  • will it run good on intel core i7 2ghz

    Nvidia GeForce Gt540m

  • thanks man this helped a lot

  • I can play shogun 2 on high settings atleast but empire only on medium and it lags ALOT More than shogun 2

  • @lionheartx10 As you outlined in your Shogun 2 video, having shadows on has an absurd cost on your FPS. I actually find the visuals of my game improve with shadows disabled - furthermore, it comes as very amusing to me that the game proposes shadows to be on 'high' on my automatic settings when playing this game with shadows above 'low' is not dissimilar to spawning hundreds of enemies in a modern FPS.

  • man i hate my laptop it's five years old and when ever i play this game the menu background is pink and the text boxes have not text in them and on top of that it lags like crap! does anyone else have this same problem?

  • @mernyr

I think you kinda answered your own questiom. If your laptop is 5 years old and unless it wasa top of the range gaming one back then it's really going to struggle to run ETW etc. What's its specs? the no text boxes and pink screen is 1 of 2 possibilities. 1 - your laptop is just too weak / old to run the game or 2 - you need to update your graphics drivers. how it will still probably lag badly.

  • I like the way you talk about stuff, honest and genuine sounding chap

  • @HighrockTendales

    Thank you! :)

  • Guys i need help:my laptop 7 years old and shit can barely run etw, i neeeed a new laptop solely for playing empire total war whats the best laptop for £550 max??? Please helppp

  • @Chazb5046

You'd be much better of getting a desktop PC instead of a laptop if you want to game on mate. PM me your reply as It'll mean I can send you some links to laptops / PC's and it'll be easier for me to keep track of!

  • I have empire total war, but I've got such a bad graphics card and only 2 RAM it's not even worth playing it :( All I want is to buy a new (good) computer so I can play the largest battles on high settings. But computers cost alot.

Are there any computers out there you know (which are cheap) able to run empire: total war on high settings or is it better to build your own?

    thx

  • @leemanu94

Tbh your best bet is to build one yourself, you'll get the parts you want at the cheapest prices!

  • @lionheartx10 hey i have a lap top HP, and it lags like crazy. i tryied everything i put it on low graphics i even put it on windows the screen. but nothing seems to work any advice?

  • @Zinkchaching

Putting into Window mode is actually worse for your FPS, it will lag even more in windowed mode, best to keep it full screen!

Well if you've tried everything on low it may just be that your laptop isn't powerful enough to run Empire, what are its specs?

  • @lionheartx10 well, i hve toput it on windows mode cause if i dont the mouse wont appear on my screen.specs:5 in 1 digital media reader, intel graphics mdedia accelarator,4500 MB with up to 1309 mb video memory. i actully tryied to install this on my PC, but it dont wanna reconize it, it says there is no disk inserted, but if i inserte a music disk it reconize it. my pc is a dell and has windos. i have the gold edditionof napoleonand empire total war btw. thank you for replying.

  • @Zinkchaching

If you update your display drivers and mouse drivers you'll probably fix your mouse not appearing in full screen mode. Apart from that however your laptop is very weak for playing these games, it will struggle to run them. Your PC does have a DVD drive and not a CD drive? Have you trying installing Empire / Napoleon via digital download from steam?

  • @lionheartx10 i dont wanna buy another copy. but i have used steam to activate them. can u give me a link to update my mouse and display drivers plz. is there anything else i can do to help empire total war not lag as much? for every 1 second real time it takes like 2 seconds in the game and its annoying.

  • @Zinkchaching

lol you dont have to buy another copy! Empire, NTW and Shogun 2 are all STEAM games, meaning that once you've activated the CD Code into steam you can either install from the disc or let it download the game. To do this open steam, go to your games library and double click on the game you want to install. Steam will then start the download! To give you the download links for drivers you'll need to tell me the exact make and model of your mouse and Laptop.

  • @Zinkchaching

Also apart from updating your drivers and running in full screen mode there isn't much you can do. Your laptop just isn't powerful enough to run these TW games, even on low really, your still going to suffer lag.

