If you say breath in an out at the same time: That´s not possible. While you breath in the tongue and (not nesseraily the cheeks) push air out to make the lips vibrating.
Hi turtle dreamer, I am an Aussie and I am finding your lessons the best so far on the web. I have a bamboo one at the moment but with your tuition on here I am ready for the big stuff. love your style. steve
The mouthpiece on my PVC didj cracked because I accidentally dropped it in really cold weather. I didn't have any more beeswax, so I made a new didj out of a tube of wrapping paper covered in duct tape. It's almost as good as the PVC one.
There's some good info here but its a little misleading. It's not actually possible to breath in your nose and out your mouth at the same time; the actual technique of circular breathing is to expel air - from your mouth- via the checks wile you draw in air through you nose. :)
visited australia years ago, had a small one but never knew..have been looking online past few days..good job Turtle, can tell you're into it...also showed my friend and he is now set on getting one and learning to play
i got a 2" think pvc pipe and made a mouthpiece but im havin trouble getting everything down right. should i go get a 1" pvc pipe to practice on for now instead?
Hi, I got a didjeridoo the other day and found this lesson, I've heard something about circular breathing, where you breath in the nose and out the mouth at the same time. I'm not sure if this is necessary based on what you said, but if it is, is there a trick to it?
I got one too the other day and i was very sad because I couldn do circular breathe, but then one day... when you dont think you´ll do you do it. there is da trick, the practise :) Now im trying to make different sounds but in on it...
You do need to be able to breathe in a circle in order to play. The trick is finding enough time to practise. I will try to break down the technique in next weeks video. Start by playing in your Didg and when you need a breathe take it in through your nose and keep your mouth on the Didg. Continue for 5-7 min without taking your mouth off your Didg. Goodluck.
Great lesson. I've only got 3/4 inch pvc but it sounds pretty good. I have a bit of trouble getting that first tone consistently but I am working on it. I hope you make lesson number two soon.
dude, I saw this video last night and I happened to have 1 inch pvc pipe so I made me a dideridoo. I practiced for hours and hours and now, I'm pretty good (well for a beginner)
thats cool man i lived in about hour north of ithaca, in Central square.. ur really simple to understand compared to alot of the other guys trying to teach on here
i just got my didge 2 days ago, and its cuz of this lesson dat i can play it pretty well now... and its just been 3 days... ive almost got my circle breathing thing going but the air i blow out from my cheeks doesnt make the exact same sound yet but thnx alot. if anyone can give me some tips on how to get my circle breathing right, please post up. thnx
yes id like that i cant circular breath but my longs have got stronger from playin alot and i can do big long deep breaths i just need to know how to circular breath
circular breathing is not really difficult to do. when you understand really in what consist you can do it. i learned it in 5 hours. ALONE. i can't understand why someone need years.
Very nice. I just visited the Outback Center in Sydney for a didj demo, spent some time with the artist afterwards and picked a C# didj, which is a little low and air-hungry for my beginning chops. But, your suggestion to go with PVC as a starter didj is a good idea. I'm a sax player who can circular breathe all day long on a sax but the didj uses up my cheek air too fast. I'll learn to optimize the air stream with practice and the PVC seems like a good "training wheels" approach.

Yeah, i can't make sound my 2" pvc didg too... I'll go for one inch.
scopein79 2 years ago
@D4rkMatt3r 1.5" pvc is better. you might find 1" too hard. also make sure its not longer then 60".

Is it just for comfort reasons why you play out the side? Does your mouth get fatigued otherwise??
bigtimeweb 3 years ago
I play on the side, I just play there because I find it easier than playing centrally :)
JingleJoe 3 years ago
i'm a side player also, it is whaever is easiest. Try it, i find side easier because i have quite thin lips

try playing on the side of your mouth. i find it easier to regulate the airflow better that way.
captainhardass 4 years ago 2
how did you make the mouth peice?
harpo2343 4 years ago
didjshop <dot> com / didgeridoo_care / didgeridoo_mouthpieces <dot> h t m l
Remove spaces and insert dots where specified.
stefanieelle 4 years ago
the mouth piece is just a small coat of beez wax around the hole, just to make it smooth so there is no abrasiveness from extended playing.
