  • Jabouilles record is interesting. 6 pole positions, only 3 points scoring positions and 3 other race finishes in 49 starts !

  • 0:29 Look the marshall LOL aahaahah

  • @federicozep LOL you're totally right

  • good to hear Walker and Hunt. Never better than those two.

  • Jabouille had a lot of retirements. my god, only could get points on 3 races, 2 were victories, incredible.

  • mostly because the Renault was notoriously unreliable

had it been reliable Prost would have won the 1981, 1982 and 1983 titles with it.

  • @McLarenMercedes I think Arnoux would have had just as much if not more chance in 1982 as he was ahead of Prost in most races until he had technical issues and a couple of errors. He lead more races than anyone

  • This accident ended Jabouille's career in the cockpit, although continued with Renault as an adviser.

  • No it didn't, He drove sparingly for Ligier in 1981 but he was unfit and gave up the seat.

  • true. He had to retire mid season 1981 and became Laffite´s race engineer

  • Spot on. Thereafter he was briefly Peugeots sporting director.

  • per estrarre jabouille dalla sua renault ci misero mezz'ora e furono costretti a tagliare la scocca....fu l'ultimo gran premio di jan pierre in formula uno

  • And what are they doing? It's no time for YMCA dancing, guys.

On a more serious note you can see Jabouille trying to remove some sheet metal by himself so he was alive but trapped by the legs.

  • They are actually communicating to the course workers upstream of traffic to alert race control that they need to roll a wrecker (the W shape) and an ambulance (the half assed A shape a couple of them made)

  • Thanks for details. I think in 1980 they didn't have talkie-walkies so,yes, signs were a very effective way to communicate. You can tell when you see a well-organized safety crew. I can't remember if this crash did actually put an end to Jabouille's career.

  • No problem. To add I think they had radios back then but usually permanent courses like Mosport and Mid-Ohio and the like they use a network of "radios" that are on a closed circuit landline telephone system. To this day "Phones" as they are called are still used. I just flagged at Belle Isle last weekend and a temp phone network was installed. We still use the hand signals as well to this day as sometimes we have to be a fair distance from a corner to deal with a car that has pulled off.

  • lmao he turns around all wtf?

  • Heh, the saftey crewman threw that body panel at that guy in the green shirt . . . lol