  • @lionheartx10 yea its not the game, its the lap top/ i "restored it to factory condition" its a feture that deletes everything and lets me start over. it helped its way less laggy.but its still laggy though. btw now that i done that i can see my mouse in full screen mode. the down side is that i lost everything. i didnt have to install the game from the disk though. i just downloaded steam and played it threw my user account. is that wat u ment by downloading it by steam?

  • @Zinkchaching

yes as I said its your laptop, not the game thats causing the lag due to its low spec. Yes thats what I meant, once you activate a steam game on steam, you can either install it via the discs or download it via steams digital download service!

  • @leemanu94 Build your own is cheaper i built my own and runs great and i play Empire TW on max settings. running a x4 core possessor 8g ram 9500GT geforce and i spent less than 900 for it all minus monitor but if you have a tv that has hdmi then you dont need a monitor

  • @TacticalGhost

I have this 'old' pc, but the graphics card is really bad.

If I would make my own computer would I be able to keep the usefull bits in my old one and put them in the new one? It has 2gb DDR2 inside would I be able to take it out and put it in the new one?

Just to know, don't need details because if I were to buil one it wouldn't be me but someone I know who can.

    thx

  • @leemanu94

Yes you could keep all the useful bits like Hard drive and DVD drive etc. However with your ram, most PC these days, especially for gaming use / need DDr3 Ram, so you could keep your old 2GB ram, however chances are its very slow old ram, you'd be better off getting some new DDR3 ram, as tbh Ram is very cheap these days. I just bought a new 8GB set of 1600Mhz G-Skill Gaming Ram for £40!!!

  • @lionheartx10

I see, if I kept the DVD and hard drive (and what else may be useful) get rid of my RAM and get that 8GB you said and the other necessary stuff like a good graphics card etc.

How much would I be looking at? (an estimate)

    thx

  • @leemanu94

DVD drive and Hard drive are probably the only things you want to keep. How big is the hard drive? Well other things you will need are: PSU - Power supply (I'd recommend at least 600Watts ideally a Corsair Brand one!), Motherboard and processor, depending on whether you want AMD or Intel the cost will vary, same with Graphic's cards which are either AMD or Nvidia, price for performance will also differ greatly in cost, and 4-8GB of ram. So its hard to give you an estimate....

  • @leemanu94

However if you wanted to PM me a budget you would have I could put some parts together for you and give you a far better estimation of the cost, I could put a PC together for around £600 that would play games on high-ultra settings happily! If I knew your budget and any sites you'd prefer to use for parts etc then I could put together a parts list and the cost for you! :) So if you'd like me to do that, send me a PM! :)

  • @leemanu94 as long as the motherboard is DDR2 then you should be golden, i get all of my parts from tigerdirect com they have a good selection and not to expensive, also buying a bare bone kit would be a good investment they come with everything you need to start you off and they aren't over priced.. hope this helps let me know how it goes

  • @lionheatx10 Any way you would know how to fix it? :O

  • My graphics are fine except my unit detail at long distance where it looks like the units are form an old 2D game . Any reason why this happens?

  • @TheDudu1090

its an unfortunate bug with the game engine, it doesn't properly scale the 2D 'spirtes' of units as they are called to further distances, thus they appear rather closely to the action.

  • i have sony intel laptop or something. And my game runs very slow. I did what u said.. And it runs soooooo slow

  • Will my GeForce 430 work on this?

  • @TheP4U111

Yes, you'll probably run on mediums settings with that! Try the demo on steam for free first!

  • What graphics card do you have? i need this one

  • this dosent work for me anyone konw why?

  • @termanator16

You mean you don't get a fps boost by tweaking your settings? What are your PC's specs?

  • @lionheartx10 Do you thing my computer can run this game? And with what settings?

    I have:

    CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @2.00GHz (2 CPUs)

    Ram: 1.5GB

    Video card: GeForce 9600 GT

  • @Lionheartx10 - Awesome, man. Thank you for the advice. :D

Most certainly will inform you of the results! :)

    Thank you again. :D

  • Lionheart, sorry to bother you, however, I need your advice on how efficient my PC would be when running E:TW.

