The closest you can get to old-norwegian nowadays is Icelandic, as they have kept the language more or less alive since the 1300's. Norwegian has transformed and developed since then, and, the Norweigan we have now is a combination of dialects, Swedish, and Danish. Written Norwegian is refined Danish, whereas oral Norwegian is more similar to Swedish. It's researched and proven. Stop the debate - this is just an old form of dialect.

Icelandic is a language with its origin in "norrøn" witch was the language of the norwegian vikings. These two languages are different, but has a lot of resemblences. However, "Old norwegian" is the way they spoke after the age of vikings, and is different because of, like you said, danish, swedish, but also the new influences like cristianity etc, witch resulted in a big change of our language, meaning these lyrics are not in iclandic! its norwegian dialects

I'm from Norway, and I can try to answer your questions.

This song isn't "old-norwegian", 'coz that language died out when the black death (a disease which killed almost more than one third of the Norwegian population). Since then our language has been affected by danish and swedish. So this is a mix between old norwegian and the new, modern norwegian :)

I think it is nice that you try, but "old Norwegian" is now what we call Icelandic, as they havent really "developed" much in their language they keep speaking as Norwegian used to before Norway went into an union with Denmark.

@Kathgor Thats a modern written language of Norway, because of the mountains, valleys and fjords we have one of the highest number of dialects in any language (Only Italy has more?). So these old dialects are very different from bokmål.
