in Lubbock, I always prefer Joe and feel blessed to have seem him live since 1974 and as recently as last Friday.
Joe joined Bruce on stage during the last tour (Rising) in Austin for this song. Rocked the house. I think Joe sold 100,000 CD's or downloads the next day.

Fantastic - two great performers giving their all!
Mitch, you are right about' Live at Liberty Lunch' - with the phenomenal playing of D Grissom.

Great! Thanks very much for posting this. I love Joe Ely. His 'Live at Liberty Lunch' is probably the best live album I ever heard.
