You know what I find strange about the scene with the tarot cards? There were three of those, towards Ted. And the show lasted three seasons. After the third season, he died. Weird huh?
thanks to the irish for giving us the best tv show ever - Father Ted. although they also gave us shittiest band ever - U2. father jack should kick bono's head in.
its from an american movie about rednecks(sorry cant recall the name) and theres a bald, inbreed kid jamming with some guy. So its a spoof i would guess.
You're right. It's called "Dueling Banjos" from the movie Deliverance about the old south. Namely the Appalachian peoples of West Virgina, Tennessee and the likes. Since the movie came out the Dueling Banjos are used to denote a small, simple people and backwoods sorts of ways.
yeah the actor who played farther Ted, Dermot Morgan died on feb '98 of a heart attack 24 hours after finishing the recording of the last episode of Father Ted :(
awesome show !!! :)

Thanks so much feryer excellent detailed historical footnote, Mr. adamraganAZ!
I play a stylized version of 'Dueling Banjos' on guitar, and love to be refreshed wif'detail which tends to "get-forgot" thru the years.