    My specs are:

    CPU: two-quadcore Intel Xenon E5345 @ 2.33Ghz

    RAM: 10.0 GB

    GPU: 1.7GB Nvidia Quadro 600

    System: Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

Any help would be awesome man. :D

  • @LieutenantFuzz

No problem mate, wow haven't seen a build like yours for quite sometime. Hard for me to judge as the Quadros are sometimes very good and other times games are a bit iffy with them. It may not be powerful enough to run ETW, best I can suggest for now is for you to download the demo of ETW and see how that runs / see what settings you can tweak to get the best performance. I would greatly appreciate if you could message me via PM with the results as I'd be interested to know!

  • @lionheartx10 dude, please I'm running this game smoothly on a 800$ LAPTOP, medium graphics....

  • @FT0rres090

Sorry what are you asking / saying?

  • @lionheartx10 that he could easily run this game on normal or high

  • @FT0rres090

What LieutenantFuzz? With the spec he has I highly doubt it'll run on low as the graphic's card is very old and not specifically designed to play games on! Your laptop will have vastly different specs to his computer so just because your laptop may run the game well at medium settings doesn't mean his PC will. You have to carefully look at his specs and understand the power they have.

  • @lionheartx10 I have

    CPU: Intel i5 2.53 ghz

    RAM: 4.5 GB

GPU ATI RADEON HD 5470 1 GB

    System: Windows 7 (64-bit)

It runs smoother on medium but I can use high,

  • @FT0rres090

And thats good for you, thing is the Nvidia Quadro 600 is not designed for gaming, it is built for 3D modeling, rendering and editing projects. It cannot be compared to the standard gaming GPU's of ATi and Nvidia. Which is why I have told him to try the demo as you cannot make an assessment of his graphic's card like you would a normal one! if we went by the spec of his actual card the info suggests it'll run low-medium with some fps at best, but its untested!

  • does 6950 run this game smoothly?

  • @availablehage

Yes it should run happily on Ultra settings :)

  • @lionheartx10 What settings can i run with

    CPU: Intel i5-750 @ 2.7ghz ]

    [RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333mhz ]

    [GPU: GeForce GTX 260 ]

    [Monitor: 1920 x 1080 ]

  • @szafto

at that high resolution you'll probably have a fair bit of lag on ultra and some high settings. A mix of medium to high should be possible with that rig. Tbh the only thing holding you back from running the game at 1920x1080 on ultra settings is your graphics card.

  • @lionheartx10 thanks man, you rock :)

  • @lionheartx10 570 superclocked version or 580 for xmas? which one would u pick :D

  • @szafto

If money is not an issue go for a GTX580, but make sure your PSU = Powersupply is able to handle that card, you'll need a good 600watt PSU to handle a GTX580 :)

  • @Lord i know you can run it but prob low and med and you would need a radeon 6770 to go ultra but try playing k

  • my graphics stops at medium why ?

  • @TheGlodje

what graphics card do you have?

  • @RASANKING

Well the GTX 580 is considerably more powerful than the GTX 560 Ti, so as long as you have a decent PSU I'd get the GTX 580!

  • I don't know why I cant run Empire total war without even getting the option of going higher than medium on all my settings and It doesn't have anything to do with my processor because it's a 2.8 quad core but it's still slow on all medium as well. Can anyone help?

  • @ lordofarms1 don't know mate but if you find out let me know. My laptop spec is just below. Cheers.

  • Any1 help me please. Thankyou.

  • i envy your pc

  • Hey guys. Just bought this game. Not sure what to run it on settings wise. Acer 7750g. Intel i5 2.9ghz. 4gb ram. Radeon 6650m 1gb graphics. Will it run game? Just so I know before installing it which takes bout ten hours. Please help. Thanks.

  • Was wondering if you could help me to improve Empire total war on my laptop and help me get the best performance with it being really slow the specs are

    Processor : Intel celeron T3500

operating system : Windows 7 home premium

    Memory : 2GB DDR3 RAM

    hard drive : 250GB

Graphics card : Intergrated intel mobile 4 series

    any help ?

  • Can this game work on the inspiron 620? Please some one anserw.

  • Thanks, the settings made the game amazing now!

  • on my one it will only allow me to set the graphics to as high as medium? what can i do to make it higher?

  • @Bendall22250

what graphic's card do you have?

