I lived in Vanuatu for 3 years, one of the things I miss the most is the kava. I don't know how many times I drank and the Bamboo nakamal, but I'd give an arm and a leg to drink there again.

tastes like dry, bitter toilet/mud water...yeah when youre drunk you feel a body high with dizziness and impaired vision. but anything can take the taste away after you drink.

It has a distinct spice taste (comes from the pepper family).. but its really not that bad. So worth drinking!

Stuff alcohol, get kava on to the market! Much better for you and much less problems.

that is how kava is drank in Vanuatu. spitting and washing your mouth out with some water is customary.
