you da man. i have a question though. i have always closed my left eye when shooting. is this good or bad? normal? just never hear anyone talk about it. thanks for the help
@YFZism check to see if you are left eye dominant - frequently people who are using the non-dominant eye (probably the left eye in this case) have to close the dominant eye so they can get the proper eye alignment...
Thank you very much man!!! I just started bow shooting and I will certainly improve!!! I have another Classe tomorow night...Im gonna tell you!!! (if i think about it)
i let my uncle how my mattews compund bow it is set at 60 pounds, he dry fired it... i had a new string put on about 100 shots befor it happened and i was wonder if i am ok to shoot it again,i looked over every thing. i checked the string over and over there is no stretching or any kind of out of the ordanary. there is no cracks in the cams or limbs. please help me i am realy woried about it.
Thanks! I just bought my first bow and I am glad I found this video. Now I can avoid developing common bad habits. Excellent easy to follow instructions.
I am an "intermediate" shooter. I thought the best way to learn archery was to take tips from all of the archerers that I know that have shot for years. I was wrong. I watched this video and realized that most everyone shoots with some sort of defect in their form. After watching this video, I used the tips that Jake gives, and within 20 shots, I was hitting center bull time and time again. Even when I miss I can retrace my steps and find my error. Great Video !!!!
i've shot a bow for about 4 years now and i really didnt shoot at all for about 89 months and lost evrything now i have alt better idea of how to shoot consitent. this is so much better than those expert village. You can even see the people! thanks for posting
Great video, thanks. your thoughts on putting the target at the same height as the arrow when you draw the bow naturally. Example a person 5'7" has a different ground to arrow height than a person 6'1'. A person can on the level at the indoor range after sighting in there bow this way shoot a bullseye with there eyes closed. A trick we used in the military. If the target is the same height with the bow sighted in at 20 yards you can then close your eyes and hit the target very close each time.
EXTREMELY helpful. i just got a new razor edge for x-mas and was kinda dissapointed that i cant shoot much in the winter, but after watching this i realize i have a lot i can work on inddors (form!)
great tips...especially the one about the anticipation of the bow shooting...thats exactly wat ive been doing...that release grip u talked about will help im sure...thanks
This has been the best video I've found concerning the fundamentals of shooting a bow. It hits all the important factors for any new bow hunter, such as myself. Thanks for sharing.
id love to see some video tips on shooting with 3 fingers. I hunt with my father and grandfather and they are old school with the fingers. I know i will achieve more accuracy and consistency with a release but i'm not switching....so. any tips would be nice.
Great Video. From start to finish you have given great advice. The only thing I can add to what you have told and shown is when you go out to practice focus on one thing. Especially when you are learning correct form. Dont try to practice to many things at once because your muscle memory will not benfit as much. Once you have correct form and shot then you can focus on more than one thing.
this is a brilliant video. ive been shooting for 26 years and i still found it very helpful. it reminded me of my martial arts training in that every step, every motion, is euqualy important. the trigger finger tip was great. keep the videos coming. i look forward to visiting your shop. this is an example of true bow expertise and knowledge of the craft.
Great vid, the tips help somewhat. the one thing i do disagree on is the holding the bow in place until the arrow has hit the target, i was always taught to leave my front hand open and relaxed so when i do pull the trigger on the relase i dont jerk with my front hand, the bow follows threw with the arrow. But not cutting on your vid just thats what works for me, i did enjoy the vid tho thanks.
This video pretty much blows eHow and expertvillage out of the water. I learned more from this short video then I have learned from almost all of the other videos I have seen on YouTube.
their better for beginners and older people but some use recurves...the guy teaching me to shoot uses a #56 canadian checkmate recurve...said he payed AU$13,00 for it...
try focusing on the target and your subconcious mind will keep the pin on your target. I know it sounds crazy but an old guy gave me that advice and it worked for me
good tips, only thing i noticed that seemed weird, which idk y but when he shot @ 8:00 he had a closed grip but when he released he opened up his hand right away when he released..