  • @lionheartx10 i dont know its on a laptop?

  • @Bendall22250

watch my "how to check your settings video - dxdiag" that will show you how to find out what graphic's chip you have! But now that you've said you've got a laptop, the reason you can only select up to medium settings is likely because your laptop isn't powerful enough or doesn't have enough VRAM to run the higher settings.

  • @lionheartx10 yh just found that out but thanks anyway

  • I have a microsoft hp and dont know a thing about cpu's could somone tell me what kid of card i need?!

  • @DukeOfTennessee117

Well it depends if your PC can actually be upgraded with a new graphic's card. Watch my How to check your PC Spec / dxdiag video and PM me your PC's spec.

  • @lionheartx10 thanks man

  • @lionheartx10 i cant find your video.....

  • @DukeOfTennessee117

I've posted the link on my channel page in reply to your message there :)

  • @lionheartx10 thank you so much..

  • @RASANKING

    GTX 460 1GB edition!

  • @RASANKING

yes a GTX550Ti would be fine too running at high/ultra settings :)

  • i'm playing on a 256mb graphics card! haha its so slow and shit.but i love the game too much. I Play shader model 1..

  • @RASANKING

there are loads man! Even Amazon sells them. just google buying / shops for graphic's cards and you'll come up with loads.

  • @lionheartx10 i have got a dell laptop £450... ok... IF I BUY THIS GAME, WOULD IT WORK ??? DO I NEED TO BUY A GRAPHIC CARD ?

  • @JordanEvans3794

You can't buy a seperate graphic's card for laptop, they are built in and cannot be upgraded so your stuck with what you buy with a laptop. What's the exact spec of this dell laptop?

  • @RASANKING

as I mentioned in my previous post. I'd personally go for the GTX460 1gb as I prefer Nvidia.

  • @RASANKING

both of those perform very well, its very close. Personally I'd go with the one you feel more comfortable with ie: I prefer Nvidia cards so I'd go for a GTX 460 1gb. If you do get a GTX460 get a 1GB version not a 768mb version! But if you like AMD the 6850 is a great card too!

  • @lionheartx10

as I said they perform very close, some tests show the GTX460 is better while others show the 6850 is better. its up to you.

  • @RASANKING well that the gtx 460 is the card to get!

  • @RASANKING

    GTX460 1GB all the way!!!

  • @RASANKING

well the game will run smoother the lower you set your settings to.

  • @RASANKING

yes that is the latest driver. All I can suggest is that you take a look on the Total War Center forums in the tech section of Empire TW and see if anyone else has report this issue too.

  • @RASANKING

I don't have any room on my friends list for now, if you need to contact me via steam join my steam group which is on my channel page.

  • @RASANKING

have you got the latest drivers for the card?

  • @RASANKING

I am telling you the truth lol, by low-ish I mean you'll be able to run on low settings, possibly with on or 2 set to medium with stable fps,

  • @RASANKING

yes but on low ish settings. a GTX560 or GTX560 Ti is much better.

  • @RASANKING

yes, it'll run very nicely on a GTX560 or a GTX560 Ti (the Ti version is the better one to get!)

  • @RASANKING

how much money can you afford to spend? :P

  • @RASANKING

    yes on mostly low settings.

  • @RASANKING

do you have a laptop or a PC? And no you can't download one, you'll have to buy one.

  • @RASANKING

yes it will do on intel graphic's, its not meant for gaming at all you'll need to get yourself a dedicated graphics card if you want to play any new-ish games.

  • Hello !

Can anyone help me, i already instaled this game, but in the menu and in the game, there are no text. No words, nothing

Anyone know about this problem ?¿

    Answer me please :(

  • Hello, I would just wonder what screen resolution you have? :)

  • @TheAllroundfisher

When I made this video I used to run on a 1280x1024 resolution, but that was over 2 years ago, I now have a vastly more powerful PC and run at full 1920x1080 resolution. My current PC's specs are on my channel page :)

  • Hey i could really use some help with my game: i have nearly all settings (including unit detail and texture detail) but I dont have any musket flares when my units fire! Anyone know how to fix this?

