  • does it have intercooler? plug the turbo to the motor intake

  • had a 2-105 white with that engine. it was great if the cold blooded pig would ever start, and that was with block heater plugged in

  • NO cooling water ?

  • We are recirculating the water in the jacket (as you can see by the pipe and hose on the front right) and monitoring the temp. We don't let it get very warm without shutting it down for several hours. If it was a Deutz, it wouldn't NEED any water :-) (those clever Germans!)

  • The turbo on that engine looks very similar to one i have. That wouldn't be a Garrett T04B would it?

  • Not a clue what make/model the turbo actually is. Whatever they came with from Perkins is what it still is. Anyone else know?

  • @iamdave0887 They are Garrett's, not sure on model

  • is that a 1080 or some thing behind

  • That's an 1100 Massey Ferguson (same engine (older style) without turbo)

  • One thing i'm proud of being a Peterborough born man is PERKINS ENGINES!

  • I now own one the same as this. It is going in a 1971 International Butterbox ACCO truck.

  • Cool engine but where the hell can a person get a Perkins serviced at?

  • These were VERY common engines in fork lifts, tractors and combines (Massey, Oliver/White, etc.) and other construction/agriculture equipment. Most any diesel mechanic can work on them (especially if they service farm equipment.)

  • How much cubic inches does this have? And how much litres ?

    Thanks

  • @johnzejtun1993 5.8 litres. 354 cubic inches. 160 HP when turbo.

  • sounds like a cummins dont you think?

  • Hey, by some off-chance is this engine still for sale? If so, reply to my youtube account. ThankS!

  • How long is that Perkins? And what kind of mpg did they get ?

  • Overall (front of front pulley to end of crank in back is 38". MPG assumes it's in a car or truck. These were VERY efficient Gallons Per Hour at reasonably high drawbar horsepower (~135-150) for farm tractors and combines. VERY durable, VERY efficient in their day. BTW: Don't compare drawbar horsepower to the ratings of automobile engines. You'll just start an argument :-) Thanks for looking!

  • these motors are very efficient stock. but if turned up they are still good but when they start working the smoke just pours from the stack its a beautiful sight

  • Perkins power i love it.made at the peterbrough factory 25 miles from where i live and it sounds awesome.

  • Glad to bring back memories. We love them too. Love the smell of diesel in the morning and listen to the turbo sing!

  • hai i m interested , how much in us $

  • We're asking $1200 (USD). Located Southern Wisconsin.

  • dropped one of these in a cockshutt 540 and beafed everything on the tractor up unstopable

  • We had a couple of MF 1130's from the late 60's with the earlier version of the same engine. You are correct, there's NO stopping them. Last for decades and keep on pullin'!

  • we just dont have anything on the farm to work the perkins 540 motor even the 5 bottom plow pulls like it aint there

  • Sell it. Interested?

  • hi dad that is cool lol
