However, the hugging issue is not an absurd response. At my school PDA is not allowed and as it is a learning environment that is how it should be. I also think you said it a little misleadingly saying if you give someone a high five you would get expelled. I would expect that was more in reference to the first issue.

My school in both junior high and high school was so crowded that you could feel the person behind you ramming their books into your back and your arms were jammed into the person in front of you. You couldn't walk through the hallways without getting rammed into another person. It was kind of gross to be honest. A lot of accidental butt touching.

@ruzirekta It's actually the technical law of civil assault. You can sue if somebody bumps into you on the street. But most judges would hold you in contempt of court for wasting court's time. Unless there's damage, there's no need for the rule because there's no monetary recovery. But the key with all law is the reasonability test, and this definitely fails!
Our school did a similar thing, except for a different reason. It was like, "Omg! you gave them a high-five! Detention!" but almost all the kids ignored it. you know what happened in my middle school, we took this kid put him in a shopping cart, ran him down the hill, he hit a patch of mud flew into a fece head first, the cart laded on him, the teachers didnt do a damn thing. a rock the size of my head hit this kid in a later incident in the stomach, no one gave a shit, we got in more trouble for covering a plastic dinosaur with pebbles.

I got my dick sucked for the first time when I was 11 in grade 6 and I fucked my fist girlfriend in grade 8 when I was 13, and I wasn't the only one either. The people making these rules are stuck up 60 year old dried old hags that kept their virginity until 25yr's old.

I go to this school. The principle was talking about it the other day - yes, it's been a year and she's still talking about it - and she said that the media made it look bad. She said she never banned high fives or hand shakes or hugs, when all of the teachers say "Don't do that, the principle said not to" whenever we DID high five each other..... oh god I want to graduate from this school already...

I somehow doubt that this is in line with the declarations of human rights that even schools in Connecticut should follow. Or maybe children doesnt count as real humans and therefore their individual freedom can be taken away from them?

@ruzirekta It's actually the technical law of civil assault. You can sue if somebody bumps into you on the street. But most judges would hold you in contempt of court for wasting court's time. Unless there's damage, there's no need for the rule because there's no monetary recovery. But the key with all law is the reasonability test, and this definitely fails!

Our school did a similar thing, except for a different reason. It was like, "Omg! you gave them a high-five! Detention!" but almost all the kids ignored it. You still can't walk down the 8th grade hall and not see people hugging. Me, I constantly play-fight with my friend at lunch, and once a teacher thought we were serious. Really! Kids need to have fun! Give it up, schools, and face the fact: You can't stop it!
