if i wanted, could i just set a flight plan up, and when i get close to my approach could i engage auto pilot, flight director, and approach hold? and it would line me up to the run way for me???
When I tried to do this I was cleared to land then they said go around. but the plane wasn't descending. Do you have to keep auto altitude on or off. HELP ME
1) They automatically appear when you get into a ILS path
2) NAV
3) When both diamonds are there, the ILS is alive and you are about lined up to the runway and not too high above or too low under the glide slope.(so making the sound)
3) after u switched the ILS freq, put it as primary (on the left side ;D) and you are approaching the runway, u will see on your left side (on your Primary Flight Display) a point (in this case pink) moving down. Please make sure your are at the right altitude, in this video that point starts moving down at 4:21, keep watching.
So: The right ILS Freq -> right altitude -> and wait till that point moves, then app hold.
hello, I´m from Brasil, nice video I started fly with FS 2004, and with your explanation is my first flight with a auto pilot control, now I fly FSX with REX2, Thank you for the video again.
I'm knocking off my rough edges. Want to master GPS - ILS landings. < for your info not mine. Solid video one and two because of the clear production of the glare shield etc., I learned a lot about the control mechanics ~ cheers. My knowledge is building.
@MrXfort i dont believe i used nav in this video... did you watch both? i was mostly just the mechanics of the ils and giving an easy way to use and understand it at least well enough to play with it and get some landings in.. refining and being correct is up to you guys!
Very good video, this is teaching me many!!! 5/5 P.S be sure to look out for my P.M That I will be sending soon regarding some more in-depth questions. ;)
Good stuff. I learned a lot, but it would be cool if you went a little more in-depth on a few things. Its a real-time flight so you've got the time. For example, why am I pushing the Z key to turn on auto-pilot, and not pressing a button in the cockpit? and why is the pink rectangle that represents the runway on the NAV/GPS thing on the wrong side before it switches over?
@AnimeNanashi The runway is represented on the wrong side because the same ils frequency is used for both aposing runways. In this case 109.5 is used for both rwy 01 and 19. So when we took off the ils thought we were trying to land on rwy 01 until we turned around and flew past the midpoint of the runway. Hope that helps!
@AnimeNanashi Hi the z key doesnt function in the fsx default 747 and the z key is the key microsoft mapped to be the autopilot engage/disengage key. if you go to controls/keys you can see what keys are mapped for what function and if you have a programable joystick you can even assighn a function to a button on the joystick.
In the default 747 vc I have an extra BC button and an extra VS button and they work but the ones in the correct locations don't. And the CMD and ALT buttons don't work either. Looks like yours are the same. They were ok in the FS2004 747. Anyone else notice this and Is there a fix out there? Thanks, great video!
Great tutorial. Now I can land in places I've never seen. One question though. Alttitude indicators (50,40, 30, 20, 10) just before landing. I don't have them. Do you have to turn some system (TAWS?) mannualy?
Very useful! Thanks but could you make a tutorial showing how to set your course and everything on a long distance flight? so from point A to point B? How you set runway heading and things like that!
@MrSouthAfrica2006 It's very simple. Just press 'create a flight' button, you'll enter menu were you must choose your A and B points, VFR or IFR flight (select IFR), and navigation method (VOR is a mystery for me at the moment, but I suggest you take... how do they stand in english... anyway it has alttitude in the name ;)). Create a flight and basicly that's it. During your flight all you need to do is to follow instructions. For ILS bring up your map and click on your airport.
@Jumbarilla hey if i do that, will it also give me the flight pattern or do i have to do something different, im new to this so idk what to do, thanks =)
@iAirsoft69 Flight pattern? Hmm. What do you mean by that?
On the lower right part of the 'create IFR' menu. There will be button (generate or something like that), by pushing it you'll enter submenu were you can establish max altitude and nav points of your flight. As long as you don't want to cross any ocean's flight pattern generated by FSX should be fine.
My747 cockpit isn't the 3d type. I just hit f10 and it's all flat and large. But yeah thx for your time and effort. I never could figure out ils til now. I use pro atc, and I always have to insist on Visual approches. Maybe sometime u can also make an atc video for pilots. Not for me. But many have no idea of the atc protocol and get kicked from pro sessions cause they don't know what to do. Lemme know if I can help
Great job, your right, that was a bit hard of a landing. Lol. But it was helpful for me. My default 747 looks much different in the cockpit.... I dunno why. But the vid still taught me how to ils approach. U should explain being established on the localized and how to use gps to find freq for ils nav. Pls do this. Thanks man.
Hi thanks for the feedback i will see what i can do for your request.. the cockpit is just a different color. its a free texture upgrade and there is a link to it under the video in the description.
Hey guys if these videos help anyone plz lemmie know so i know weather or not to keep making tutorials.. along the same lines if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make them better that would be great.
how did you exit the runway this way
nice one dude

Yes, well I do have a question. How do you steer while taxiing?
marcsoldaat 1 month ago
@marcsoldaat You need to use the ruder control. Most joysticks have them built in; however I'm not too sure what the keyboard setting is.

Good video, just the flap settings were wrong, you cant use full flaps at 210 knot.. how you get the voice of "500... 400.... 50..40.." and so on?
also the shaking of plane at touchdown was so realistic, my fsx does not do this, how you got it? thanks

Great vid but I have some questions
1) on 747 approach, how do you get diamonds for ILS?
2) should gps or nav mode be on?
3)when do we switch to app hold?
4) gah! I'm so bad at this ILS thing...