  • @Bucelarii

What graphics drivers are you using and what graphics card do you have?

  • @lionheartx10 I forgot to mention in my first post that all my settings are on ultra, and im running without any lag whatsoever, the only thing i dont have enabled is "Hardware Shadows". Im currently abroad so i cant tell what my graphics are, but i hope this helps.

  • @Bucelarii

ok well let me know what your graphics card is and what drivers your using when you get back.

  • I actually OC'd today, I'm currently Priming on 3.6. I could use 3.8, but my temps will sit about 10 degrees under max using Prime, which is all well and good because Prime stresses the CPU more than any game ever wood, like... ever, but on those extra hot summer days, it may potentially carrya problem. Dropping to 3.6 drops those by another 4c, but gives me a 400Mhz from stock. Should help with huge battles in Empire, might help stop the drop, but I doubt it since it's obviously a buggy game.

  • I've had Empire since it came out, I've not been able to get past the 2nd Road to Independance because of abysmal performance, all because I have AMD and ATI, which Empire doesn't like. It's also very buggy. Napoleon runs on MAX fine. Shogun 2 is unplayable. My specs are: ASUS Crosshair III Formula AMD Phenom II X4 955BE @ 3.2Ghz Xigmatek Dark Knight S-1283v MX-4 1GB 4870 GDDR5 4GB Corsair Dominator 1600 @ 1333Mhz 1010watt FSP Everest Modular PSU Win 7 64-bit Home Premium.
  • @UKFX

hmm yeah Empire is poorly optimised but you should be able to run high/ultra with that rig. also shogun should run fine as it has ATi / AMD support this time around. What drivers are you using for the 4870?

  • @lionheartx10 Performance fluctuates. Some missions superb, some run on medium, some on ultra, some have no FPS difference. For example one mission may run on ultra but the next mission may run at 15fps. Changing the settings to low will still have 15fps. Such a poor game.

If I do manage to get further into the game, aka 3rd R.2.Independance, I get crashes, super long turn times, or the worst one: Slo-mo gameplay when in real-time setting.

Used all CCC drivers since game out. No diff.

  • @UKFX

hmm well just incase you haven't tried them I found the 10.5 drivers the best for solid performance but yeah Empire is poorly optimised compared to NTW and hopefully after the Patch due this Monday - Shogun 2.

  • My computer is a tank that can Run Crysis, its a laptop,on almost max,but IT WANT LET ME EVEN ACCESS HIGH OR VERY HIGH SETTINGS ON THIS GAME!,JUST LOW AND MED,

  • @9cloudersprofile

    Whats the spec?

  • @lionheartx10 what a good graphics card that would enable me to get high graphics and run smoothley under £30 if there is one?

  • would this proccessor run Empire total war pretty fast? AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.80GHZ Quad-Core CPU

  • would empire work good on a dell inspiron laptop that runs on windows 7??????

  • @turkiesareawsome55

whats the processor, ram and graphics chip?

  • would a nvidia geforce 9300m 0s 512mb do good?

  • @loveableladyj322

it should run on low to medium settings

  • what graphic card do you prefer for this game because i have a nvidia 8600 graphic card asswell

  • @ricardo14thing

Well since then I've upgraded to an Nvidia GTS250, then to an ATi 5770 and now to an Nvidia GTX 570. If you want a good mid level card a 5770 is a good buy or even better an Nvidia GTX460 1gb!

  • would an amd radeon hd 6870 work better than a gtx 465??

  • i have no idea wat ur talking about

  • i got ccc but cant find the version can u explain clear? Steam : Piet Hein WIC

  • @jaymaster47

I don't have an ATi card anymore so I can't check to see where it is, you need to google it mate

  • @lionheartx10 Okay Thanks for your time! still play ETW? add me :)

  • @jaymaster47

not recently, but I may reinstall it at some point while I'm home.

  • would it work well with geforce 9400, intel core xeon duo core? Would i need to buy a new graphic card?

  • @LevelingTo100

If you want to play above medium settings then yes a new card would be required. something like a GTS450 or 5770 is a cheap option or if you have a bit more money the GTX460 1GB is a great card!

  • could i run this game on high settings?

    ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5

    8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs

    Intel Corei5-2400 processor 6MB Cache 3.1GHz

  • @yeason2010

Yes, that should get high-ultra :)

  • I run on i7 950, hd 6870 and I still experience lags on a normal high setting. Is this normal? I thought 6870 is a superior gpu.

  • @Killerkid282

    What drivers are you running?

  • Hey can i run Etw with these specs: Inter Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz, 4,0 GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4800 series. Like playing normal without BSOD´s?

  • @jaymaster47 i would think so

  • @jaymaster47

    should be fine mate !

  • @lionheartx10 Its strange i can play it on low but medium no...then the pc shuts down just like sid meiers V

  • @jaymaster47

    what drivers are you using?

  • @lionheartx10 how u mean not that techno :O where to see that

  • @jaymaster47

well seeing as your ATi, you need to run the Catalyst control centre (CCC) and click the about option which will tell you which driver version you have, if you can't find it have a google on how to check your drivers it'll come up with some results showing how to get to the CCC and find your driver version

  • @Killerkid282

download and install the older 10.5 drivers they are the most stable and should stop BSOD, if the BSOD continue, then when did they first start, had you just added some new hardware to your PC or has it been since you install these 11.3 drivers?

  • Could you make a video explaining how to change graphic cards if you have the time ?

  • @SomaaTheLion

made one its on my channel page.

  • I have been told this will get high all around :

    2nd Generation i5 2500 proccesor (3.3Ghz, 6mb cache )

    GTX470 1250mb

    8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM

    What do you think??

  • @nicholson313

That'll probably get ultra mate :)

  • The units on my toshiba laptop look like shit , any sugesstions ?

  • @JRoyel

go for a desktop? or see if you can tweak the shader model to low and set unit detail to high.

  • oh thank

i'm thinking on take the gtx460, in that case these video card will give full graphics with good fps? (with ram upgrade also)

  • what actual or upcoming video card is better to play this game full graphics

  • @nailb0y

maxing everything out on a full 1902x1080 monitor resolution you'll want a GTX460 or an ATi 5850 at least

  • @lionheartx10 would a 6850 do?

  • @MRbombonel

    yep :)

  • @nailb0y

    *1920x1080

  • thank you for the reply. ...and what single upgrade you suggest to me to increase the performance?

    a) change the processor

    b) add more ram

    c) change the videocard

  • @nailb0y

graphics card however to that your game doesn't lag on ultra settings you'll want to get 4gb of ram too. Thing is your PSU - power supply probs won't be able to take a stronger graphics card so that'll need upgrading too. So if you dont want to do all that atm just get 4gb of ram, preferably with a copy of Windows 64bit so that your PC can used the 4gb instead of 3gb.

  • hello, lionheartx10

I have a 9800gt, athlon ii x3 2,91 ghz, and 2gb ram. Do you think that this machine is enough to run on high/ultra with descent fps ?

    i have 450w powe supply

  • @nailb0y

yeah it should get a high/ultra mix although you'll probably be better to stick mainly at high, to get smoother fps.

  • what kind of graphics card would suggest that is b/w $50-$100

  • @82ArmyAirborne

to game with . . . dont think there are any decent cards in that price range, lowest card i'd now recommend would be a 5770

  • Hey lionheartx10 still alive:)?Hey i was wondering if the GTX460 could be installed on my board the GAP43-ES3G it has like a PCI-EX16 and a PCI-EX1 slot my friend told me that it is possible but not recommended cause it wont draw the max potential of the gtx460???

  • @VrhbosnianStormguard

nope that'll be fine the GTX 460 requires one PCI-EX16 slot so if you have one of those your fine, your mates got it wrong :P

  • @lionheartx10 aye man thanks again i suppose it will be possible to play ETW on ultra with this card.Im kinda tired playing it on unit detail low with gt220 hey about that PSUs you mentioned earlier i couldnt find the video about PSUs so if I could ask you about a particular one its the Gigabyte GIGABYTE 550W, SUPERB Power 24EPG-P45PC2 will it suffice to run the gtx460 with my 4gbddr2 ram cpu 2.5ghz i2 quad and 500gb memory thx in advance mate.
